There are two types of smoke detectors. Which is better?

This is correct.
Also know that you never install a ION detector near a door or a fan, The wind will set off a ION detector as a false alarm. The wind blows the ION stream and it thinks it's smoke.

They are called smoke alarms. Not detectors!
