I always flick my revolver cylinder in. Owned my .44 for over 4 years now and every time I’m at range I’ve flicked the cylinder. Guess what? Zero fucking damage or flaws. Same way when I slap the mag of my AR in place before sending the bolt home. Guns that are made durable will handle the shit you throw at it accordingly. If it’s made cheap or not meant for being handled rough, then it won’t. It ultimately comes down to manufacturer and what you have.
Main things I hear of people complaining about flicking cylinders and the like is people not properly taking care of things and or having weapons with fragile parts Don't come for us cause you invested in a 16k ar that needs fired in optimum conditions and didn't invest in oil and elbow grease
Or maybe treat your guns with respect to help prolong functionality? Flicking the cylinder might not cause any damage in 4 years but if you do that for 20 years it won’t be good. Just sayin
Doing this with a loaded .44 magnum cylinder will absolutely damage the crane eventually. Unless you’re using a brick like a Ruger, you will end up developing end shake eventually. Eventually could be 10 years, or it could be 3, it’s all dependent on how often you do it. A pre-1995 Smith N frame is not the same thing as an AR. It’s a hand fit piece of precision machining, like a mechanical watch. It’s designed to handle use, not abuse. Whipping the cylinder shut is abuse of the gun. It’s also a bad habit that shouldn’t be included in your manual of arms. Obviously I can’t tell you what to do with your property. But you should be aware that it will cause serious issues eventually, the kind that will require a real gunsmith to fix. There are fewer and fewer of those real gunsmiths every year.

Oil it up with some moose milk (ballistol and water) often and your revolver will be just fine. I play with my old revolvers all the time. When I’m bored I’ll just pull one out and start fidgeting with it lol. All of them still go bang and are accurate never had a issue

That's the 1st pistol I ever bought (still have it) : Model 19 Smith & Wesson w/ 6" barrel...and Yes, you can doubletap with this pistol, if you have some good instructors.

When you pull back the hammer it just feels right which is actually a reason. I hate today’s 9 mm and going on that’s why I like revolvers you may only have six shots but you also have to take your time.
This revolver can shoot double action too which takes less time and gives a worse trigger pull which is another reason why people favor semiautos over revolvers besides capacity and quicker reloads.

I used this back when I was on the force on Arklay. Extremely reliable and it's power certainly came in handy at times but the lack of ammo was always an issue.
