Oh man... I remember being fifteen years old and absolutely drooling over this DVD and all of the Carvin catalogs. I'm still waiting for the opportune time to purchase one; I really want to do this right. I am currently just a grad student- not much money coming in at this point, so I may have to wait a couple more years, but that's just fine, because even though I might have to wait until I'm 25, I'll still act like a 5-year-old on Christmas morning when that box comes in the mail.
I had Carvin build me a custom 4-string bass using the Vanquish series as a body type: Burled maple top and turning stock with a birdseye maple fretboard and finished with a beautifully done egg plant purple color throughout and a natural burled maple color binding affect. It has a dark angry growl low end and a sultry tone on the high end. Carvin did a magnificent job bringing my vision to a reality.
I've played literally almost every brand out there, from budget to high-end guitars and Carvin is one of my favourite brands. I hear soooo much positive feedback about them and you can have a custom shop Carvin for less than 1200$, that's a fucking steal! I haven't had a Carvin myself but I used to work at a guitar shop who had them and they played absolutely sublime. If someone here is thinking of buying a Carvin; do it, you won't be dissapointed!
I just fell in love with kiesel guitar❤❤❤ i will get kiesel guitar in the future for my next guitar collection, i can see the quality is superb from this video...
There are two songs on this video, both are solo releases from guitarist Craig Chaquico who is best known as guitarist for Jefferson Starship in the 70's and 80's. Since then, he has had great success in the smooth jazz genre with multiple chart topping CDs and singles. 1st song is Sweet Talk. 2nd song is title track from the Acoustic Highway CD
It's great to see what goes on in the factory. I bought a Carvin full stack bass amp rig in the 90's. I was blown away by it in all aspects i.e. quality, sound... Unfortunately, I had to part ways with it all during hard times. I would go with Carvin again, any day.
I've seen less automation with Gibson, mainly the way they fit their neck into the LP body. They do final fitting by hand by using a hand chisel. (saw it on TV show). Carvin's neck and set in pocket are both cut on CNC so the fit is perfect. We have a video coming soon to show this.
I have had a great experience with Carvin products . I own a 6 string bass that plays and sounds fantastic , as well as a Bellaire tube amp that sounds great . I think smart people do their research and find the best products for themselves . My experience would definitely lead me to using and recommending Carvin products .
I love my Carvin guitars, of which I have several. My personal favorite is the first one I bought: early 80s (either 82 0r 83) CM 130 Koa. After all this time, it still plays like a dream.
I have a DC127 Left handed....burnt umber paint...it is a gorgeous guitar that I play all the time. Carvin makes amazing guitars that is affordable. I would love to get the Semi-hollow with a hexaphonic pickup in it.
Been using nothing but Carvin customs for 15 years plus making my own using their parts. Just great quality, craftmanship, and playability. Every one I have had has been a jem. I really have no interest in spending too much on other brands which offer no options and customer choices. Best value for the money in the realm.
loved the video . really appreciate it as id never get the chance to tour the factory. i can tell your team of workers are a happy bunch and proud of there product. you dont see these guitars in the UK much
fun glimpse into Carvin's magic factory! I've have the Carvin acoustic AC375 for years and love it. Great work guys. I know the repetition probably gets tiring some days but from here it looks like freakin' a dream job!
Holy crap I WANT that air powered fret end nipper at 3:38 ! I am amazed by how sure-handed the craftsmen are - they have made a FEW guitars LOL. Makes me want a Carvin bass.
I just recently got my very first carvin guitar it's a DC100. I've been playing for 30 years and I used to day dream of my perfect carvin build in those old magazines you could get. I wish I could have gotten one. I'm loving this DC100 though it's so good I'm questioning whether I need the other guitars I have or not. I'd love to get but I doubt I'll ever own a Kiesel guitar as I'm a fulltime single dad. A guy can dream though haha.
Kiesel(formerly carvin)is a fantastic company now using the best of everything.they'll build you an amazingly handcrafted guitar or bass with woods & wood combos you can't get at their great prices from anyone else.check out the Kiesel factory tour video. (Chuck R.777RnR)
Thank You !!! i have a custom Baritone 6 string, i build on an old Carvin 4 string Bass neck...all i had to do was call, and they pulled one from the line without frets so i could run the shorter scale.. i also have a friend that has a beautiful Carvin guitar...they really did great work and i didn't understand what happened.. i really think Carvin whent in the right direction with the compact line array systems and the footswitch pedal preamps.. but i am glad their instrument tooling is still up and running, thank you for the forward.....www.kieselguitars.com/
Test played a used Carvin fretless 5 string bass at Guitar center in Indy. Sweetness. Sustain and addictive growl and Jaco-syncro-funkinicity. Should have bought it! Cheaped out and regret it greatly. It would have allowed me to be a much better bassist. Carvin Belair 2x12 combo makes my $89 johnson strat copy stand up to $600 Fenders at the local blues bar. Keep doing what you're doing. You are a standout company!
