You guys could have taken the less steep variation to the left of your route, saving time because it's a walk and less of a climb. It's longer in distance but you would have saved on time since it seems like you lost lots of time because of lack of ice climbing experience. Also, looks like your guide had to set up fixed ropes so that also takes time not to mention all the manipulations you have to do to pass anchors (with little experience). This should have been climbed in simultaneous rope travel. I think the guide did take the right decision in setting up fixed ropes for your security but that obviously cut your available time to summit. Good call for the security. One thing is certain, I would definitely learn the basic mountaineering technics before heading out on this type of project. It's safer for you and the team. Rock climbing experience alone doesn't cut it for mountaineering. Kudos to you for the right decision thought! Oh and thanks for the splendid video, brings back sweet memories of this gorgeous mountain and valley!
