I figured Jupe knew they wanted to buy the horses back so if he let them see the show, he could talk them into being involved as well as show why they can't get the horses back.
At the begining of the movie, there was a radio talking about missing hikers. The alien, while purposefully supposed to be something you don't understand, It also acts like any normal predititor. It's sort of like an Octopus, it hides in plain site, has a home, comes out to feed.. is territorial.
Part of the research about this jean jacket is the argument made by many researchers about a flying terrestrial animal that can live both near ground and in also the upper atmosphere. Basically from 0 to 150,000 feet plus. Its a natural predictor cause......wait for it....... It is. It just evolved opposite of say...a whale. Ultra light weight for its size and uses different means of moving around.
This movie's sound design and lighting was just unreal. Best nighttime scenes I've ever seen in a movie. Beautiful cinematography, perfect pacing, great performances, and well executed cosmic horror make thiis movie easily his best technical work imo. The way he builds tension with a simple cloud and quick pan was amazing.. Get Out is still my personal favorite and Us is underrated af, but this was proof hes gonna be around for a long time as an S tier filmmaker.
In the opening scenes with OJ, you can hear in the radio on in the background reports of 'missing hikers', signifying that the creature has indeed already been feasting on humans for a while, which is likely where the nickel and key had fallen from.
I see Jean Jacket's unfolded form as being more like a threat display? Like when an animal bows itself up to look bigger to scare something else off. That's why it takes that form in response to being hurt by the barbed wire right after being scared by the flags and all, it was threatened and pissed off so it started bowing up at them.
Not sure why this movie caught so much hate but I loved this movie. Gave me some nostalgia having grown up on a secluded ranch (cattle though not horses).
Because it's more of a "thinker" than the other two. From an entertainment standpoint, this probably ranks last of the three. In terms of symbolism and meaning, it may be his best yet.
The alien did eat before, remember those hikers missing mentioned at the start of the movie by the radio? Their keys and money probably got spat out and killed OJ's dad
I thought the general theme of spectacle in this movie is brilliant and I found the idea of UFOs camouflaging as clouds really cool. Such a fun and weird Jaws-esque movie.
I always thought jellyfish were way creepier than sharks and other ocean creatures just because of how alien they look and the way they digest as well as them being way more fatal with their stings. I’ve been waiting for someone to make Jellyfish horror and I’m glad someone did. Things without eyes and very alien like mouths and anatomy are always way creepier than something with an expressive face. Like worms have also always creeped me out.

I really like this film, and I like the idea that the ufo is an animal and not some alien or spaceship. The acting and dialogue is really great too, and the backstory to the characters feels real and not out of nowhere, like in other movies. Overall a great watch in my opinion, worth the price of admission.
I loved this movie, I liked it more than both Get Out and Us. I have no clue wich one is the better movie, I leave that to people who know about films, but for me, this movie was a homerun, loved every second of it. Fantastic atmosphere, it looks gorgeous, and it's genuinely unsettling at times. The image of the people getting sucked up and then the sound of them screaming is just fucking horrifying, loved it.
The parallels between Jean Jacket and Gordy are all over the place... most obvious is that they are wild animal that are trained to a very small degree, but the second something goes wrong (a balloon popped, or ate a metal horse), everything goes to shit and the animal attacks. It might not have gone after everyone at Jupiter's Claim if it was not wounded by the horse statue.
32:23 There's a news story about midding hikers on the radio in the background at the beginning of the movie. It's been picking folk off for a little while
I too think it's saucer form is to eat and when it's passive, while the larger crazy looking form is it's aggressive form. It took it's second form after it tried to eat the barbwire. That probably pissed it off. The only thing I can't figure out is the shoe standing up thing. Maybe a metaphor of the impossible shot? Like a shoe isn't likely to end up like that, but it's not exactly impossible. Which is the same with the impossible shot. I really liked the second form. It's almost biblical. Like you see it but don't exactly know what you're looking at. And the mouth that keeps opening over and over is like 4th dimensional imagery. Such a fantastic design.
