I’ve been making those for years. I cut the entire length of the pipe so it can be spread open a little. Then a small slit for the spring to slide in and I set the trap clear back in so only the outer jaw is barely exposed. Also a slit for the dog to pop through when the trap is tripped. Then I use 1x2” boards cut however long I want them up through the main slit so it touches top of tile and screw two screws through that. I can shove them down into the muck in whatever depth water I need to. Stick a baby carrot on the trigger and bang.
Do you use the V trigger configuration for mink? I have switched to one trigger wire straight up and the other bent low at 90 degrees toward the opposite side of the trap. Dog on the bottom. I'm connecting with a lot of muskrat and mink this way. My thinking is they don't feel the wire trigger as an obstruction when entering the trap. Also there appears to be a large clear opening from their perspective when entering the trap. Great videos, a lot of depth to the information. Nice catch of red fox.
very good display if you get time trapping world guy shows trigger on bottum upside down j ive had mink that wouldnt go in with triggers in v but you have one hell of agood way congragulations
I know this was posted a year ago but, I’m just starting to trap. How would you set up this tube and what bait or lure would you use? Looks like a great idea and I would love to try and catch a couple mink this year!
One thing I really like about this idea is that it could be sitting next to the road in a ditch and just look like trash. Nobody would pay any attention to it Whereas with a wood box it kind of stands out.
Thanks for the awesome tip Todd. Makes my want to take up mink trapping come november.

Nice trapper trick you shared!! Thanks
great video todd,,thanks for the tip!!
Nice inventive idea.
Genius! My red squirrel problem is no more.
Thanks for sharing
Seems like that would delay the firing of the trap slightly with both jaws being held.
Where is the best place to put this setup, land or water?

Thanks for the video, how does the pipe hold up after the trap is fired a few times?
The trap fires outward so really doesn’t do anything to the pipe.

Don Powell’s video “Mink after mink on purpose” has a lot of good mink box info. I use a lot of mink hind quarters with glands for bait.

Can you put a link on where i can find some? I seem to have rotten luck to finding that type of pipe
Try Lowes or Home Depot
Great how to
Todd, do you happen to know if this set up would work with a 110 with a pan trigger or would it hit the pipe? Thanks
Depends on the pan trigger but it should clear
I posted the same question but in the wrong spot...do you happen to know of the belisle 110 will fit the same size pipe?
I do not. I don’t have any Belisle 110s
@@toddstrohecker thank you. I ordered 2 just to try so will report back.
Will the trap fire while it's in the pipe?
Yes, it will fire outward like a bodygrip box
You have had this info out for awhile . Have you tried this drainage pipe cubby this season? If so,,,, any luck? ................... the mike
I used them submerged in plunge pools but never set enough of them for a true test.
