Hi, thanks for the information. I am using some chrome leather for a project for the first time and wanted to know how to slick the edges out. Have made many knife sheaths with veg tan but never used chrome tanned leather. Your correct about glueing your edges. They will split back open if you skip that to save some time. Ray, Oklahoma

Tokonole is the absolute best ever! I tried other gum trags and won't use anything but Tokonole.
Great tip for the sandpaper on your machine! And I'm fairly new to leatherwork but I always cement along with stitching. I just feel it's a better practice and my work will last longer.

Is tokonole better than gum trag? If so, what's the difference? This is a great video btw and I think doing voice over in post production is always better for tutorial videos as you're mainly just focusing on explaining instead of doing at the same time. Thanks for making this!

Why is the title “how to burnish chrome tanned leather”? And then veg tan is used?

Hard to say whether it is chrome tanned without knowing the specific leather. Tons of leathers are combination tanned. They definitely are not vegetable tanned but share some characteristics because they are not fully chrome tanned either.

@@drewmeyerhoeffer467 Most of the combination tanned are chrome tanned first, then veg tanned (like latigo).

It looks to me like it might be an oil-tanned leather?

Is leather edge paint basically the same as any acrylic paint? Can artists acrylic be added to Tokonole to add a color tint to it?

It looks like throwing every available edge finisher... Using tokonole before edge paint is not the best to apply edge paint.

if it ends up exactly like what we see at 10:17 then i don't realy like it.

There is no way in hell that that is chrome tan leather.

Yeah, I have been through few videos on chrome tanned edge finishing and they all show these thick hard pieces of leather glued together where what you really want to know is how to make good looking edges on floppy soft chrome leather. Like the one I am working on there is no way of using edger. It's just too soft for that. And when you sand it it looks even more hairy.

hI, Does anyone know if using chrome tanned leather products is safe, or if chromium becomes the dangerous kind,(chrome vi)? please if anyone can let me know. thank you :))

Wrong. This is not chrome tanned leather in the video. I have sanded and beveled the edges on chrome tanned leather, and tokonole DOES NOT work to smooth the edges. Your are no doubt using veg tanned leather in this video. Show me some chrome tanned leather and put tokonole and I guarantee you will not get a smooth finish.
