I’m so sorry, I didn’t see your message till now 😞 I hope you have tried it by now and it worked for you. Thank you for watching my videos and have a wonderful Easter.
Heavy hammers will also damage the surface with less control, the hammer I used is lighter and easy to use, Harbor Freight carry them. Thanks for watching.
Thank you for watching my videos and yes I use the rolling mill for that, the plates are expensive but a lot of work goes into them and the material is not cheap anymore, the best place to get them is from Roberta Pihl she’s on Facebook and here’s her website. Oregontrailsilver.com Good luck!
I would also like to know who makes your plate and what the pattern is? it is really a beautiful pattern. Thank you for the demo on how to get pattern on copper without a mill. I love your videos.
Hello Emmy, thanks for watching my videos and sorry for the late reply. However, you are watching my old TH-cam channel that I can’t upload anymore videos, please subscribe to my new TH-cam channel using the link below. The copper gauge I used in that video was 22 gauge and you can use any gauges around that size. th-cam.com/channels/3zSF2wGBv1pzuUYksU8d3w.html
Hi Elie. I'm not financially ready for a rolling mill yet, so this was wonderful video to stumble upon. Thank you! I'm just wondering about your hammer. I have my shopping cart open (no Harbor Freight here in Canada), but I am faced with quite a few choices of Delrin/Nylon non-marring hammers. They range from a 1" to 1.5" face. I'm assuming a larger face is better; is it? They range from 7 oz to 18 oz., but I see in another comment you recommended not to get an overly heavy one as you have less control (but, my naive logic tells me heavier would be better). Any advice for me? I'm likely overthinking it. I just want the best results without a mill. Thanks in advance!
Hello Queen, in Canada you have Princess Auto is the same as Harbor Freight here. However, the one with 1.5” face should be better, for the weight you can get it somewhere in the middle around 10 oz should be okay and whatever you do don’t hit your fingers 😁. Thank you for watching my videos and don’t forget to subscribe! Have a wonderful Easter.
@@ElieGhanimeEG Thanks so much for the info! The tip about Princess Auto is a great one! I had no idea. I hear about Harbor Freight all the time and wished that we had one. I guess we do! (just subscribed!)
It's just a plastic mallet. You can get them from any jewelry tool supplier and you can probably find one at your local hardware store or Harbor Freight.
Hi Jessica, yes you can. If you need good texture plates go to www.oregontrailsilver.com Roberta Pihl she’s great and she’s on Facebook and she runs the Metal Art Misfits group.

Thank you Elie! I have a plate I was saving to use with a hammer. I don't have a rolling mill or a press. I'll remember to anneal my metal!
Great and watch you don’t hit your fingers 😁
Thank you so much! I damaged one plate hammering with a steel hammer and foil. This method will be perfect ! Can't wait to try it.
I’m sure it will work for you Karine, just be careful not to hit your fingers 😁 and thanks for watching.
Thank you Elie!
Great video -so informative! 5 Stars! And...thank you for sharing your pain - yikes that hurt to look at- so I can't imagine for you.
Thank you Debala, it was painful then but I’m okay now 😁
Thank you. Tried with lead and heavy hammer. Sirt of worked but not happy. This looks much simpler.

It's just a plastic mallet. You can get them from any jewelry tool supplier and you can probably find one at your local hardware store or Harbor Freight.
