- Are you looking for an alcohol stove for backpacking, you should consider the Evernew. But be careful, this flame thrower might hurt you. Skippy and myself have tested this for more than one year. We know how it works.

I've used mine for years and I like it. I never use the turbo plate above the burner because it disrupts the flame pattern. They say to use it in extremely cold conditions to speed up the bloom, but I've never found it necessary. Once the burner gets going, the turbo plate can overheat it and you get the runaway flames. Without the turbo plate, the flame stays manageable and nicely centered on the bottom of the pot. The burner and stove makes a nice set.
I always use the outer section and place the burner in that, without the heat plate, works a charm and no runaway flame. I only use both sections if using wood.
Thank you. That is the most alert dog I’ve seen in a long time. As far as Cons on the stove there is also the need to carry a separate fuel bottle as, unlike the Trangia, you can’t seal it up with fuel for a quick outing.
Thats right, you don’t have that option. Thanks for feedback 👍
I have had one for more years then I care to count. I got mine when it came on the market and was called the Evernew Appalachian Set. It always with me on every trip. I don't use the turbo plate in most cases which might be one reason it has not been a flame thrower. One other great benefit is that Titanium cools a lot quicker and is a lot lighter then the others. Evernew also have a great titanium non stick frying pan , I love mine but you have to hold it above the burner to reduce the heat since it has to have a cooler heat source to cook with. I have made some tasty pizzas with it using tortillas.
My one complaint is that the Evernew burner with the extra holes that's not in a Trangia makes the Evernew a fuel hog compared to the Trangia. Plus the Everner does not have the simmering attachment or the extinguishing and fuel saving.
Using the little burner as a wood stove , I used a couple of sticks on the side of an open ( very small ) fire instead as a pot support.
Hammock Gear has a titanium alcohol burner like the Evernew but it has a snuffer top for the burner to extinguish the flame but will not screw onto the burner to save any fuel.
The Evernew Appalachian set , I don't leave home without it.
Just got mine. The review is very helpful, thank you Test Pilot!
Thanks for you comment. I like it and use it a lot, but be careful😜
Fancy feast stove 😊😊😊
I love my evernew burners.
I have one of these but after using it I was pretty disappointed. It IS a crazy flame thrower and goes through fuel like a rocket. Its just not practical which is a shame as its well built and light. Maybe if they reduced the number of jets it would be more manageable.
Thanks for the comment. I still use it a lot, however, only for boiling water etc. If careful you will get boiling water fast🚀🙋🏻♂️
Update : Took it out camping to give it a second chance. This time I only use the upper chamber and place the burner in that. Much much better and now it's my favourite burner lol. Video out this week.
Nice, I just mine in the mail last week. If you want real coffee, have a look at the Esbit coffee maker. Thanks for the upload.
Did you ad a little water to the alcohol? Hmmmm
This is a crazy stove and I have never used mine while camping because it’s not practical. I wish Trangia would make a titanium version of their burner. That would be a better option.
You are right, you have to be careful using this one. However, it will boil your water fast. Thanks for the feedback.
not worth the price...... no way !