About the shoe in the set of GORDY's and the thing of been in that position have a explanation, is in the scene when OJ talk about the "Bad Miracle". Jup it's watching somethin amazing, something he can't explain and it make him feels unique and special but at the time it happen is in a bad moment and in a bad place.

I think this might be the most accurate horror title ever to what most people would do in the character’s shoes. “Oh let’s explore spooky haunted place!” To which 99% of sane people will just be “nope, I’m out. I’ve seen how this movie ends in countless variations. I’m not becoming the next ‘based on a true story’ horror flick”:
It's so different from his other movies, but I still loved it. I'm glad I was able to avoid all trailers and teasers for it. JP is one of my favourite directory currently, he has yet to disappoint me. A lot of thoughts have gone into the creature design, it's still familiar by playing up tropes, and incredible alien at same time. I believe the transformation at the end, has two functions. 1. It probably is as Mr. said, some kind of "solar" sail for travelling though space. 2. To go with the animal theme. It's now considering them actual threats and not just prey that's trespassing on it territory. It's puffing out to be bigger and more menacing, while "whipping" its face(?), trying to scare them away.

This is my 2nd time watching this reaction all the way through...my favorite reaction to Nope. Far as the alien opening and expanding...it did that after being hurt twice....by the horse statue and then the barb wire. I took as the alien beast being not only annoyed but felt it was being challenged so it had to make itself look bigger to meet the challenge, intimidate and not been seen as prey itself. It was also showing it was ready to fight by enlarging. A lot of predatory animals do that ...make themselves look larger by puffing up or expanding...some fish, toads, snakes do this. Bears stand on the hind legs to make themselves look larger. When the alien was flashing the black square surrounding by green flare...that I think was a warning or intimidation tactic (deimatic behavior). Yea it saw the cowboy balloon as a challenger, flashed at it and then attacked.
I think you missed the radio report in the beginning saying that 11 hikers had disappeared in the area. Obviously where the coin came from that killed Otis on the horse. I describe this movie as Jaws meets Close Encounters.
I didn't know you were into anime, but yes, Peele is a big anime fan, the bit where the sister slides her bike away from the camera towards the end is also a direct reference to Akira.
Yeah and also in the final showdown when JJ it shows more menacing like "a anime way of speaking", in some SHONEN series the villain says "I still have 1 more transformation.... BEHOLD MY ULTIMATE FORM!!" XD
Fun fact: The pig survived cuz pigs can't look up! Also theory I enjoyed about jean jacket is that it's an alien from Jupiter since the planet is a gas giant and the creature itself is very billowy and floats on the air.
dont know if anyone answered, but i believe the reason the alien changed up what it was doing was cuz the sister put out the fake horse and it "ate" it, and since it wasnt meat, it got stuck in its intestine and it pissed it off and hurt it so it was mad at the intruders of "his territory"
Yes, I love The Black Phone so much. I just had to buy it on dvd when It went on there because I loved it so much in the theaters & was going crazy just waiting to see it again. Such a good film. The score is fire.
I like the fact that you could edit out the Little Movies but you chose to keep their interruptions in. FYI UAP stands for Unidentified Aerial Phenomena.
Apart from the well camera, I think the film camera the old guy took I think the film canisters broke open when they fell to the ground because it was seen flapping on the ground, so it was over exposed rendering it useless. Old film needs processing.
Interesting comparison of evangelion angels and Jean jacket. I definitely recognized the Akira motorcycle slide that was in there. I don't think it's a stretch to say he may have drawn inspiration from anime.
From blurry memory of the trivia section, it did say the evangelion similarity was intentional. I gained a extra notch of respect for 'ME' the guy and the wife is 'YOU' right? i never caught their names... inference to evangelion being my own fav anime of all time.
