  • WWE Hall of Famer, Alundra Blayze, also known as Madusa, is truly the trailblazer for the current women's revolution. From starting the Monday Night war with trashing the WWF Women's Championship title in a trash can to making history by becoming the first woman to win the WCW Cruiserweight Championship, Madusa continued to elevate the women's wrestling scene.
With the help of Ring the Belle women's wrestling fans, Madusa and I discussed Top 5 moments of her career which included winning the reinstated WWF Women's Championship from a match with Heidi Lee Morgan, WWF SummerSlam match against Bull Nakano, and Scaffold match against Torrie Wilson at WCW. We also have a favorite moment from her fellow WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix's favorite moment with Alundra Blayze.
Huge thanks for Madusa for sitting down with us to count down the Top 5 moments with us. Please check out the Indiegogo page for documentary, "Madusa: My Personal Revolution Series."

My favourite Madusa moment was actually her match against Bull Nakano at Big Egg Wrestling Universe, when Bull Nakano defeated her to win the Women’s championship. Omg her entrance with the motorcycles was so badass! Especially for 1994 in women’s wrestling in a sold out Tokyo dome! Evolution before the evolution

Yay look at DS interviewing yet another wrestler, probably going to do all the editing of this video too, he traveled just so we could enjoy this interview. See THIS is why I stan ring the belle, THIS is a co-host that puts in the work to give us quality content. He doesn't just sit there behind the camera with his extremely biased opinions and complain about their faves not being used properly. This is a real host of a show and a real journalist. Go DS!!

She should've gotten the Raw Women's championship aswell. A lot of male legends come back and almost automatically wins those, like Goldberg. Alundra was a hell of a wrestler and so technical. As great as that 24/7 title is, a proper women's championship would've been even greater. 💪🏼

One of the all time greats is Madusa/Alundra Blayze. I grew up with the women of this era and a little earlier and i always felt Madusa's pain when womens wrestling went to crap for some time after her pinnacle. A nice nod to Heidi Lee Morgan also as she was a damn good firecracker of a worker.
It is women like Madusa that made me a fan of womens wrestling, she is always so nice in interviews also yet still maintains a "say it how it is" demeanour which i respect. She has been good enough to answer my questions on social media over the years and i am sure her new documentary will be fantastic viewing.
Nice interview as always DS, DS has a natural likeability , he is not OTT or a attention seeker, he is respectful and fun and asks the stuff we want to know.

I gotta say, I really enjoyed this interview because I'll admit I never watched Madusa back in the day and it's a great insight to know how she does her thing within the business as a whole. It's truly amazing how she expresses her views for women's wrestling and how far it has changed the business especially how it came full circle to become a thing where both men and women share a main event status nowadays compared to how it was back then around the late 90s and 2000s. I believe she has to be one of most entertaining yet outgoing people for the women's division that knows the ins and outs of it.

Madusa was the prototype for women's wrestling in the late 80s and 90s. She could do just about everything in the ring. Loved the matches with Bull Nakano.
I think they get overlooked but the matches with Bertha Faye in the mid 90s were AWESOME! Bertha was like Adrian Adonis. You looked at her size and didn't think she could do much but brawl but she was so quick and agile. LOVE those matches with Bertha Faye. Plus the music, wippleman fawning over her, was just perfect

Thank you DS!!!! I got into Madusa's work about a decade after Vince let her go. I was so shocked to see her matches with Bull Nakano because I didn't know that women could work like that before early 2000s era with Trish, Lita, Victoria, Jackie, Molly, Ivory, Jazz, etc. And Moolah's era wasn't as impressive so seeing Madusa and Bull Nakano, Bertha Faye, that insane Survivor Series tag from 1995, I was shook!
I get a frustrated that she and the women's division were cut in 95 then she went to WCW and risked her career to pull that belt stunt that Bischoff told her to do, only to get teased with a short lived WCW women's division and championship (that she never held) then after taking a few years off they teased her again by just having a roster full of models who didn't know how to work. Thank goodness she had Molly to play around with for a little while but they were screwing with her by having her work the Cruiserweight division.
I still think that had Vince kept Madusa and kept building the women's division going into the Attitude Era, the entire perception of women's wrestling in North America would be completely different. Alas, we got what we got. I agree with Madusa, the women of the past really do deserve more recognition.

Hey DS! Realised whenever you have the ipad to show your guests videos, the ipad seems to be much closer to you and the ladies have to lean way forward to watch it. Maybe put it closer to them or at least in the middle? Just a suggestion, btw thanks for superb quality contents like this!

One of my favorite moments was Alundra Blayze vs Leilani Kai at Wrestlemania X. It was short but back then it was rare to see a women’s championship match at Wrestlemania. She seems like a really cool person to talk too great interview.

She and all of the great wrestler from her era, Bertha Faye, Bull Nakano, etc deserve a lot more credits. They were soooo good they could make attitude era women looked like good amateur. Like seriously I doubted Ivory & Jacqueline was ever that good. Not even close. Problems with her is that there are very2 few women who could wrestle as great as she could. Finding her a great opponent was a tough task.

She’s so right. The attitude era women don’t get enough love nowadays. It’s not their fault that they had to do all those gimmick matches, they just did what they were told. I want a Debra McMichael interview so bad.
