The idea to take "Space Fantasy" and build a military-esque march over it. Two completely different things that should not work together but are made to work together very well. This track gets me every time I hear it.
I think it took some inspiration from the Imperial March theme from Star Wars, which itself took inspiration from Gustav Holst's The Planets, specifically the Mars Suite.
@@ilybabe99 I didn't know you could hit the coin tiles to win in battlerock, and i spent hours trying to beat it. Then in dreadnaught galaxy i thought it would take forever, but i figured out that you could use the coin tiles

Of course that’s subjective, I personally feel the Undertale soundtrack is the best video game soundtrack of all time, but I totally see where you’re coming from and I LOVE the galaxy series soundtracks! I have to rank it #3 on my list of favorite video game soundtracks. It’s absolutely beautiful, and I LOVE Spacecore and orchestra, this combines two of some of my favorite things!
Lol bit of story get ya, I love starting from the beginning of this game, And then this level appears, A small dread for this level but I always tell myself "At least it's not dreadnought galaxy"
it is not just a leitmotif of "Space fantasy". It is, as another person commented here, like adding a military march and more epic melodies on top of it, if you notice both themes last the same and have the climax at the same point, which is at 1:06
Best video game soundtrack ever made. What other game soundtrack has such a diverse feel to it? Ranging from fun and nostalgic, to epic and to beautiful
The build up consists of the epic IV-V scale endlessly, right after the V the key changes to one key higher, and it goes all the way to dmajor, where it suddenly takes a turn to the climax, bass note goes down but the d major chord stays, which means the d major chord was a V and the dominant chord to g major. The harmony travels down to the 3rd of the g major scale and makes it an augmented chord which acts as the V chord to e major and it modulates in a circle of fiths two augmented chords until it reaches or what we think resolves to a major. But this a major acts as a IV and it goes through this epic IV-V once again but suddenly switches to the original key again the b maj is a napeolaian chord to f major with this epic progression IV-V (f major and g major) and then it goes down to the most unstable chord or V chord for A minor with a suspension i think wow it doesn’t resolve to a minor, the melody goes through a whole tone scale starts with e all the way down to f# then f and then it’s back at e major key
I always wonder how it could be, that when someone at the nintendo office suggested the gearmo bomb throwing challenge, not a simple person said 'no, they'll hate it'
The beat for this song sounds similar to "The Living Failures" from Bloodborne: The Old Hunters. Both songs are epic AF tho so I'm really not complaining.
Sorry but no other Mario Game in Mario’s history can ever come close to beating this Masterpiece of a game. Only if Nintendo decides to make SMG3 will it ever have a chance.

Perfectly said! I love how they added this to Space Fantasy

You pretty much summed up the Empire from Star-Wars.
It's the same melodies but the synth is replaced with a violin
I think it took some inspiration from the Imperial March theme from Star Wars, which itself took inspiration from Gustav Holst's The Planets, specifically the Mars Suite.
I can still hear the sound of Mario running on metal surfaces while I listen to this soundtrack
and the sliding sound
And the alarm noise when a platform starts moving
plink plink plink plink plink plink plink plink plink plink plink plink plink plink plink
And the bullet bills.

I remember spending hours on completing the bomb mission, just to then realize that all you had to do was to throw bombs on the coin tiles 🤦♂️

Man, space fantasy was already good enough. But then they make this, an absolute masterpiece.
This OST gives me the feeling like I’m on a command bridge of a space ship and getting ready for battle ~ all systems online, ready for engage sir

This galaxy means a lot to me. This is the galaxy that started bringing me fun.
Yes, this galaxy took me from "this is a pretty fun new Mario game" to "OMG THIS IS MY FAVORITE MARIO GAME!"
The shots where mario is flying with the explosions in the background
Epic 🤩🤩🤩
The best part of this Galaxy were the explosions for no reason Haha, they were really unexpected and absolutely cool!
Bro this slaps so fucking hard
Slaps harder than a bomb-omb 🔥🔥
This right before Buoy Base Galaxy fits extremely well
This level gave me so much rage but the soundtracks are so damn amazing. So much nostalgia..

This is one of my favorite SMG tracks ever. Thanks to you, it's now a part of my music playlist. Thank you so much!
This galaxy was amazing. I loved the feel of infiltrating this place. Top 10 best galaxies, this one is in it.
Probably a top 3 galaxy for me. Such an epic rearrangement of the normal track.
Both the original song of Battlerock Galaxy and its remix in the Dream Hurdles event in the London 2012 game have a very special place in my heart
Never noticed that there's a leitmotif of "Space fantasy" in this track, and probably in many other smg tracks
