I rebuilt the rear bumpers on a 1978 sl500.. I found alot of rust I had to clean and repair. Bumpers.. The rear valance was mint. I fixed the high revs on the engine.. I'm 44 years of age. I never worked on sl just used my common sense. I'm proud its up and running no one else could get it running proper.
Sooooooo much rust!!!! You are pretty amazing at dealing with it and keeping your sense of humor. My wife is talking about us maybe changing our bumpers from the US bench seat style to the (her words) more sexy Euro style. Would you be interested in making a video of this feat of engineering when I’m back in the UK this summer?
Hi John - bumper change is a good idea and will transform the car...and your wallet. In theory, the switch over should take more than an afternoon....depending on what you find. Let's hook up when you are back. Mike
