    • @titandragon753
      @titandragon753 6 ปีที่แล้ว +71

      Yes, I know that.Sharks do mistake humans for prey, and they have also remained practically unchanged for millions of years-because they are a perfect oceanic predator. That's why I both respect & admire them, I appreciate them for exactly what they are. I donate to both research and protection of sharks and other oceanic species, including Orca's. I have nothing against them. I think they are amazing creatures. However, if I had to choose between being out in the ocean surrounded by a pod of Orca's or surrounded by sharks. I'd feel safer with the Orca's. However wild animals are wild-and well no one can ever really predict the outcome.

    • @worksmagic89
      @worksmagic89 6 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Titan Dragon I can see what you mean by being safer just knowing the fact of a shark being a well known predator and the fact that it gets more attention due to shark bites versus an orca we barely hear about them specially biting a person so tbh I think I would probably feel more comfortable around a orca then a shark

    • @corbeau-_-
      @corbeau-_- 6 ปีที่แล้ว +37

      the point is that orcas and sharks both don't really hunt humans, only when in error. Orcas are more intelligent and make less mistakes. Sharks act on instinct; more humans get bitten by them than by orcas.
      And on the other hand the orcas that killed/hurt people in captivity; that was in most cases very intentional behaviour, aimed at a specific person. Them orcas have a good memory as well.

    • @MrAstrothousand98
      @MrAstrothousand98 6 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      cor boet Yea but an orca is smarter. It pokes prey to see what it is and usually if a human it will swim another way.
      A shark just hunts and to test "the waters" (pun intended) it will bite anything to know if it's prey. Usually for people that means lots of blood and a snack for the shark...... whether provoked or not sharks will attack

    Size matters. Orcas can be 3-6x more massive than great white sharks, it's like comparing a lion to an african wild dog.
    Apex predator is always the biggest predator.
    Orcas do hunt calf sperm whales, which are carnivorous, but they usually fail against calfs, and they avoid bull sperm whales which are loners that clock in at up to 60 tons. A bull sperm whale can shred a orca pod, they are highly aggressive, this even though they are specialized at hunting cephalopods [weak jaw].

      @@theefamilychannel6227 Lol; there are dozens more shark attacks on humans than you will ever find any killer whale in the wild attacking humans. They seemed to be the most 'civilized' (for want of a better word), out of all the other animals out there short of humans. Probably have words for us in their own language, and a large understanding of who and what we represent, of this I feel largely certain. To what extent - we may not really know for a very long time. But what we do know? They don't like to attack humans. Way less so than sharks.
      The only killer whale attacks that really ever rose to prominence in decades were - you guessed it - in captivity. It bothers me to some extent, but a lot less than Greenpeace and co (those nuts). I think we should have more normal interactions with them; but small confined spaces, more or less forced long-term captivity, etc?
      Sharks are one thing; I don't have any huge hate or love for; they are just another carnivore. Orcas to me? They deserve to be respected; just in turn, as I feel they probably think we deserve some respect [however misplaced you may think that is].

  • @MJLeger-yj1ww

    Orcas hunt in packs like wild dogs (and even domestic ones who may get into a pack) can do Orcas will swim above a potential prey such as a whale pup, which keeps it from surfacing to breathe, and it drowns, which is the primary reason they are called killer whales. They will also join to attack a shark or other prey. But they usually eat squids, octopus, seals, sea lions, sea otters, rays, dolphins, sharks, baleen whales and of course, bony fishes. Occasionally, turtles and seabirds, including penguins are added to their diet. It would be highly unusual for an Orca to attack a human UNLESS they are in a tank, confined against their will, unhappy and perhaps annoyed to the point of attack. It is very cruel to confine an Orca to a tank. Sure, they have pretty big brains and can learn tricks, but they are NOT happy in a tank.

      @Anthony Gates Remove all orcas in the ocean noone would bat an eye
      Now remove all sharks in the ocean and the ocean would be just a big blue boring lake. Sharks are still the ones that give the us sense that the ocean is off limit to humans not orcas. Btw there are many apex predators not just one, mind you orcas don't prey on sharks preying means to feed and they don't even eat shark. Lastly sharks occasionally put us on the menu so they don't care in which habitat you're from.

    This is dramatic reaction footage for the program. Inside he couldn't be happier. Orca's have never attacked humans (outside of captivity) in recorded history, other than some reports in the 1800's when they supposedly attacked a small boat that was harpooning them. These divers will be extremely happy that something is chasing the Great White Sharks out of the bay as those are areal threat.

    Thud says: " there is a real danger involved when the shark is there, but there's great safety when the orcas show up seeing they are friendly to people."
    Tell that to SeaWorld trainer Dawn Brancheau. She was pulled by Shamu, the orca's Tilikum's stage name, to the bottom of the pool and drowned by the orca, Tilikum. Tilikum scalped and dismembered Brancheau as well as breaking bones throughout her body before drowning her.
