The Pagan Holiday, Lupercalia, was on February 15th. If you celebrate the holiday in it's original intent, which was the sanctity of marriage and God's intent for us to marry, then you are doing this rightly. Yes, the commercialism of it has been taken too far, just like every other holiday. But, if you explain to your children the correct origins of SAINT VALENTINE'S day, you will be teaching the blessings of marriage. Just because the Emperor choose to kill him the day before the pagan holiday, does not make them the same holiday. We need to explain all of the Christian holidays rightly to our children. Easter is not about bunnies, Christmas not about gifts, etc...