There are real life stories and some photography of phenomena like this. Especially the cryptic sounds from the sky. over the last 10 years there have been more and more recordings of sky sounds.
I saw this on an IMAX screen and was blown away. Apart from Hoyte van Hoytema's stunning cinematography, the sound design was cool. A great addition to the Peele trilogy. By the way, we all need cheesestick breaks!
Some folks don't like bc they expect pure horror.. In "Jaws" it happen to act the same; the music alerting you about his presence and the camera from underwater make you think the shark is near to attack, all of that gives you chills but to some turns into an adventure movie between the 3 characters against this creature an killing it with something explosive to be the "like" of all the spectators. But that doesn't make this movie and the other i mentioned a bad thing, an example: the 1rst Gremlins its consider Horror but also has some comedy and action, with explosions too xD

I love the ratio that you guys show the movie you’re reacting to. You can easily see the movie. A lot of other reaction channels have the movie ratio too small, or it’s covered with their channel’s logo over it.
I really LOVED this movie. It was so mysterious and very wonderful! Great cast Great acting! I walked away amazed!!
I always laugh when your guys daughter comes in and the audience track kicks in
fun fact: the sound at 30:34 from the sky was the alien echolocation. it can emit ultrasound to hunt.
In the span of 2 short hours this managed to become my favorite Peele movie and as one of the only movies I saw this year, my favorite.
Cheese Sticks Are Life! 🧀 Great reaction you two!
Beginning of the film it had eaten the hikers that were mentioned in the news as being missing. I learned theory from a breakdown video.
You need to change the channel title to You, Me, our Kids, & The Movies lol...I love when they come in unexpectedly.
8:25
"You need cheese sticks?"
"...ok"
😂
About the shoe in the set of GORDY's and the thing of been in that position have a explanation, is in the scene when OJ talk about the "Bad Miracle". Jup it's watching somethin amazing, something he can't explain and it make him feels unique and special but at the time it happen is in a bad moment and in a bad place.
Its been eating the whole movie. The screams start at the beginning 😊
Amazing film! The sound design and lighting in it was just unreal. Absolute best nighttime scenes I've ever seen in a movie. Beautiful cinematography, perfect pacing, great performances, and well executed cosmic horror make thiis movie easily his best technical work imo. The way he builds tension with a simple cloud and quick pan is incredible.. Felt very Spielberg at times, but still very much his own style.
Get Out is still my personal favorite and Us is underrated af, but this was proof hes gonna be around for a long time as an S tier filmmaker.
Keke deserves an award for this
Indeed! 🏆
also, congrats to Keke, she just announced her pregnancy
I think this might be the most accurate horror title ever to what most people would do in the character’s shoes. “Oh let’s explore spooky haunted place!” To which 99% of sane people will just be “nope, I’m out. I’ve seen how this movie ends in countless variations. I’m not becoming the next ‘based on a true story’ horror flick”:
Space Jaws. ^^
That's just f***ing brilliant.
AWWWWWWWWW HAHAHHAHA THE LITTLE GIRL 😂💕
Welcome to the United States!
They started the movie with them saying hikers have gone missing. That was the scream at the beginning before the dad died
The terrifying sounds coming from within the alien creature was reminiscent of the JAWS theme music effect. This movie truly gives you chills.
Nope is one of if not my favorite movie of 2022.
u had me at "my favorite anime, evangelion" !! Hug
8:14 is absolutely glorious. 👏🤩
“I need some cheese sticks” she just like me forreal
It opens fully like that to try to get you to look at it more.
dont know if anyone answered, but i believe the reason the alien changed up what it was doing was cuz the sister put out the fake horse and it "ate" it, and since it wasnt meat, it got stuck in its intestine and it pissed it off and hurt it so it was mad at the intruders of "his territory"
easily one of my favourite movies in recent years, glad ur reacting to it!!
