- The people of Anyburg, U.S.A. bring a lawsuit against the group they deem responsible for most of the trouble in their town: automobiles! While it's probably a little longer than it needs to be, this short reminds us that complaints of reckless driving are anything but new.

They made us watch this in drivers ed back in 1997 This cartoon was probably as old as the books we used.
wow, disney had the idea for cars decades before pixar was around!
A great example of how important car safety really is today; they should definitely show this in driver's ed!
So was I. If you look at any Disney cartoon with antropromorphic cars, they have a similar look. Pixar just took it a step further with the 3D.

Good lesson it's teaching here, it's not the car fault it's the person behind the wheel and how they drive it.
Funny thing though how much safer vehicles have gotten since this cartoon was made, and yet just like in the cartoon, "accidents" increase. Portraying drivers as gun welding murders is a nice touch, since it seems most "accidents" today are conscious acts. People CHOOSE to drink and drive, read, text, talk on phone, play music instruments, etc. It seems that speed limits are lowering and new laws are being passed because people CHOSE to ignore previous laws.
Some of the cars remind of Lighting McQueen and Doc from Cars, in fact this could be the inspiration for Cars

Brilliant cartoon. Blame everything else and ignore what the real problems are. It's like watching 24 hour news networks!

I actually remember watching this when I was getting my driver's licence, but I was more interested in the cartoon then the lesson it was giving but I did learn something from it.
The Buena Vista logo seen here at the beginning is from the 1956 reissue of "Song of the South". I have the original RKO logo from the film, BTW.

Wow...someone should really remake this with guns instead of cars. Its hard to believe our country was once enlightened enough to realize that its people, not objects that are guilty.
Now that ramming cars into crowds has become popular with terrorists, the analogy is even more fitting. However, road vehicles are *strictly regulated* with various laws, and drivers must undergo government regulated training to prove they are capable and responsible drivers.
It should be no surprise that countries with lax traffic laws have the most road deaths. See where the logic leads us?
