Uyimbokodo, meaning Women are the pillars of humanity. Its a fascinating song on Gender Based Violence, how the abuse is let to happen and it condemns the communities that let the abuse continue unchecked. Without women the whole human species would cease to exist and thats how mothers need to be protected. It offers a sadly concise description of domestic violence. But it's not a downer of a song, it explores the hopefulness the narrator feels after finally escaping years of abuse telling a troubling story of domestic abuse. As victim of domestic abuse myself, l'm simply confronting the topic head on trying to help victims to speak out and escape the abuse.