Agua Dulce is 20 mins north of me.. Some of the most rural you'll see Los Angeles County :D
This movie is like JAWS but with a UFO, mixed with TREMORS.
Yeah definitely has Tremors vibes
Excited for this reaction!
Also, for The Black Phone reaction!!
Think y’all will do a favorite films of the year video?? 🙏🏼
As a Floridian, it definitely reminded me of creatures like jellyfish when it was feeding
Yes, I love The Black Phone so much. I just had to buy it on dvd when It went on there because I loved it so much in the theaters & was going crazy just waiting to see it again. Such a good film. The score is fire.
@@Damiana_Dimock yeah, same. I thought the creature definitely looked like a strange looking jellyfish combined with a ufo 🛸.
The Photographer Is Played By Michael Wincott ( The Mob Boss In The Crow.)
I like the fact that you could edit out the Little Movies but you chose to keep their interruptions in. FYI UAP stands for Unidentified Aerial Phenomena.
🤣 " they live fight was longer than Keith David's life in nope "
At 34:05 more than likely he was listening to vaperwave. It's a genre of music
Me getting called out for eating flaming hot Cheetos while watching this video: 👁👄👁
There are real life stories and some photography of phenomena like this. Especially the cryptic sounds from the sky. over the last 10 years there have been more and more recordings of sky sounds.
"Vivarium" and "Dark City" are my favorite unusual takes on Aliens/Abductions
One of the best UFO movies ive seen close encounters of the 3rd kind. Yes I said that. I just wish it was an hour longer.😊
Never can pass up a good cheese stick.. Idk about you two, but I completely get it... Big fan of hugs too.. Lmao. Love ya'll..
The hugs are best part. World needs more hugging and less mugging
I adore when your baby comes to the room, so cute 💜
Peele said he pulled the most inspiration from Jaws. Can definitely see it.
Nice AKIRA bike shot! Hey there's a movie to review!
Great movie, put it on to clean my room, but the first 5 minutes made me sit down and watched the whole movie. 😅
I saw this on an IMAX screen and was blown away. Apart from Hoyte van Hoytema's stunning cinematography, the sound design was cool. A great addition to the Peele trilogy. By the way, we all need cheesestick breaks!
magic hour is also in the morning before sunrise
Some folks don't like bc they expect pure horror..
In "Jaws" it happen to act the same; the music alerting you about his presence and the camera from underwater make you think the shark is near to attack, all of that gives you chills but to some turns into an adventure movie between the 3 characters against this creature an killing it with something explosive to be the "like" of all the spectators. But that doesn't make this movie and the other i mentioned a bad thing, an example: the 1rst Gremlins its consider Horror but also has some comedy and action, with explosions too xD
Glad I'm not the only one that questioned the Cactus icee flavor
Glad you enjoyed it
At the start of the movie when the dad died, it ate 15 hikers. And it dropped the coins and keys and all the other stuff.
They had me looking at the sky after seeing the trailer lol. One time riding to work was looking at sky with radio on then that song from this sunglasses came on I was like oh shot lol. That gordy stuff is freaky lol. Yeah seems like he was spooked by the popping balloons and if anyone confronted him or made any sounds. Then when he came back sat down nudged that woman's foot he was calmed down though he knew he was bad cause he threw his hat down lol. Felt bad but dam that look when he looked our way lol. Omg this so cool lol. This alien looked so amazing sounds so amazing flew so amazing sucked them up so amazing lol. Everything about this movie amazing. And that's a amazing song too especially Jean jacket version. I like how it switches back and forth lol. And that screams from the sky omg lol. They were feeding the alien that's why you saw the headlights. They looked like headlights but obviously looked like UFO in trailer lol. And that scene in house damg that a scary if it was happening lol. Its been eating people in last six months. There were missing hikers at beginning and the search team that was looking for them went missing too lol. With subtitles on it'll day that lol. If he had a camera he could have gotten a good shot of it there lol
