Improving soil to increase sugarcane yield

DAF agronomists have been working with sugarcane growers to find ways to improve yield across their farms. In this video, we are working with growers who are keen to try new ways to improve cane yield on their sugarcane farms in the Wet Tropics. We use drone technology to identify poor growing areas within their paddocks and look at ways to improve the water and nutrient holding capacity of these soils to significantly increase crop yield. We use a number of different techniques to improve the soil in these poor areas, including adding subsurface organic matter and clay. The results are impressive.
