@Rick James I don't think there was any time in history where you had to be literate or even "book smart" to excel in the entertainment field. It could help, yes, but you more so had to entertain and have talent. The only thing you needed to know was how to make yourself valuable enough for people to respect and pay you. There are multiple ways to success. Don't believe the hype they teach you in school, a proper education and job training aren't the only ways to succeed.
