Previously, when I was using Windows 8.1, I had the ability to update my "worlwide" file for the year 2020 instead of using the one provided by Reality XP from 2016. It worked without any issues. However, after installing Windows 10, I encountered difficulties. The file refuses to install, and I tried following several tutorials on TH-cam to update my file and install it in the "db" folder, but to no avail. Has the producer of Reality XP blocked access to updating my "worlwide" file for the year 2020 instead of the one from 2016? Thank you from Algeria !!
Hey Alpha Mike! Not sure about that one, but it is very possible reality-xp made updates and changes since Windows 8.1 -- you may want to check with their support forums, it's here: www.avsim.com/forums/forum/767-the-realityxp-support-forum/
So, I wasn't wrong after all. It's just that the software designer neglected to mention it, which led me to waste my time dealing with the administrator issue on Windows 10. I spent a considerable amount of time watching TH-cam tutorials, only to discover that the problem was something entirely different. Here is what the designer wrote on the forum to apologize. Hi, I'm sorry for the delay. Just run the installer and uncheck the option to install the 2015 or 2016 database... this way your own database will be used. This is explained in the latest update release notes...!
Yea I don’t think it’s ever been updated since using…. It works great as an add on gps unit, not great for latest and greatest waypoints. First time I noticed that was when flying into the Oshkosh event and noticed their corridor waypoints were not in the database. Bad time to figure that out…. But it worked out.
Hey, thanks for the review and for the awesome simulator setup you have! I just purchased the latest and greatest version of the Reality XP for 530 and 430 but seem to be having trouble making it show up on the x plane 12 default C172. The original 530 is there, but the Reality XP version only shows up as a separate window. I also have a FlightSimBuilder physical Garmin 530 panel which works great with the "default" G 530 in the C172, but I can't seem to get the Reality XP version to be the one that's in the plane. Does the manual that comes with the Reality XP have a section that helps with that, or can you point me in a clearer direction? Thanks in advance!
Hey! Thanks, glad you loved the review... I'm not sure if it was setup for XP12 or not, I'm still running XP11. I think one of their recent updates did set it up for XP12, though. That said, yea, the manual doc that comes with RealityXP is a lifesaver and will give you a lot of info, definitely read through that, it might help. I haven't used it in awhile, but I believe once it's installed, it will have a plugin with settings you can set, and you will need to set the 530 as your primary navigation (in the plugin settings), and it should show up on screen, then you can pop it out and move it to your FSB physical 530 screen. If still having issues, I believe RealityXP has a forum, that'll be your best bet for support from their die hard users. Hope you enjoy and thank you for supporting our channel!
Thanks again!@@flightsimguides . Yes, I think it might be a XP12 issue with the RealityXP software as it doesn't "replace" the stock GNS530 automatically, though it does show up on the screen like a pop out. I tried quite a few things from the suggestions on the forum you mentioned but haven't hit the magic bullet yet! I think it has something to do with the way it draws it to the screen, but not sure. No current way to contact them (RealityXP) at least on their website, so don't know if there's an update or a solution that will help. But, one can hope!
I was thinking of trying the Reality-XP software, but, like others, got hesitant when I was getting Trojan Horse Virus warnings. Anyway, I currently have the GNS 530 panel from FlightSimBuilder and it works great, especially with the upgraded software in MSFS 2020. I've been pretty much using X-Plane now for my real-world IFR training, and it's pretty sad when the base 530 software is so back-level. I am curious if the Reality-XP will function the same way with my panel from FlightSimBuilder or does it work even if you don't have another panel and just using the display in the simulator.
Hey Marty, I've found reality xp will work in any aircraft you put it in, even if the base model you are flying does not have it. Which is cool. Something I realized yesterday while flying in preparation for some demos or possible livestreams is that I can't update the database for Reality XP. I use Navigraph which works with the default x-plane aircraft, but reality xp database works independently and I noticed some freqs were off. Not a huge deal unless you are flying virtual atc or preparing for a real life flight, but still, I want to see that updated. Overall, I really like the more real to life feel of the Reality XP upgrade, the habits you form will transfer over to the real life aircraft MUCH better. Not as pretty, but whatevs.
@@flightsimguides Thanks for the advice. I did go ahead and purchase it; had a little issue with having to create an account first (something that was not really all that apparent in the purchase process). Anyway, got it all installed, trial and error I finally got it over to my FlightSimBuilder panel. Looked great, but only the radio knobs worked; all the other controls interacted with the built in 530 and had no effect on the RealityXP screen. After digging around I found the 'Advanced Options' under the plugin settings screen with an option named something like 'Use Flight Simulator Controls'. Clicked that and now everything works. Only issue I have now is the old GNS still shows in the cockpit, so I'll just need to figure out a way to overlay it with the RealityXP version while still retaining the FlightSimBuilder control display.
@@martygenska8117 Yea, look through the manual that the RXP software comes with, there's an example tutorial on the last page that shows how to add it to your 3d panel. It's a challenge, but doable, lol... Also, make sure to run the RSG Installer if you didn't already. That manual will save you a lot of heartache.
I fly the actual 430 and 530 all the time. The Xplane 530 and 430 leave out a few features but for the most part they are there, and work perfectly for flying approaches, which is the main reason for me using a simulator. You do not need traffic and ground proximity warnings. One of the main missing features on the Reality instrument is nearest airports. That is vital on a single pilot missed approach as you only have to punch "direct to" on the nearby airport of choice and call up procedures. I have many years of experience training Instrument pilots. I was very disappointed with this POC.
hey, thanks for the insight for sure! Yea, the more I use RXP, the more I'm like, ... meh.... I thought it'd be great for the ability to import flight plans from SkyVector, but it doesn't recognize half of the points you use in SV cause the RXP database is never updated. I have found it useful and neat when flying PilotEdge and the traffic page actually works to see other traffic. I've found myself using the native 530 software from Laminar Research and then using the 430 RXP for the traffic and terrain. It's a good mashup.
I am researching if i should add this RXP plugin to my sim, XP12. I have the GTN650/750 and they work great but none of the aircraft from Laminar have the newer GPS’s. My question is if this plugin with change the functionality of what comes in the Laminar BE58. I am about to take a job flying a BE58P with 2 430’s and want something realistic to practise with. Thanks
