    For anyone wondering how to add POIs from something other than CompoPack, (I am using MPLogue's A21 Prefabs, and Teragon v0.48.1) you will need to go to the expert tab in Teragon, and add an additional "Add Source Path" command from the left menu - just select it and then click the left-facing arrow at the bottom). Then in the right menu, select your new "Add Source Path" and change the directory to wherever you put the mod with the POI information. For me, it was in my mods folder. It should pull up all of them in the box below the directory button. Make sure to have the checkboxes at the top selected for 'Enabled', 'POIS', and 'Subdirectories'. If I could add a picture to my comment, I would. Much easier than trying to type it out lol

    Teragon really needs a way to create POI and town lists =( The old KingGen did have something like that. I wonder if that could be used now. I want to play with Compo and Darkness falls POIs. And that lack of documentation is soo sad. Many thanks for finding out how this mega-thing works, Tallman Brad

      Yes it does need a built in list generator. Going by the comments in various discords a lot of people will appreciate that. Hopefully this will be added soon. I'm pleased you've found the videos useful and thanks for commenting.

    A question, in Teragon there are colors around the POI in cities. what do those colors mean? I'm not talking about the biomes those have a key in the lower left of the map. but the city colors I can't find a key for them anywhere.

    So im confident i can figure out the poi list om my own but it doesnt automatically include the pois youve made in the poi editor? That kind of blows my mind cause it seems like auch a crucial thing. I like manually placing alot of them when making a custom map because it wouldnt make sense to have doubles of some buildings in a town but ive made dozens of public city works buildings, stores, traders, manufacturing warehouses and other various things ive found listed in the yellow pages that i thought the game could use so it would be nice if i could just manually place them via terragon.

      I can't say for sure but I'm pretty sure this feature is included now. I believe you just specify the directory your POIs are contained in and it will add them. However..... a21...... so there are a lot of things that need adjusting to get things working fully.
      If you have access to Discord I highly recommend joining the official Teragon page where you'll get up to date info and can talk to users that may have a solution for you. There are some very knowledgeable people there and of course the developer himself.

    Hey, just found your videos: Will you do a update for the newest version of Teragon and the Compopack for Alpha 21 when its here?
    Your Teragon-Tutorials helped me realy well. Thanks for them. :)
    Still need to figure out the fine things... but yeah... and the only thing i don't realy like is the lack of Wasteland... i love the Envirormental-World-Gen but would love if we could swap dome bioms on the same hight of forest or desert to Wasteland without changing all...

      Check out some of my other videos for really easy ways to fix biomes. It's as simple as painting the biome you want, where you want it.
      Not got a lot of time for TH-cam videos these days with concentrating on wild west mod development. Will get back to it at some point

    Thank you very much for a stellar tutorial video! Just a quick question if I may: Are there way less wilderness POI generated with the CP presets than normal or is it just me? Is there a way to bump up those numbers?

      It's not just you. I'm banging my head against my keyboard hourly trying to figure out the wilderness spawn situation. Definitely less wilderness with CP and not found a reason why yet. Except maybe it's because a lot of them have specific biome tags ......

    a random question , if i wanted to add other pois from a mod would i just need to use the same process but use the folder with the pois in or would i need the whole mod folder ?

      Unfortunately I'm not sure what the current method is for doing this. I can tell you it was particularly painful while I was recording these videos, however it was very high on the list of things to address. I'm pretty sure a following update allowed you to simply point Teragon to a folder containing POIs you wanted to add to vanilla. Unfortunately I haven't tested this and can't walk you through it. I'm really sorry. I can recommend visiting the Teragon discord though. They are pretty active and I'm sure you'll either find a guide, or at least be able to ask for help. Sorry again.

    do you have any idea what is causing this error? "IndexOutOfRangeException: Index was outside the bounds of the array terragen" i have tried the common fix of deleting the user proflie and other stuff and its not working, this issue seems to appear when im using the pregen maps that i made from teragon only (i am using the compo 48 and i have followed the instruction that u guided from the video) i hope i can get some help from you soon!

      Unfortunately I haven't heard of that error message before. I can recommend having a look at the Teragon Discord page where you might find someone else has reported the same error and.possibly has a solution. If not you should ask. They have a good group of people there.

    I Love this map generator and your tutorials are amazing, thank you for them. I have a quick question, is there a way to limit the number of traders that spawn in the world when you generate it?

