so on the oil question bricky, not only do the bugs HAVE oil, they decompose into it, theres a lot of signs in the game that super earths government actually faked the bug invasion and just released them onto planets so that they would be killed in mass and provide plenty of oil

We were farming them, then they got out of their farms and started running across the worlds. Only big question is that we don’t know how they get from planet to planet. So it could be the government is dumping them on planets. However during the first war we never figured it out either when they were a legitimate new threat.
@@argetlam05they’re bugs they got options. Hitching a ride or going Tyranid and just Hive Ship flying from place to place.
Basically after Helldivers 1 the victorious humans coralled bugs into "E710 farms" where we then butchered them for oil. They're an enemy force in Helldivers 2 because they got out.
I like how Helldivers can go from “wow these bugs are so fun to kill, it’s like Starship Troopers lol” to Vietnam flashbacks with the robots in the trees
That chill feeling against bugs vanishes the moment you kick the difficulty up to 7. Having multiple titans and spewer artillery will leave you non-verbal.
God help you if there's multiple Stalker lairs.
Even the bugs on harder difficulties can get fucking intense

@@The1337guy1I have made it my mission in helldivers to track down and eliminate nests with stalker nests as a priority. A single eagle airstrike is often enough if placed well and it prevents at least 5 deaths to pop it warly

I get that perception is different when you're in the game rather than watching a video, but it's still hilarious that a pillar of red light for the stratagem almost right in center of Bricky's screen can still be missed by him.
The game can get hectic, making it easy to miss obvious things.

The name is so similar. Hell, even Terminids sounds like Tyranids. This game is inspired by 40k almost as much as it is by starship troopers.

The 380mm barrage cant hit even the same post code. But it will annihilate anything you love, including yerself.
Orbital barrages are really handy not in attack, but as an area denial stratagem, they're great at annihilating whatever horde is chasing after you for example, or to lock down choke points

Starship Troopers wasn’t subtle, but the satire was overwhelmed by genuinely dope action
Despite also having really good action, Robocop’s satire was much more clear
Like for example, Murphy’s death is horrifying in “Robocop”, but the disregard Robocop in treated with is just as unenjoyable; I appreciate the “young, pretty, gullible” characters of “Starship Troopers” are supposed to parable against a fascist junta radicalizing its citizens into violence, but there are are so many sequences that are well shot and edited but wholly committed to the heroism… essentially the movie is often too fun for satire to hit
it also doesnt help that verheoven had a literal child's interpretation of fascism
@@Average_M05_EnjoyerAs a satire of any political stance Starship Troopers is a failure. You have to either abide by the directors word 1 to 1 and never think for yourself to reach that endpoint. Which is really lazy, it's a crap talking point that I don't think most people think about because they don't know what Fascism is, they're lucky enough to be born in a free western nation and not peak Fascist Italy, Spain, or Germany.
They see Neil Patrick Harris in a black trenchcoat and go "I've seen that color before, bad guys wear it." Because the political satire of the movie is so superficial it's insane.
It also doesn't help that Starship Troopers' satire is also really bad since the director has no idea what fascism actually is, beyond snappy dress uniforms.

I LOVE the tiny Mario party minigame to use stratigims, it is by far my favorite part of both helldivers 1 and 2.
I’m hoping that they’ll add armor coloring in an update. And maybe ship customization. We already know that they’re planning on gun customization too. Armor being split up for arms and leg would be neat too

Nice to see Brickerson's first experience with the horror enemies that are Stalkers.
So if we have to be nerdy here, the EAT-17 is an expendable rocket launcher, which fires rockets (duh), the recoilless rifle, which is heavily inspired by the real life Carl Gustav, is essentially a shoulder-mounted cannon which propels high explosive anti tank grenades (and a plethora of other munitions, even illumination flares), it has virtually no recoil due to the charge's explosion being partially vented out the back, which negates recoil, in game I believe it also does a bit more damage
P.S.
It's cool that they modelled it this accurate because as opposed to the rocket launcher, where the whole munition is propelled, when reloading the recoilless you have to extract the casing first which I love

I would not be shocked if those who said 'it was subtle' watched it when they were like 10 like I did, and then were TOLD it was a subversive satire, WAY later on in their life and they never watched the movie a second time. Because that's KIND OF what happened to me originally but then I had it pointed out to me at like 13 and re-watched the movie and 'got it'.
Managed Democracy actually sounds kinda good, in countries with more than two political parties we tend to find that a lot of people just vote for "their team" and sometimes completely incongruent with their actual beliefs, because they BELIEVE the party stands for something that it historically doesn't vote on.
You'd need a truly impartial AI though which would be tricky as any bias in production and training would skew the results.
I think that's the point of the satire here. It's a ridiculous term that sounds good in theory, but in practice it is laughably easy to manipulate without multiple layers of checks and balances since citizens won't bother researching themselves and are perfectly happy to let the government say "this is what you voted for" if the only people that needs to be controlled are whoever is in charge of analyzing and processing the personality quiz "votes"
It's pretty much what Domini0n Voting Systems wishes they could openly sell to governments. A system so open to being manipulated that it's impossible to believe it would ever give legitimate results.

Starship troopers is subtle? The first time I saw it as a kid it was just a cheesy action movie. But ya know, as a kid. Watching it again as an adult its an entirely different film.
Plus didn't the director literally say he wanted to make a movie so obvious in its purpose it would be physically painful to deal with the idiots who didn't get it? Like the first scene is literally a lesson on the "right of might". The guns are all legally distinct m16s, the intelligence officers wear SS uniforms, and the big bads are literal bugs. How can you possibly get less subtle?
You could literally start the movie qith a banner that says "fuck fascists and the military induatrial complex" and some people would still miss it.
