I was inspired by some denim jackets that used crochet panel inserts for a unique effect, and knew I had to make my own. I thrifted this jacket last week, and have started cutting out the panels. Next up is going to be freeform crocheting some funky new segments to sew back in!
I'll be using scrap sock yarn from past projects for even more refashioning fun.

I didn't think you had to cut the jacket up like that. I thought making granny squares and sewing to the jacket.

You don't have to cut it, this is just the method I used!

Thank you for a nice video! ❤
I have been thinking of making something similar but planned to sow on the crochet pieces before cutting off the panels to make it not be flimsy to work with. Which do you think would be easier, cut before it after?

Thanks for the thoughtful comment! I think it's easier to cut the panels before. I saved the pieces so I can use them as a pattern for the crochet parts and I don't have to carry around the whole jacket while I'm working to test if the crochet parts fit. It is a little tricky to pin them in place, but so far so good!