      It's currently hard coded to 1 trader per city. Only way to limit it at the moment would be to limit the total number of cities. Or, after you make a map use the game's world editor and erase the traders you don't want. In a future update there'll be more control over specific poi spawn counts, as I am lead to believe. Perhaps traders will be included in that. Early days but already a lot of fun to play with!

    No matter what if I'm using compopack I have a ridiculous amount of wilderness POI's. How do I fix this?

      There is a setting in the current version where you can specify the number of wilderness POIs.

    I have been messing around with Teragon and made some really cool maps for people. But I cant figure out how to make the map I want. I am trying to make a 5k island that is basically a single large city. Issue is it is always a single biome. I know the vanilla map generator can make fairly flat maps with multiple biomes.

      There's an option to turn on the vanilla style biomes in the settings. Disable 'Create Environmental Biomes' and enable 'Create Boise Biome Map'.
      The big city problem is down to the texture of the terrain and possibly your settings for city sizes.

      A few people have reported the same thing when using CP. You might have to use a 10 or 12 until there is an update that helps stability I'm afraid.

    Hello, I am enjoying your series regarding Teragon. I am hoping you can provide guidance as I attempt to edit a map that I found through TH-cam. New York Undead II. I really like the pathways created through the water giving a since of bridges leading from the main city to neighboring cities which are different biomes. I’ve attempted to recreate this in Teragon with no success. So now I am trying to edit the original map/world which was created with KingGen. I am unable to import the file into Teragon. What I would like to do is import the file and add CP 48 and ZZTong POIs. There is no way to do this in 7D2D because you cannot specific the biome you wish to use and build from the RWG. Any advice and assistance would be appreciated.

      That's quite a specific thing you're trying to do there and not something I can explain in detail in a reply here.
      -If you have the heightmap you can Import it into Teragon.
      -You can get the poi property list for CP and for zztong's lists from their respective discords.
      -You can get the settings needed for Teragon (add source, import poi lists etc) using the CP preset for Teragon as an example. -Then there's the bridges...... I suspect they were placed by hand in world editor.
      Yeah it's all pretty complicated.

      @@TallmanBradGameplay I don't see the heightmap in this package. there are .png, .ttw, .raw and .xlm files. I've tried importing all of them (Nothing works ). Ok, then I'll switch gears: how do I create two land masses separated by a body of water and a thin drivable pathway/bridge connecting the two?

      @@sdk168 the height apnis the raw file. Use MapToolz to extract it.
      You can draw your own heighmap by extracting a vanilla rwg heightmap (MapToolz), draw a river using gimp or Photoshop then import I backnintonth bgame with MapToolz. Repaint biomes using photo editor. All the tutorials for that are on my channel in the MapToolz aeries.

    I let it generate for 20 hours and it never finished. 16x16 and the preset you used. It doesn't seem to get anywhere.

      Yes unfortunately 16k is just pushing things too far at the moment. Then compopack on top of that and you're looking for trouble haha. I guess 6 or 8k worked ok though?

    Thank you for the tutorials.
    Could you make a tutorial that increases wilderness POIs. I have 5 region POI settings with different values in the Que and I still cannot seem to figure out how to get the proper amount I am looking for. Its seems backwards each time I add a new setting.

      I would love to do a tutorial on this but after many hours testing different settings and sharing them with others I can't find a reliable setting that will work for everyone. The shape/height of your map plays a huge part in how it places wilderness. Settings that work for 1 map might not work for another.
      However, instead of 15, 8 (whatever default is) for deviation and altitude try values of 8, 1. Or 30,1. Lowering the second value has given me very good results in occasion. I have three instances of 'create region pois' in my current preset. Each with different versions of those numbers (16,8 30,1 8,1) but also using [random] as the seed value.
      If you're using CP you are very unlikely to get many wilderness pois due to the settings in the poi property file. This will most likely all change with an update soon. I hope something here helps you a little. Lots to experiment with in this software.

      @@bobrpggamer5899 you can also duplicate the create region pois command so it runs it a secon or third time, potentially adding more pois. Use slightly different values in the repeated versions or [random] for the seed.

      @@TallmanBradGameplay I do this already, I have had 6 at one time. But still not as many POI as I have seen on others maps.
      You are right though, that the setting change dramatically over different terrain heightmaps.
      I am in the middle of a game in A20.6 at day 105 and I will be in that for quite a while and I may not play A21 until a a few stable releases later, by this time teragon should have lots of updates to make things easier for map makers.

