Oh my gosh, a new sock pattern. Cannot wait for it to come out. Please would like to knit my mother in low she is 94 years old and for Xmas plus her Bday /nice present! Thanks, Nancy!!!
Thanks for keeping me company Claudia 💕 I absolutely love coming and having a chat. And thank you for the suggestion...I have a list and I just need to check Ravelry to see if the names already exist 🤓
"Oh dear" - priceless. 🙂 Love the new socks. The wavy pattern reminds me of a "Drunkard's Path" quilt -- a route I've taken a few times myself. Cheers!
I am new to your podcast. Thank you for your honest review of the Field Sweater. I love your new sock design. "Rippling Waves" came to mind when i saw it.
Welcome and thanks for saying hello 👋 I finished the yoke of Field Sweater in time for the show this weekend and it does get easier to read the pattern. When I get home, I need to start doing some Sweater math and carry on knitting 🤓 I hope you'll come back for another visit 🥰
Thanks so much Frances...that's fun for me to hear❣️ I look at it new designs for a long time and I fall in love with them and just hope that other people will too 🤓
Hi, thank you for showing the festival, im excited its the first time i will be going to the PEI festival [or any festival ], if i do see you and im not too shy , will say hi
Yay Marie❣️ You'll love it...it's fantastic to be among people who all love the same thing 🧶🧶 Please come and say hi...I'm shy as well 🤓, but love to talk yarn
Thanks for the podcast! Oh dear, I got the Fields sweater pattern. I actually have the yarn. I haven't started it yet and I think I will wait. I have to many things on needles anyway. Have fun at the festival. PEI sounds wonderful.
Great podcast Nancy! LOVE the socks 😍 Also, I really appreciate your honesty & insight into the Field Sweater. Very unfortunate that it’s not more size inclusive
Thanks so much Joanne❣️ I really debated about making the Field at all, but I paid for it and thought the least I could do was share my opinions...for what they're worth 🤓
Love UR podcasts from UR back porch ,,!!so nice there,,with UR backyard,,, Love UR new socks!!!!so much ,,especially the blue ones,,,, They look so good,,,and fun,,, Your field sweater looks great too,,, Looks like fun at the nova scotia festival ,Glad u got there,,,, Elaine 🏡💖 Have fun next weekend,,,
Brilliant to listen to as usual while I eat my lunch (smoked salmon and philby bagel with fruit and yoghurt afterwards. A name for the new sock "zig zag road" popped I to my head when you asked. Have fun at PEI. Sx
Thanks for hanging out with me again 💕 Thanks for the sock suggestion I've started a list for the name and I just need to check Ravelry for something that doesn't already exist 🧦
I just found you in TH-cam because of the Field Sweater heading. I just bought the pattern and yarn to make this sweater and have been hesitant because of the grain stitch. Seeing your sweater makes me want to jump in and give it a go. I love, love, love your sock patterns. Looking forward to future podcasts. ❤
Welcome Mary❣️ Thanks for giving me a try 🤓 I'm past sleeve separation now after doing some math...I shortened the yoke and had to add extra stitches for my sleeve circumference. The yoke become rhythmic and easy to read once you get going. My biggest tip is to keep that grain increases loose!!! It definitely helps when you have to decrease them. Happy knitting 🧶
Good morning from a beautifully sunny Monday morning! We are enjoying a super long weekend off here in Germany as Tuesday will be our Reunification day. Your 30 minutes minisode just was the perfect time to get a toe on a second sock and weave in the two ends that I had. That means I am now allowing myself a new cast on for Socktober 🎉 yay. All the best, Claudia
How wonderful for you to be able to attend so many lovely yarn festivals! Here in northern CA, we don't have many--although I did attend Lambtown last Saturday. I so enjoy your podcasts. The Field Sweater is on my list, but I haven't started it yet. I appreciate your input!
I've definitely hit the yarn show jackpot this year❣️ The Field Sweater definitely gets easier as you can read your knitting. I haven't tackled the rest of the body and sleeves yet because I need to do Sweater math and my brain doesn't feel up to that this week 🙃 Thanks for spending some time with me 💕
Rex the field sweater. I am a tight knitter and it was a problem.. I am now test knitting the field cardigan and have knitted more loosely and that has helped. It’s a beautiful sweater..
Thanks for spending some time with me Linda. I had read about the loose knitting on the yoke and it definitely made the grains easier to do. I now have to start the sweater math for yoke depth and sleeve circumference...so I haven't touched it in over a week 🤓😳 Hopefully this weekend, I will have the brain space to do it 🤞
@@knitsiphappy just to let you know my pullover fit perfect but the test knit cardigan is a little tight. No positive ease whatsoever. It’s very snug I think if I would have known no positive ease I would have increased or gone up a size.
What a great mini episode. That new sock pattern is going to be gorgeous. Hmmmm names I am awful at that but the pattern reminds me of the rail road bridges that have the cross cross design. Maybe Crossing Tracks?
