    Brock was amazing to watch live. I was at the top of the mountain in that fucking freezing cold rain and wind in '87 and he'd come across the top half sideways at 200+ kmh arm on the window and wave at the screaming crowd when he got to third behind those Eggburgers. The crowd would go nuts towards everytime he passed the end.

    Now this is real cars racing. None of this current day one cat spec we see today. If only we could go back hey, we'd appreciate it all even more.

    To see these races a second time after all this time is a thought or two for an old ford/racing lover, the memories, dreams and feelings. thankfully in this age Ford can, must identify as winner of all races ever always for the sake of diversity, love and the virtuous way! Amen.

    These were my youngster hay-day times and the most amazing period of Australian motor-racing. In retrospect its amazing to me that the massive sized fords can hold their own against the light and nimble A9X V8 Torana. Credit where credit is due.

    Harvey spun Seton. That car was probably the only Torana racing in 14" wheels. I raced against it regularly in the late 80s.

    • @darrenparkinson4576

      He was running third and then Harvey spun him out. A desperate move by Harvey to stay behind Brock for a 1-2 finish.

      Oh Dude!!!! You must be head-butting brick walls for getting rid of it huh. I think we've all owned cars that we wish we'd kept (even if they'd been smashed up!!) - but not too many of us can say we had an A9X !!!! Well, at least you got to own a very unique piece of history.

    I was sitting in the grandstand as a 12 year old for this race. There was big hype around the Cobras before the race but Brock was too good.

    • @Steveaustin007
      @Steveaustin007 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ford didn’t spend any money on the Cobras - they just thought 2 stripes over the top of the car would be enough.

    Who else remembers the days when you could tell what make a car was without having to go to a program and check the numbers.
    Of course, ANY Australian car fan would instantly recognise an A9X Torana.
    Now, all the cars look the same, have the same tech, and cost too much for the average person to buy.
    Now I understand why older people talk about 'The good old days'.

      back in the day GM did not want Holden to go racing hence the Marlboro HDT (Holden Dealer Team) logo
      although it was backed by Holden in secret
      it was only later that it became a full blown out of the closet so to speak factory team HRT (Holden Race team)

    The falcons were a wallowing boat. They came standard with sea sick tablets and life jackets. The a9x was so superior it was laughable. Moffat the whining sook would’ve been hating every minute.

    • @ivanjulian2532
      @ivanjulian2532 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chassis flex. They lacked torsional stiffness. The chassis couldn't handle stiffer suspension because the chassis itself would act like a spring. Retro versions of that Falcon now have modern roll cages which stiffen the chassis immensely, but even then, the the car was still 300kg heavier than the matching A9X.