      Sorry I just noticed I was repeating myself and you had already said you were doing that anyway. I've had the same conversation a few times now and must have gone into autopilot.
      Next thing to try is to edit the poi property list. Of course make a copy to edit. Have a look at the list and compare the entries for the different pois. Notice some POIs have a longer entry as it includes all the biomes ? You can try following those settings for other pois. Also ones that end in 'default' have more chance of spawning than those that specify a special region like 'mountains'. Hard to explain here in text.

      I'm sorry you're having problems. It's unfortunate this system is so complicated and it should be simplified in an update soon.
      It sounds like it's not finding the list. Can you check the path to the list in the import command against where it is installed?

I checked the pathing and moved my old mod folder to the new spot and just updated the XML files on my server hosting computer and everything works fine now. Using custom height maps seems a little finicky, but that is a problem for another day XD

      @@ryanstafford1875 Double check the paths being used in the expert settings and make sure they all lead to the correct folders. I have 7dtd installed on my SSD, but teragon is saved on my HDD so I had to change the path of a few folders in order for it to find the POIs okay. Keep testing on basic 4k maps and when you get it to work make sure you save the preset.

    Could you maybe make a Tutorial on how to remove POI`s from the Generator (like Old Town and Zombieland), i am a purist and i dont like seeing Houses who look like Dogs and Robots in my World.

      I've not heard of that one. If you're using a custom poi list you could check it contains traders.
      Or if you've mage a map with no forest biome, you might get an error.

      Mods aren't fully supported yet so there will be some unusual results while settings are adjusted.

    Oh, I got a response on the forums about Custom Property Lists for Teragon and Compo Pback - StallionsDen was kind enough to respond and let me know how to make a POI property list of just the POIs you want from Compo 48.6:
    "I have plans to add that feature to infinity certainly [wrt exporting custom property lists from chosen POIs in Infinity]. 48.5 isn't teragon compatible nor is infinity updated to 48.6 atm either. You can go thru the list and remove what you don't want for the time being still using the pics and info from infinity"
    Doing this will be tedious since you have to crosscheck with your Infinity POI list and comment out the POIs one by one, but I know some players' hardware can't handle Compo in its entirety, and this may help them with only generating POIs that they've already previously had in Compo 48.5 thanks to Infinity. I'm not sure this will help anyone but me at the moment but if it does, it does!

    I'm sure u saw my rage on discord but seriously every time I try creating a new map as soon as the preview shows itself teragon just crashes and shuts off before I can continue with the roads I hope pille figures out what's happening I already restarted my computer twice and still having trouble

    i really like Teragon. But what is strange to me: i created several maps for fun but none of them had either Trader Hugh or Trader Bob on it. Without Bob i could live but Hugh? Is this a bug or am i having just bad luck?

      @@TallmanBradGameplay well i check the created maps for some POI i would like to visit every time (like Shotgun Messiah Factory) and it just so happened that i checked on the traders. Never saw Bob or Hugh on any map... and i made like 10 smaller ones and at the moment my PC is working on a 16k map... wich is running for allready 2,5h XD

    Thanks for making these videos, they have been great! But, Im curious why we have to go to discord in order to get the files? Couldnt you just post a link to moddb, the link in discord takes you to that anyways. For me, I dont want to join a discord channel to get a link, thankfully I just got the file over at moddb where its being hosted anyways.

      @@Glassboxgames unfortunately direct links can break when the software is updated. The discord page always shares the latest working links. If I post direct links, which I do, within a couple of weeks I'm replying to people telling me they don't work anymore. In general Discord is the perfect place for gamers to share, text and voice chat. Not sure what your troubles are with it. I appreciate some channels require you to verify you are a real person and not a bot. This can be tedious but helps prevent spam in an add-free environmental. Just wait until Microsoft or Facebook buys it. Then it'll be wrecked!

      You're welcome Matthias. The wilderness pois are a little bugged at the moment. Slight adjustments to map heights can help. In the three stages of terrain generation there are height options. Try raising or lowering the first one just a little, then try again with the second one. This will be sorted in an update eventually.

      @@NTJedi the current version should be working with 21. I haven't had a chance to test that version yet. Same download link. Let me know how you get on if you try it out.

    Hello. I watched all of your five video but.. It's too complex... Too long to make the setting !! I'd rather create it with the THE in game. Then, thank you for your explaination and maybe next time, in a next update.
