- Measuring stairs and counting them in the finished square footage. Stairs are simple. Don't make them more complicated than they need to be. Basic explanation of how stairs should be measured per ANSI.

Won't there be a new dormer created in the space you are standing (at the large window) when the staircase is imaginarily lifted to the same floor height/level above? Won't that have to be measured?
Double-counting stairs is the ANSI standard? They are included on the first main level and the 2nd level. Then why measure them? Does not the ANSI standard say to include them on the level from which they descend, the 2nd level? Then they should NOT be included in the bottom main floor right? I think that is right or there would not be ANY reason to measure and differentiate the stairs at all. To me when you do have something under the stairs that has finished living area utility, closet i.e. that should be counted but from what I read it is not to be. This is a bunch of baloney. I say count the entire first floor then cut-out the stairs area from the 2nd floor and be done with it, but it appears that it is the opposite to cut it out from the main floor because the stairs are ascending and part of the 2nd floor and should be cut out of the main floor, but you say no double-count them and include them on both floors. Is not the purpose of using ANSI to NOT do this? I seen 2 of your vids and both times you cay count the stairs for both the 1st and 2nd floor. Again if so why measure them since you are not subtracting them from either floor? Every comment I seen from your 2017 video also did not understand.
It's what's "under neath the stairs" on the lower that get counted!!! i.e a closet or a 1/2 bath may be there, and get counted in the sf on the lower level
