    I grew up on a small farm in Minnesota. When I was a kid we raised about 150 bull calves a year and farrow to finish 100 sows. We never had a skid loader dad said we didn't need one. I was the last kid and went to college in the fall of 1988. Came home after about a month and in the yard was a brand new skid loader. I asked my dad you always said we didn't need a skid loader. My dads immediate response was when I had you around we didn't need a skid loader. Turns out the salesman told him to use that line when I asked.
    I have been blessed to work all my life with my dad. Farming is a good life I wouldn't trade it for all the money I could've probably made doing something else. Skid loaders have made it better.
    Enjoy your life it's a good one. Love your video's

    i use note books to keep track of all my maintenance done to my machines. including tires and battery dates and hours. that way i don’t over look something or change out a filter too soon and waste time and money. plus a detailed maintencance book is great for resale.

      My job uses a "white board" for all of the filter #s and last service date/ hours. We can tell at a glance what is coming due for service, and can check inventory for needed filters.

    Trust me a couple hundred in maintenance now is cheaper than 2 to 3 grand when something fails and has to be replaced on an emergency basis. I had one carrier that did oil changes at 100K miles on trucks with no bypass filters and ran standard grade diesel oil in the trucks. They could never figure out why their trucks needed rods and main bearings at 400K miles and why their trucks had more engines blow up from oil system failures than normal. Yet another carrier I drove for had the same oil change interval of 100K ran fully synthetic oil with .5 micron bypass filters changed out every 25K when the trucks were greased and given a general looking over. Oil samples were pulled every 25K also and if anything showed up that truck was fixed. Boss never had a problem and he had trucks with 2 to 3 million miles on them.

    We had to drain and rinse out my fuel tank on my imported Volvo EC55 excavator, as it was filled with sand and shit at the bottom. Half inch layer of gunk was a handful to get out, for sure. The suction filter clogged all the time and we had a lot of issues with it before that job was done.

      Its better if you don't. I know some places do, doesn't mean they're not forcing water where it shouldn't be (into electrical connections, past seals, etc.). Esp if your using a powerful washer/ a focused wand tip.
      If you must, try to stay away from or far back from any of that stuff. I've seen water make its way past seals before/go through hyd breathers. Even some stuff thats designed to be 'weatherproof' just cant handle high pressure water. Very possible it'll bite you down the road.

    Hey Eric bro. can i pls make a small suggestion? park him in one of the empty silage bunker, and use a powerful leaf blower (after removed the external filters and panels etc ) go ALL over the cab the top, the EVERYTHING. . but aim it in the same general direction. Because water just makes particles stick. most leaf blowers also suck so you can pick up the dust and bits too afterwards. much better alternative to water for the initial cleanup. Cheers. Rob.

    If the suction filter for the hydraulic system is metal, clean it out with solvent and reinstall it. Also if the inner air filter is clean, that means the outer filter is doing its job and you don’t need to replace the inner one.

    • @MorganOtt-ne1qj
      @MorganOtt-ne1qj ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The inner filter is a finer particulate filter. You don't save anything by not changing it every time you change the outer primary filter. In for a dime, in for a dollar.

    • @ctdieselnut
      @ctdieselnut ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MorganOtt-ne1qj you save the price of the inner filter. They're sold separately.
      I generally agree with the in for a penny, in for a pound idea, and it really is pennies compared to an engine rebuild. But, if its clean, its clean. You can tell if it isn't. It probably does filter out smaller particles than the outer does, but i always thought of it as more of a saftey in case some gets by/through the outer.
      On another note, ive seen guys put a bead of grease around the end to help it seal like gasket maker. If the inner is getting actually dirty, this may help a poor sealing outer.
