I've been a Ritchie Blackmore\Deep Purple\Rainbow fan since i virtually came out the womb and was quite shocked by Ritchie's chosen musical direction. I have to say that this group is actually very very good and is rapidly growing on me.
I remember when I watched this on DVD I was completely blown away and loved every moment of it. I would love to see them in concert one day. Candice is so very beautiful and talented, and Ritchie is still the God of Music! Thank you for posting this.
Best concert tour (2005) ever...all elements of the concert seems perfect to me: candice voice, richies genius, the tracklist, the atmosphere, the beautiful weather, and and especially the lost occupation: I miss Robert Curiano on the bass, the sisters of the moon, and especially tina chancey on the violin...shame...but they do a great job today as well...go on Blackmore's Night!
That's what I keep wondering.. When I first heard this song I went searching for it's meaning and came up mostly with references to egyptian writings... I'm sure I'm missing something! It's a beautiful song I'm just not sure how it ties together! :D
I seriously don't get how I didn't find this band for myself years ago. Sure, I've heard of Deep Purple and Dio, but I had no idea Ritchie had this band, since I didn't know them that much when I was younger. I feel like these two encompass themes I've dreamed of for years.
Perhaps none of the above. Could be as simple as common aspirations and connected souls. I'll take that pint now thank you. Don't wish to wait until August. :-)
Blackmore's Night as a band is Richie and Candice with an assortment of backing musicians. It just depends on who was playing when as to who they will have backing them.
@5twinkie1 Neither German (sänger) nor French (chanteur) and even if Cartouche does have a meaning in French, it probably refers to the egyptian Cartouche (which was roughly how we call the design that encircle the hieroglyph name of old Egyptians kings) ;-)
A cartouche is the answer to a mystery. Something this song happens to have quite a few of. So it's mentioning that there are answers to the questions it asks. Somewhere.
umm nice vid. Where's the the concert played? It looks kind of medieval background ( not the scene) and some people are wearing pretty starange clothes. Or is it just some kind of Blackmoresnightfan wearing? :)
yeah. the sound of the word fits the song beautifully; a sort of silky mysterious sibilant sound. but it confused me, since i knew what it meant before i heard the song the first time. and i've wondered about it ever since.
Whenever i see Blackmores Night i am always intrigued, its like watching a scene from Father Ted, hilarious. and then she goes and gets out the Flugelhorn. I cannot take anything they do as serious. But good luck to them !
perhaps... I don't know if this is even close to likely, "Cartouche" could mean some sort of mystery or book in the song, like a "book of secrets" of some sort....
how could this old grim man get such a young cute woman at his side? a) money b) MUUUUUCH money c) his body give your answer. the winner will be drawn out of a pint of guinness on friday 8/10/13 at 8 pm live on cbs.
I absolutely love Candice Night's voice!
It's difficult to find something not to love about Candice :-D

I recently (like a couple days ago) heard this for the first time and I can't get enough of it. I love the vocals (lead and backing).

It's interesting to see what's become of Ritchie since Deep Purple and Rainbow. RIP Dio.

@metacosmos
there was a french criminal in the 18th century I think, he was called "Cartouche"..perhaps the song is about him

Cartouche translated means Cartridge ;)
I love how a bunch of the audience is costume! Must have been at a medieval fair.

Cartouche is the name of a french highwayman, maybe he's the inspiration for this song?
Muito bom!
I'd like to hear (&c!) the "trumpet" more....
Where was this played at?
What she is talking about in this song ?
Whenever i see Blackmores Night i am always intrigued, its like watching a scene from Father Ted, hilarious. and then she goes and gets out the Flugelhorn. I cannot take anything they do as serious. But good luck to them !
what does a cartouche (a stylized scroll or drawing tablet, also an ancient Egyptian name seal) have to do with this song?
Candice you are moonlight...

Where I can found Blackmore's Night DVD's??? I'm from Mexico and there aren't in any place :(
