Sailing at night in the Mediterranean sea...looking at the sky and stars...while listening to this...it was like...reborn with all the universe and...with time itself! Thank you.
Music aside (but by god is it hard to put aside), this is a great visualization of the asteroid belt. I'm still stuck picturing it like I did in grade school, as a sparse, linear thing, but I think the description of "swarming" is very apt.
If you're wondering about the outer planets and the dwarf planets, these are their scaled frequencies according to the notes the asteroids and inner planets represent: Ceres: 59.068 Hz (A# 3 octaves below middle C) Jupiter: 22.926 Hz (F# 4 octaves below middle C) (Below this, the frequency is so low that it would be infrasound. Hence, I'll take them to be rhythms at X bpm.) Saturn: 9.176 Hz (≈551 bpm) Uranus: 3.231 Hz (≈194 bpm) Neptune: 1.651 Hz (≈99 bpm) Pluto: 1.097 Hz (≈66 bpm) Haumea: 0.959 Hz (≈58 bpm) Makemake: 0.889 Hz (≈53 bpm) Eris: 0.487 Hz (≈29 bpm) BONUS - Planet Nine*: 0.0276 Hz (≈99 beats per hour, one beat every ≈40 seconds) *Assuming that Planet Nine's semi-major axis is 460 AU. Note that Neptune and Pluto's 2:3 resonance has translated to a 2:3 polyrhythm.
Watching this at 4am while you’re pulling an all nighter because you hate yourself and you think you really only got free time when you’re alone in the dark watching TH-cam videos and drinking monster energy just to distract yourself from your self-destructive depression really hits different
Although their orbital ratios are close to 13:8, Venus and Earth are not actually in an orbital resonance since their relative positions after each 'cycle' shift. In an orbital resonance, planets interact in a particular way that maintains their relative positions over time. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orbital_resonance#Coincidental_'near'_ratios_of_mean_motion
1:14 looks like among us for a second there… pretty sus This really shows just how much among us has affected my mind… I don’t think I will ever not see among us
The inner Solar system playing Cmaj7 is really a bit too convenient, isn't it? If it was F# or at least Db I maybe would have believed it. So let's see. You approximated the ratios of the time it took each planet to go around the Sun to the ratios between the frequencies of musical notes. Then you took the time it takes the Earth to circle the Sun as the value of 1 and then likened that value to the note H in order to get Cmaj7. That makes little sense. If the time of Earth's orbit is 1, then it should also be the note C. So in fact the inner Solar system plays C#maj7. For starters. Moreover, there is no tone E. Your chord is CHGH, so it's not major at all. There is no major third. Also it makes no sense that the value of 1 is assigned to the 7th degree of a chord. If the value is 1, then it's also the 1st degree, right? Well, in that case, the chord consists of the notes C#CG#C and it could be called C5aug/C#. Now that's great for a click bait, isn't it?
Okay but if you pick and choose cyclical events, you get basically whatever you want. Play them all at once, and you can get an actual answer. Oh. Not good enough? Don't worry. A lot of people choose the path of illusion over that of accuracy. Weakness isn't new, children.
Jesus fuckin calm down Stengel, it's a TH-cam Radiohead cover, no need to spout about how smart you are and how much you love to ruin things other people enjoy. Pretentiousness ain't new either.
The pitches and rhythms of the planets come from their relative orbital frequencies, it's not arbitrary, although my PhD in astrophysics may have led me down the path of illusion ;)
lol. i forgot i wrote this. nah, i was more commenting that literally choosing what asteroids to have 'representation' in this video can allow for any song. there are thousands of objjects to choose from, and using a logarithmic scale to determine pitches and rhythms, i could imagine coming up with a different song altogether. oh, or different speeds. phd is nice, but such doesn't exactly impress on me how or why i'm wrong. not that i particularly care, i don't think; it's the internet. i reserve the right to be wrong, obstinately, on arbitrary videos. ;p
This was a hug from God, when I was feeling heartbroken when I read the truth about this world, when I turned my back to Him, wishing to be his father, and the author of my own creation. ❤ Thank you Love, for your Voice. (ACIM Student) ❤ Miracles to everyone, we share the same Spirit with a holy Mind, so, we can't never be alone. 🤍
Confirms that Thom Yorke created the universe
Indeed… 😉
This is so fucking sad and beautiful. To think of the stars and planets feeling lonely and listening to True Love Waits on repeat for eternity..

Just imagine floating around alone in the pure darkness of universe while listening to this song

So touching.
This makes way too much sense.
Amazing D:
wow
Malditos genios!
I also want inner solar system!
è emozionante

i thought it was the happy version of True Love Waits...
Damn ._.
That's beautiful - and just what I was looking for after stumbling over the NASA playlist soundcloud.com/nasa/sets/spookyspacesounds

So tell me more, is the harmony of spheres disproven? Why?

Nice try. Interesting, but that's no substitute for Thom Yorke. Uh uh.