damn... i would love to get a carvin, nowadays its rare to see this kind of quality in any factory... i would like a carvin similar to the one jason becker had
That's excellent. I hope they serve you well for years to come. I also wish there were more people that wanted to view this video. The American guitar building industry is dying.
6ftAzn is the neck on the bolt kit finished? or you have to add that option like tung oil or other finish when you order it? I know the body could be white/black satin finished. I have a DC127T is a great guitar if you plan to get one
No problem :-) I agree with a comment on here that not a lot of people buy the great instruments from Carvin. I mean the quality alone is worth the money, and besides where else can you dive this deep into true customizing. Even Gibson's or Fender's customs can't compare.
@kellytttt Every guitar and bass is given a proper set-up before going to the customer. If a customer requests a specific type of string or action, it is set-up accordingly.
The fact that they employ all those Americans, pay their taxes and build all their pickups in house and design great stuff is very noteworthy. A great American company that is "first class" they deserve respect and support. Very nicely priced top quality stuff!
Carvin = Made in USA. No BS markup like in retail stores, it's all factory direct! These folks know how to build quality in their gear. I've been a bass player for almost 25 years, and a dream of mine is to own a Carvin bass. 4 string Deep Dragon Burst paint, birds eye maple neck, gold hardware, 24 jumbo fret....ah it is to drool when you are a musician!
Does Carvin have a Fender Fretless Jazz Bass type model? Also is there a flat fretboard guitar like the Vigier Shawn Lane model? Any recommendations for these? Thx.
At 3:05 , do they use a surface grinder to rectify fretboard before frets are installed? Seams odd... and How does the grinding wheel follows the radius?
@3musicmakers It's a video that lasts 8 mins. There's no way we could show every hour, every minute of the process. Did you really expect to see the full set-up process?
@3musicmakers I've never owned a Carvin guitar, but I did have a 4x12 cab. It took a serious beating on the road for many years and never failed. I suspect their guitars are the same.
I ordered an ST300 on June 11th! However the online order status still says it's "Processing"...today, July 4th. I feel like it should have entered the building phase by now...does the term "processing" encompass the building process? Has my order status not been updated yet? .....did something go wrong with the order? Pardon me if this is a stupid question, it is my first time ordering anything from Carvin.
I have two Carvin Bolts and an all Koa DC127. My advice would be to start with the DC127 and customize your way up. The main differences with a DC127 and DC400 is just options. Personally, I prefer going without the active pickup stuff. If you want to save some money, a good bang for the buck is a Carvin Bolt. All Carvin guitars are very well made and you get alot of guitar for your money.
right, Carvin was always a good value, but today they are making top shelf guitars and still giving you a better bang for your dollar, I will def have one soon..i like the Neil Zaza model & a few others.
Carvin seems to be based more on long term relationships starting with a simple discount or free merchandise endorsement concept wheras other companys pay professionals outright to play their products. So many start with Carvin and sell out it seems, Friedman and Becker, etc, cant blame them, but man the CT6 and 727 are the stuff of dreams. I am sold on Carvin, just waiting to get paid to get my CT6 and start saving for that 727 :)
dude i love the sesame street guitar, numbered inlays :P. thanks for letting me know he used kahler trems i was going to put a floyd but now i can make a more acurate replica :)
Good choice, I don't see why more people don't buy carvin. If you were to buy one in a guitar center or something, they could easily charge 2500+ for one of these customs, but you can get your own custom guitar for just a bit more than an american fender or gibson. Definitely worth it.
I have one of their 7 strings and I have also owned a handmade warlock and an esp 7 string. The carvin hands down had the best neck. Pickups are ok, I would have the emgs installed for playing thrash.
What the best thing is you can get a custom guitar built for you straight from the factory and it would only cost as much as a Dean guitar made in Korea or a standard ESP LTD
The country of origin for the wood will depend on what type of wood the customer orders. Most models feature Alder for the body and Maple for the neck ALL USA GROWN! In fact the only wood Carvin uses that is not from the North American Continent is genuine Honduras Mahogany. Most of our hardware (95% I believe) is also USA made, overseas suppliers are only used when there is no other option!
6:19 My Grandma, Yolanda Nava. She makes all of the pickups for Carvin Guitars.
I really hope you ended up getting that guitar!
I had Carvin build me a custom 4-string bass using the Vanquish series as a body type: Burled maple top and turning stock with a birdseye maple fretboard and finished with a beautifully done egg plant purple color throughout and a natural burled maple color binding affect. The freehand sunburst application is just ridiculous! What talent!
Just picked up a 2001 cherry burst

