Hope we can see a lot of the older games get treatment like this. Widescreen versions of Sonic 1, 2, CD, and 3&K spoiled me.

Un excellent remake appreciable le fait en plus de pouvoir jouer avec les autres personnages comme tails ou knuckles , la presence des niveaux inedits marble, spring yard et star light presents sur megadrive le defaut qui se trouvait dans le jeu original qui obligait de se limiter a 99 anneaux par niveau ( au dela ca repartait a 0 , alors on pouvait louper le niveau bonus ! ) a ete corrige!
Man i had so much fun playing the 1.0.G version the Drop Dash has got to be my favorite thing that they added it's so fun to use just like Mania.

And I do remember playing Sonic on SMS in the 90's, but it was very little. I can't believe I've not played more of it till now!

However, you did this, kudos to you; Sonic the Hedgehog was the game "I most think of as nostalgic". As a kid way back, i wanted the Game gear so bad each day I went to school, just to play Sonic to and from school. I already had a master system, but sonic had to stay home. "I thought of the possibilities of the game gear and how it set up playground war 1 and turned me away from Nintendos "Game Boy" thanks to the promise of a colour backlit LCD, that white lied rumours like the game gear actually being 16 Bit because you could watch TV on it"? And here we are, but who said old games cant get bug fixes decades after their release?" Wow, Kids have it so sweet nowadays. but as cringe at times I sound; some of us who find sonic SMS or GG nostalgic do because these games capture the era and fond memories we now treasure. And I'm glad to see sonic going forward for generations more to come and make new memories.

Looks amazing, I've always wanted to see Marble since learning the soundtrack is still in the ROM along with Batbrain. Are the other assets all from scratch or were any of them hidden in the original game too?

@@SonicStation I finished it just before, on to Sonic 2 remake now. Honestly I grew up on S1 on the Master System (first console and game) getting through this has been pure joy, I have always thought S1 SMS is superior to S1 MD anyway IMO but this remake may have just made that gap even wider! It's genuinely something I don't say lightly and don't think I've said about anything else but I actually think this could be better than the original. What isn't to like?

@@SonicStation I played both of them and had a blast. Wish there was a Sonic 1-3 Genesis Remake for the PS4, too.
I tried playing the official emulated version, but that felt too slow. It needs to be sped up like 1.25x to feel Sonic-fast for me.

How do I set it to remake mode? Mine is stuck on Original mode and selecting it with CTRL or Space does nothing. EDIT: never mind. I downloaded the latest update and that one works fine.

I’m just seeing this now. Was Marble Zone originally going to be included in the SMS version but scrapped, or was this something added for the remake?
Iirc the marble zone music was left hidden deep within the game files in the original release, which hints that it might have been planned at one point but the whole zone was scrapped

Nice game and nice playthrough, although for the real authentic experience I had to watch the whole thing at 0.85. 60Hz just doesn't do it for me.

Same. I'm used to the PAL speed version.
I'm not a fan of the changes to the original levels. Especially regarding Chaos emeralds and the Boss levels. there was a extra life hidden in each boss level in the original, but that's out the window in this one. Emeralds were hidden and you had to find them in order to get true ending. Some of the other changes were just making shit easier. like an arrow pointing down to the moving platform in the second to last level. You normally had to discover that by holding d. Also you really didn't need super sonic in this game. The two new levels were neat tho. Seemed more challenging than the original levels.

What a shame; I was really enjoying this remake right up until Scrap Brain Act 3, which has the most garbage trap I've ever seen in a video game. Basically, it's a one-way door that leads to a checkpoint. At a glance, you'd think there was more level beyond said checkpoint. Nope! Just an electricity ball and a dead end! And the "best" part? If you were foolish enough to hit that checkpoint, congratulations! Now you're permanently stuck! _Have fun having to deliberately get a Game Over in order to get out!_ Needless to say, this hot garbage got yeeted straight the $%@& off my PC right then and there.
The way it's designed, I can't really tell whether or not it was intentional. If it wasn't, then it just goes to show that you _really_ need to playtest these things _thoroughly_ before you release them into the wild, because to call this a "game-breaking bug" would be a _massive_ understatement. If, on the other hand, it _was_ intentional... well, %#&@ you and the horse you rode in on. Troll traps that just make you lose a life are one thing. Troll traps that _force you to deliberately Game Over,_ on the other hand, are a whole new level of despicable, and anyone who willingly puts that kind of bull$#!+ in their games deserves to be tied up to a pole and shot with baseballs until they drop dead.
Thank you for your comment. This is a remake of the original version which has this trap so...it is intended to have the same set pieces as the original...
The original trap is even worse, it was actually toned down...now you know...
Also you can exit at any time and re-enter to retry the zone

I'm baffled this game is 30fps... quite unplayable. Why remake something only to make it worse?
The game is not quite unplayable. It does its job well enough, but for your information it is going to be improved soon. Either way you always have the opportunity of making it better if you want so :)
@@SonicStation It's unplayable to me, who has experienced the originals, I'm just surprised that no one in the development team ever seemed to have noticed. You claim it's going to be improved but I don't see any indication of them being aware of the framerate discrepancy. Makes you wonder if they ever played the original games.
