That's a fantastic presentation. Am very interested in designing and building a house utilising CLT. This presentation has helped to understand the process enormously. Massive thanks.
I am in process of planning a CLT home here in Germany. This presentation certainly helped me to further my understanding of this type of ecological construction. Many thanks for posting it online. It would have been interesting to have gone into the questions regarding cost vs timber frame a bit more deeply. I am hoping to grab backsome of the extra outlay on CLT in the follow-on handwork labour costs by avoiding plaster board, wallpapering and painting costs through the use of 'sichtbar' (visible) CLT. How do the costs comparisons measure up then?
@@siriosstar4789 I am aware of 2 of those that you mention. Our building plot is in 72297 Seewald-Besenfeld, the same village that the new mega factory Holzbauwerk Schwarzwald is commencing production in in the next couple of months. So hopefully we will be one of their first customers! Although our contract will have to be with a local building company as they do not contract direct with retail customers.
the panels are not left exposed , at least not in Europe . The most common method here in Europe is to insulate the outside install vertical furring strips over the insulation and finish with wood cladding or a material that will accept plaster . the exterior walls never come into contact with the elements .