All Carvin products are well made and reasonably priced. Keep rockin' our world, Carvin!
It's great to see what goes on in the factory. I bought a Carvin full stack bass amp rig in the 90's. I was blown away by it in all aspects i.e. quality, sound... Unfortunately, I had to part ways with it all during hard times. I would go with Carvin again, any day.

Its realy cool of Carvin to show us the factory and some build procedures.
Carvin is Top Quality. I have many Carvin Products and all exceed my expectations. Thank You Carvin!
I have had a great experience with Carvin products . I own a 6 string bass that plays and sounds fantastic , as well as a Bellaire tube amp that sounds great .

This was a cool watch in 2024. I see a lot of the models I used to dream about owning when I was a teen receiving the catalogs in the 90s
I have a DC127 Left handed....burnt umber paint...it is a gorgeous guitar that I play all the time. Carvin makes amazing guitars that is affordable. I would love to get the Semi-hollow with a hexaphonic pickup in it.

i can tell your team of workers are a happy bunch and proud of there product.
you dont see these guitars in the UK much
was thinking of saving up for a Les Paul, but I am sold on Carvin after seeing this and some other videos of the guitars!
i love my carvin! just got it the other day. its my first 7 string and it has a wicked growly tone.
This was hypnotic, extremely impressed by this and especially Carvin`s finishes, might get one someday!
nice video carvin makes some really nice guitars and amps too!! Wish I had a CNC machine like that...
fun glimpse into Carvin's magic factory! I've have the Carvin acoustic AC375 for years and love it. Great work guys. I know the repetition probably gets tiring some days but from here it looks like freakin' a dream job!
the carvin guitars have an awesome paint work
I have one of the customs, and i got one of their kits and built my own and even the kit was fantastic.
Holy crap I WANT that air powered fret end nipper at 3:38 ! I am amazed by how sure-handed the craftsmen are - they have made a FEW guitars LOL. Makes me want a Carvin bass.
My custom V220 gets here in a few days I can't wait!
OMG, that's exactly what I want. Maybe next year, but the finishes are perfection.
I want a DC727 SOOOOO bad. Carvin's are so gorgeous and great playing I've heard. Definitely gonna be my first high end guitar.
Such a satisfying video.
Just got a 1983 DC 200 Koa in mint condition. It is amazing!!!

What top laminate do you think has the prettiest natural grain? With some knots and other things in it? The Claro Walnut or Flame Spalted Maple?

Does Carvin have a Fender Fretless Jazz Bass type model? Also is there a flat fretboard guitar like the Vigier Shawn Lane model? Any recommendations for these? Thx.
im really ready for a carvin, custom!
Beautiful.
I would LOVE to work in a guitar shop building guitars.
At 3:05 , do they use a surface grinder to rectify fretboard before frets are installed? Seams odd... and How does the grinding wheel follows the radius?
I have two of your guitars tattooed on my back in a X fashion with your factory colors...
@3musicmakers It's a video that lasts 8 mins. There's no way we could show every hour, every minute of the process. Did you really expect to see the full set-up process?
Awesome music. Anyone know where it's from, or where I can get it?
@3musicmakers I've never owned a Carvin guitar, but I did have a 4x12 cab. It took a serious beating on the road for many years and never failed. I suspect their guitars are the same.
@kellytttt Your right i'm a luthier and people have no idea how much a good set up is the key to enjoying your instrument to it's full potential
The first guitar I bought was the 1982 DC200 stereo guitar. It has a few scars these days but I will never sell that puppy.
im getting my dc400cw in 2 days!! so excited!

@cerebrix well the store I used to work at only had a few of them, they imported them from the US so that's how we got em

I need to get a DC127 in pearl blue MOP inlays reverse headstock and floyd with locking nut. I'm working on it.
What the best thing is you can get a custom guitar built for you straight from the factory and it would only cost as much as a Dean guitar made in Korea or a standard ESP LTD
do you guys sell directly to the customer at a wholesale price??
@GuitarnScythes because you said the store you worked at sold carvin guitars.
in the us, only 3 stores sell carvins,. and they are all carvin stores.
@GuitarnScythes are you in europe?
i wish i owned one of carvin guitar

@pgmsrock Yeah, I think all the necks come unfinished. You can finish it however you want.
can they add emg's to a custom carvin?
ya know when you order to make ya a guitar at the carvin page but i only see carvin pickups
