At 85 mph ( in Montana 80 mph speed limit), i had a rear tire go down. By the time i felt it and pulled over, my tire got so hot it damaged the inner liner of the tire. The HD shop showed me how the heat bubbled the liner when they removed the tire. I bought one of these to monitor my tire pressures while riding. If i had this i could have pulled over noticing tire psi dropped a few pounds, thus making the tire plugable to get to the Harley dealer. I was 100 miles to the nearest town.
Tire pressure monitoring system, not tire pressure check system. Use this device for what it is meant for, monitor your tire pressures while riding. It can save your life!
I add 90 degree valve stems at the first tire change, and then I use one of those long RV tire gauges to reach under the saddlebag on my 2018 Road Glide Ultra, and read the pressure without removing the saddlebag. Before changing out the valve stems, I use a 90 degree adapter, and the same RV tire gauge. I would like to have a TPMS so I'm not surprised by a flat tire while riding. I have had 2, and both were scary experiences.
This is a great product. Unlike this guy, I bought it to monitor my tire pressures while riding. I was riding in Montana at 85 mph when my rear tire started going flat. By the time I felt it and pulled over, my tire got so hot it melted in inner lining of the tire. So the tire was not plugable to get me to the next town 100 miles away. Monitor your tire pressures when riding.
2020 and later touring model HD can have factory TPMS installed and graphic display activated on BOOM GTS system and tachometer display. And that includes the super convenient 90 degree valve stems !
I didn't hear if you had metal valve stems, but if not you risk valve stem breakage due to the extra weight of the TPS screwed onto the cap, the instructions probably mentioned that you should replace your valve stems with metal ones to prevent this. How do I know, it happened to me and a ruined a brand new tire on the rear of my bike. Just an FYI.

Still curious as to the purpose of the extra nut. If it’s under the sensor, how does it lock it on?

How did a split valve stem ruin a brand new tire? You realize they are two independent items right?
Are you running the SYKIK SRTP300 with rubber valve stems? If yes, any issues?