Thanks for the offer Rachel 💕 I'm not doing an open test call for this one, but if you could email me nancy@knitsiphappy.com and let me know your preferred size and then I have you in my files 🤓
Another great episode! Thanks for the company while I knit my Turtle Dove. Love the Field Sweater but the sizing kept me from purchasing, kinda glad now! Sappy Hipping! 😜
It's so darn pretty that I'm trying to forgive its flaws 😕 I'm done the yoke and now I need to start doing sweater math for yoke depth and sleeve circumference. Thanks for listening to me whine 😉
Thank you for another enjoyable vlog! I do love to see what you are working on. I’m glad you spoke about the field sweater since I’ve been hemming and hawing about it. Now I know that it would not work as a relaxing garment project for me. I’m tempted by the top you are wearing though. right now I’m on a family-visit holiday in the Netherlands so it’s all about the small, portable projects at the moment. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. Until the next time. Salam wa sa’aadah
Lovely to see you here Linda❣️ I hope you're enjoying your time with family...the Netherlands is on my list of places to travel. The Field is such a tricky subject...I'm loving the look of it, but the pattern is such a pain. We'll see how I feel about it at the end 🤓
I just finished the Field Sweater after a rough start. I had to frog 3 times as I was dropping stitches and misunderstanding the directions. I was determined not to give up as it is a stunning design and I had purchased the yarn specifically it. By the 4th try, I could read my knitting well enough to be able to back it up to fix errors and spot those dropped stitches sooner. I am thrilled with the final product and can't wait for it to dry to take pictures and wear it. Your sample is lovely.
Oh Janet!!! It definitely felt tricky to get going on it. I've had quite a few people reach out and ask for help. I'm done with the yoke and I've steamed it to take to PEI tomorrow. When I get home, I need to start figuring out my modifications 🤔 I'm glad that you won and I'm sure you'll love your new sweater 💕
I'm working on it too, oh my! Those stitches tbl drove me nuts! I messed up once but after 4 hours! I kept going. I'm back on track so hopefully I'll be done the yoke in a bit. Yours looks amazing in that blue.
Hello from Canada 🇨🇦 Have you had snow yet? We've been lucky and just Frost so far! The Field has a rhythm to it and once you get going it's pretty smooth sailing...just keep those grains nice and loose 🤓 Thanks for spending some time with me 💕
@@knitsiphappy Thanks for replay. We don't have any snow yet, it has been a long and wet Autumn here in the west part of Norway. :) I live by the fjord, and there is usually very little snow here. Hi Nancy- thanks for your thoughts and tips about the Field pullover. I have dyed the yarn but now I think I’ll finish all my wips before tackling it….sounds like it might need all my brain space!
Love the socks Nancy, already thinking what’s in my stash to knit with them 😊. I am waiting for the field cardigan to come out, I prefer cardigans to jumpers, so thanks for the heads up and looking forward to hearing how you get on with the 5 yo ❤
Thanks so much Carol❣️ The sock pattern is in testing and should be out in a couple of weeks 🧦 Keeping those increases loose on the Field made the K5tog not too difficult 🤓
Your Field sweater is looking beautiful so far. I appreciate your feedback on the pattern since this sweater has been on my radar. I love the new socks. The zigzag section made me think of wiggles and thought a play on the expression sh_ts and giggles might be fun. Strips and Wiggles? Stripes and Wiggles? Something like that. Hi Nancy. It’s sad about the field sweater. It’s beautiful. Shame that it is not size inclusive or more thorough pattern for less experienced knitters. New sock pattern is wonderful. From seeing second sock, I thought of looking at a garden through a chain fence. Maybe that could spark a name for socks.
I knit tightly so if I have a pattern that has knit three or more together (or knit into the same stitch three times) I make my left needle two sizes smaller than my right needle. It just gives me a little more room to create the stitches.
Love the new sock pattern! Do you need testers? I’d definitely sign up! Thank you for the review of the Field Sweater pattern. As much as I would love to knit it (I’m at the top end of the sizes available) I won’t support a designer who’s patterns are not size inclusive. Apparently she’s pretty hostile when people have asked-nicely-if she would consider grading her patterns for larger sizes. I don’t understand why someone wouldn’t want to expand their customer base. 🤦♀️
Thanks Karen❣️ I really debated as to whether I was even going to knit it...But I already bought it and I've never tried any of her patterns before. I won't be supporting her anymore and I thought my honest opinions about the pattern might be useful. I had so many questions about it
I bought the Field Cardigan pattern and it has the same issues, AND there is a huge error in the pattern on line 24. But all the project notes from other knitters (mostly test knitters) are gushing about how wonderful the pattern is. Nobody mentions the very significant error. The design is beautiful, but I cannot believe nobody else has found this error. It almost seems like there’s some sort of suppression of critiques on Ravelry.
