Dan, thank you for what you have done throughout the years. I went through a stretch the was similar, losing a child, brother, and mother within a year. It is impossible to be your best when so much trauma hits you, but you have to put one foot in front of the other, make tough decisions and not look back. Take the time you need and your audience will understand. You deserve the break for all the joy you've brought to so many. Much love.❤

So, I am not sure I am ready for this as I sit at work getting ready to listen as I do my work. My mother passed away a year and half ago. I have let myself feel my emotions deeply enough to cry only 3 times. The morning she passed, at the end of Black Panther 2 when the Rihanna song came on in the credits, and one of the times Dan discussed the difficulty what he was going through just after his brothers passing. After my dad passed when I was 24 I went to work the next day also (and I think I did after my mom but that is all a blur to me) because I didn't know what else to do.
In writing this I struggle to express my gratitude for Dan's willingness to share this side of him and how, though briefly, it allowed me to feel my loss. Thank you Dan for being so open and vulnerable and not just in showing your emotions but also in verbalizing how difficult it was/is processing your grief. After a year and half in and I cherish the moments when my emotions overwhelm me because otherwise I continue to suppress it and hide from it.

I don’t think people truly understand and appreciate what’s being said here. Dan has made work his tribe; Dan has made his audience his tribe. He is breaking the #1 Rule - the company is not your family. Dan is trying to say that this company he is building is going to be his tribe. Dan has unconditional love for so many of his colleagues, and not all his colleagues show him the same. 😢

I felt extremely heartbroken to hear about the incident with Papi. His joy and laughter on HQ was truly one of the best things on ESPN, a nice break from people arguing about nonsense with the rest of what is on that channel. I hope he's on a better medication now with less side-effects and doing better.

Not going to lie, I was annoyed when I saw this caption in my feed. Over the last 6-months I’ve admittedly grown frustrated with my listening experience because it hasn’t done what it had done for me in the past for me. While struggling through another sleepless night driven by depression and anxiety I decided to give a listen at 4am. I didn’t expect to have the emotional response that came, but it and this was a therapeutic experience. Dan always says, people want to be around the show because it feels like your hanging out with a friends and family and I’ve never felt that more. I appreciate anyone who read this! If you can hear me, just understand I am sorry (extreme Action Bronson voice)

Mike Ryan has to be the most tone deaf person on the planet! Dan clearly is trying to unload something deeply personal and is almost in tears and Mike thinks the subject is.... Marvin Jones Jr.? Every time Dan tries to steer the conversation back to what he's trying to talk about Mike picks up on another tangent to cheerfully run off with. Maybe the adrenaline was just high because he had a microphone in front of him. It reminded me of trying to have a serious talk with a 7 year old!

Dan I lost my sister to cancer cut down at just 23 years old and had my dad only in his early 60s succumb also to cancer so I understand. It was the hardest thing I ever had to do is go to work at my dead end service job knowing my family was hurting and needing me. I respect you so much for working through that. You are people who express all the emotions we all go through and it makes you relatable and comforting. I am sorry for your hardships Dan and i hope we as a community can help you where you have helped us. I know in my worst moments of depression i can listen to your show and for those few hours i get to hear people i know well talking and generally having fun. And if your living life its okay too. The loyal listeners will grow alongside the show, hand in hand. I, for one, don’t want the show from 2015. We’re different people living in a very different world, not acknowledging such, or further, putting on the face of who you think the audience wants you to be, will only read as inauthentic or disingenuous.

  • @drakoramore9

Dan, I personally would prefer to hear these things throughout. I think it might be somewhat therapeutic, but also help us understand what all is going on. Context matters. I have watched the show more over the past few years because you're just being yourselves without the corporate overlords & car washes. Sure, I don't love every character or segment, but you do hours of content every day. Meadowlark is the only sports content I watch besides actual games. Keep up the great work. Your real fans will have your back through all of this.

You do so much for us Dan, and are so very loved for it and for how you’ve pursued your dreams and carried yourself and built your family. You’re an inspiration and now your extended family builds this into an institution as it expands and grows. This is terrible. I have been a fan of the Lebatard show since the early 790 Ticket days. Without trying to be smug, I think Dan should get better/different doctors for his family and himself. I can't believe his brother went this long with a brain tumor and no one did an MRI. I cane believe pappy was left with medication having severe side effects for this long. This is terribly inadequate medical care. This show has been a blessing of laughter for me. I remember the time my son was very unwell, I was on the train almost crying, and heard the first time you guys brought the lie detector officer with Stugotz. I got to cry from laughter, half the train looking at me like I am crazy. I wish Dan and the rest of the crew health. And please... Bring Hoch back. He deserves to be part of the success. Don't know what beef you might have, but now is the time for a Hoch return. Haburgsa con cesso.

Dan’s willingness to be open with the audience about what he’s struggling with makes me feel like it’s OK for me to open up about what I’m struggling with when I’m struggling with things which is something that otherwise a lot of media and a lot of the voices that I see on TV and TH-cam and the Internet don’t allow that. Every person will tell you it’s OK to be emotional. Every dude will say we need to share our feelings more but the reality is most forms of media put down men who show their emotions who are vulnerable and Dan is one of the few people I’ve seen who yeah doesn’t make me feel bad about it

    I'm not crying, you're crying 😢😢
Seriously, it takes an inhuman level of strength to put this out there. I hope Dan finds his peace and comes out stronger on the other side.
PS Mike Ryan definitely sucks at this 😅😅

i enjoy segments like this and the best thing about this show is no matter how big it gets, they still always include the audience. sharing their personal life with us says a lot. we all really appreciate EVERYONE on this show.

Dan, hermano… I am a fan of yours for your humanity , first and foremost! Then your voice , the messages you share interpersonal and observational have resounded with me and shaped my vantage point. Thanks for the probably unintended guidance. I’m a better man for listening !

It is literally the easiest thing to do. People love complaining and making excuses. Every single person I'm this world deals with life. And 99 percent of us do it without money and security
