I love this boss fight personally, the only time Chai probably was closest ever on becoming a rockstar, even have a concert on public and watched by many people!! He also battled a musician/actress on STAGE!! AWESOME!! Real happy that you made flawless results with the rhythm guitar dance off phase.
I'm just happy to play a game that gave me a challenge without being cheap about it. Each time she slapped me across the face I knew it was 100 percent my fault. Love this game.
I will shamefully admit that it took me way to long to figure out that I was just suppose to keep attacking her to get rid of the shield. I thought I had to wait for a certain attack to parry
Same confusion here, but I brute force everything at first, so it worked out... but she was HARD. There was a full 30 seconds I was just spamming Peppermint bc Mimosa's attacks were so annoying to deal with
@@scylla1772 funnily enough, switching between korsica when shes on the ground, and peppermint in the air is probably the best way to deal with mimosa's first phase. Keep your distance, let peppermint keep up the pressure from afar, jump in with korsica when she lands for extra pressure. Most effective way to break her shields and deal with her. Trying to fight her in the air is just gonna get you hit badly for no better result than letting peppermint do it.

There's a few echoes of Space Channel 5 in this game, but starting at about 3:46, that entire segment is a direct homage, down to the pacing of the beats and how Mimosa uses Ulala's poses. Left, right, left, right, chu chu, chu!
I'm glad others saw it. I freaked out, it was like I had trained since I was a small child for that very moment. I'd been noting that the party mini game on the big mobs are basically Morolian segments without the cute Chu! sounds.
I do love that this kinda demonstrates perfectly where Chai could fit in with the company. Korsica is the Security lead, Peppermint could easily become CEO, Roxanne could shift to a more supportive role as finance with CNMN helping, Macaron as the R&D head, and CHAI.... Well, this little buddy's analogue is the Marketing head.
How Mimosa reacts to Chai's unexpected appearance actually does show she is competent at her job and her claim as "Queen of Spin"; especially since she had to improvise it. Unlike Rekka who's answer to something unexpected is "destroy it and remove the evidence". Of course; she's still corrupt and wastes resources for her own ego; but she does actually... do her job.

The nice thing is that it doesn't punish you if you're not good at the rhythm (for the most part; the Korsica fight was a royal pain), but instead rewards you when you do hit the rhythm. You can dodge more if you dodge on the beat, for example, but can still dodge whenever.
The rotating pan after Chai lands on stage at the very start makes me think that's a ref to that one famous Michael Jackson concert where people were fainting left and right to him just standing there.

From the boss fights I liked the intro to this fight the most, the fight not so much still but still way better than Rekka's or QA-1MIL's. My personal favorites are Roquefort, Zanzo and Korsica. Btw. Chai and all the bosses except for Korsica are narcissists just different types or rather different faces or phases. Chai: the daydreamer who is constantly preoccupied with fantasies of fame and success. Also feels entitled to praises and recognition despite never achieved anything before. Rekka: the overachiever, workaholic, who needs to speak of herself constantly in third person to separate herself from her "greateness" and to emphase it. Zanzo: the cerebral narcissist who is obsessed with his intellect. Mimosa: the somatic narcissist, preoccupied with beauty. Roquefort: the literal wolf in sheep costume professional, superiority complex about his intellect and later about his strength and nothing matter too him just HIS (financial) success. Kale: manipulative, charming egomaniac, borderline psychopathic, your typical corporate white collar psychopath What all of them have in common their largen than life ego, they think they are special and superior, need for constant admiration and recognition.
It's fantastic how they got defeated by their own creations though. Roquefort got crushed by money, Zanzo got defended, Mimosa wanted to put on a show and lost her composure, Korsika, though not executed, was defeated by Chai wearing her down in a psychological sense. Rekka and Kale share the "defeated by their own creation" deal, just as Chai said. Chai's narcissistic behavior enabled him to fight fire with fire, which is the best part.

This boss was and today still is one of my top 5 favorite boss fights. It was number 1 for a short time until final fantasy 16 came out. I just had so much fun fighting her. I wanted to save the gameplay from the fight but then Xbox is like no we don't save more then a few seconds of gameplay at a time. 😒
