Lucas Oliver and BECAUSE it floats, and it's not on the ground, it won't be dampened by something restricting it's vibration. If you knew how a speaker worked, you would know what i'm talking about. Next time you see a speaker that doesn't have a type of suspension system (in this case the magnets) and restrict it's vibrations and listen to the dampened sound.

It does make a difference. If the speaker is on the ground, it can't produce as full of sound because it will vibrate into the ground preventing a full discharge of vibrational force. It would also prevent other things from making vibrations, such as a closing door, from effecting it.

If they made one where the base used electro magnets so the speaker could be dropped for charging when not in use on it's own then I'd by it.

The problem is that the levitation absorbs energy from the woofer, so you're gonna get very muddy and weak bass, and probably the same in mids.... highs might be ok. Could maybe work if the base handled all of the bass, and the levitating woofer was a super light and responsive material for mids and highs.
