Along with their takes on various classical works, they've done ABBA (''Money, Money, Money'', ''S.O.S.'', ''The Winner Takes It All''), Supertramp (''Logical Song''), Tears For Fears (''Shout''), Survivor (''Eye of The Tiger'') & The Eagles (''Desperado''), all very good.

Yes. Back then DP was the heaviest band around, they held the record for being the loudest band ever in Guinness book of records (Have no idea if that has changed). Most vocalists tried to immitate Ian Gillan's screaming vocals. It might be just my impression but I have yet to find anyone remotely as good as he was in vocal presentation (Blackfoot - Marauder album comes close, though). Live in Japan is an unmatched album in all aspects. Have been a huge fan of DP for last 40 some years.
Dylan Arthur Deep Purple is huge in Japan, there’s even Blackmores bar which is a deep purple themed karaoke bar. It only makes sense that this would be in the Japanese cut of the album.
I have to agree with you. The best one that I heard next to Deep Purple was by a southern band called Point Blank. They added some harmony vocals at the end of the chorus that were nice but nobody did it better that Purple.
I am not that old that i can say that i am a fan of dp over 40 years. i just have their cd from japan and i listened to their studio version and prefer the live cd more. and I have something heard about the heaviest band of the end 60s and begin 70s deep purple and black sabbath were both the heaviest band back in the days. but i am just 5 years fan of DP and 6 years of black sabbath (i am just 18 years old guitar player)

You are partially right. The Live in Japan version is a killer. However, DP music must be played on really good sound system. Then it comes alive. Th album version is just as good when played on pricey system. Nobody knows power like DP. All their flagship songs have unmatched power.
on my sony music system with pioneer speakers with the power of 575 watt will do the job. still I like their live album from 1970 japan then their original. his vocals are more heavier, (it sounds like he is screaming sometimes like a metal vocalist and I like that) but on original he didn't do that. it was to clean for me XD
I've never said anything you suggest. There are good covers of this songs but they still lag the perfection of the original. Not going into details here but there are some very obvious shortfalls of those covers due to lack of understanding the cadence and dynamics of the song and its natural flow as it was felt and understood by the original creators. Not trying to discount the effort, although I always find it to be a waste of time to try do any cover.

You can find a ton in the metal genre, especially power metal.
