I have similar gun and reel , just inverted roller version ( zeso predator 82 ) , i Had to get used to this "freeline" system , i even wanted to rewind the line the opposite direction in order to try to make it "drag adjustable" , but no way...i had to accept it the way it's made...and actually it's not so bad when you get used to it , you can manually slow down reel rotation underwater by your hand ( gloves) with no issues....you just keep your hands on the reel, not on the line ( if you have some serious fish on the spear ) ...anyway , as far as I know , MVD also makes a modified version of this reel with real adjustable drag system , i think they named it MVD NG reel ( NG stands for " new generation" ) for those guys who like to have all features available .... Thanks a lot , good man !!! I got the Zeso Predator 82 ( invert roller version of this MVD gun ) few days ago with similar reel and already thought something was wrong with it ..... hahahahaaa..... Since I'm familiar with spinning ( fishing) reels and pretty curious about how things work, i decided to make a "modification" on this reel and put a small teflon washer ( actually - thin teflon spacer from eBay ) under that tension side knob , thinking that those guys in factory must have been forgotten some similar part in reel"s mechanism , or i just got the faulty reel ( honestly, i was used to horizontal reels and this is my first vertical one ) .... BUT , that small 0.5 mm thick teflon washer i put under the side knob of the reel turned to be quite good solution for me , because now i can alter the "drag" ( unwinding) force in some degree ( not like in the fishing reels , of course , because they have refined drag systems , but fairly good ) . And it even doesn"t change its pre-setting value while winding or unwinding .. The same amount of force is needed to unwind and wind the reel , and if you want to make winding easier , you just looseen the knob a little bit , like in regular factory reel in your video ...... the above mentioned washer i put for probe was 12 mm ( OD) x 6 mm ( ID ) x 0.5 mm ( thick) and fits easily into M size MVD reel i got on my gun ( but you can use one with outer diameter up to 17 mm which can fit perfectly in the hole around the metal screw of that black plastic side "knob" and get even smoother drag control )... So if someone find it difficult to get used on free spool system , he can also try this little " tweek" ...... there is also 0.1 , 0.2 , 0.3 mm etc. thick teflon sheet on the market and one can cut out perfect size washers and test it .... Otherwise, this reel ( with strong s.steel casing and bilateral spool support ) looks very solid and reliable indeed ! And in the meanwhile MVD came with new version of this reel , they call it : MVD NG reel ( NG stands for "new generation" ) with adjustable drag system, I guess they also added some similar washers or so , I didn't have opportunity to see one... BRGDS
It took me a bit to figure this out with my MVD reel, but after using the MVD reel for about a year, I wouldn't go back to the traditional drag type reel. It's really helped out when you're trying to surface and either shot a fish or got your shaft / line stuck. The only thing more I'd want is a line guide for the reel, but that might interfere with the free spooling action.

My reel gets stuck when i shoot it, and when a fish tried to pull drag it tightens up. Am i doing something wrong?
