Be very careful with flying that 421. According to recent incident reports, 2024, they're a handful to fly, especially if you've not flown one for a while. Staying current is vital. And watch the autopilot; it can send you into an unsurvivable flat spin with very little warning - less than a second, in the worst cases - if you're in icing conditions,
Thank you so much for delivering all that food supplies and helping the people that’s where my niece is she going to school Boone decide to move up there. She moved right into Tennessee just a little bit. I don’t have to tell you about the situation. Just thank you thank you thank you, sir thank you for your service. Thank you for your TH-cam show us.
Jimmy, being a 50-year CFI and long time 421 pilot, I was glad to hear you will be getting “some training” in the Golden Eagle. It is needed. I highly recommend that you pay the big bucks to Flight Safety for their 421 Initial Training course. It could quite literally save you life. They will teach you operating methods that prevent very expensive repairs that are far more than the cost of their course.
I was shocked the first time I saw a 421, they are huge. I had only been in a baron 58 and a king air 350 (not a pilot). I can imagine you’d need some good training going to a plane of that size
Jimmy, I highly recommend that you follow the advice of many of your fans and followers here. Get the FSI training before you fly the 421 on your own. Just like you’re relying on that particular shop to repair and service the 421 to the highest standards, get the very best training you can find. That airplane is a lot for any pilot to manage and operate properly. Even with your experience and maturity, the slightest mistake or mishandling could “eat your lunch.” Don’t put yourself and your family at risk by cheaping out on training. Also, having a well-trained and experienced professional pilot aboard to fly with you, at least initially, would be an excellent idea. Many celebrities who also fly their own planes do this as a precaution. It just makes sense.
Jimmy , let me start saying something, I used to be a commercial pilot in Dominican Republic 🇩🇴 in the 80s , I flew from Cessnas 150, 172, 172RG, etc, I started flying while living in Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 while in High School in a Grumman AA-2, later in life Cessna 340 and 414 , from there I jumped to Curtiss C-46 as a co-pilot , you and the rest of the people like you were my inspiration to come to this country I had been living here for the last 40 years , not regrets , joint the ARMY and became a CH-47D Chinook Mechanic , due to unforeseen problems in my life I haven’t flown, but occasionally, still today at 63 years old I have the aviation bug in my blood 🩸, and keep on watching constantly aviation videos . Hobby aviation in the USA 🇺🇸 has become really expensive , is like having a Rolex when actually you can tell the same time with a Walmart $10 dollars watch . But still today I have high hopes since the aviation community more than any other’s communities in any other field is a brotherhood. My dad used to own a 320 but it had landing gear issues. He ended up landing it without a locked front wheel and totald it. It was a sad day. He replaced it with a Piper Sennica ii. That was a very nice plane. We loved it to bits.
First time I've seen you get emotional over the loss of your baby. I'm so sorry it didn't work out, but it has a good future for aviation. This 421 is a big step up, that's a lot of plane.
Jimmy, I hope you can find a mentor pilot for this airplane, those were the best years of my life, when I was flying 421s in the early 90s all the way through 2006, I was a pilot/mechanic/chauffeur/ gopher, I really enjoyed being a paid pilot and mechanic, and used these aircraft as they were intended for corporate travel, it gave me the opportunity to do quite a few personal maintenance flights as part of the bargain, Tony and crew installed the spar strap kit in 421 whiskey Charley, when it became available, I had completed four annuals in that airplane while operating it, and never had to cancel a flight due to maintenance. And never did I ever have to worry about descending into Pueblo with severe mountain waves beating the crap out of the plane.

This 421 is ripe for a full glass panel upgrade. No need to fiddle with complicated 1980s autopilot/avionics. Dump the gauges and go glass! As far as the 310 is concerned. We enjoyed and appreciate Jimmy taking us through the journey of resurrecting such a beautiful airplane. But sometimes we just have to let things die. It would be irresponsible for Jimmy to try to fix this plane, especially to the many fans who donated. It's not worth it and I think he knows it. Remember, it's not always about the destination; it's about the journey. Thank you for the memories 310. RIP.
@dbeasleyphx , fatigue on aircraft wings leading edges. What I never seen much on is polished aircraft. Flight crew on a polished Convair experience. Polishing metal gradually will cause weakening of metal thickness. This also might explain the cracks on the wings leading edges from Polishing.
I think dropping the 310 to wings of compassion altho a loss to you of such a beauty of a plane, after all is said and done you have it your all & the 310 has bitten you for it, 50yrs of not being to current standards is not your fault Jimmy and for those that have been here for any real length of time we knew the 310 was just a stepping stone to bigger & better
I've been waiting MONTHS for a status update on the Silver Bullet and 421. Thank you for that! Glad the Silver Bullet is being saved - as a long term project that will be overseen by the best/most knowledgeable Twin Cessna shop in the country. You might be heartbroken Jimmy, but at least it will live on. Yes, it will take a while, and that is beyond what a 'normal' airplane owner would tolerate (ie not having his money tied up in a non-flyable airplane for an extended amount of time.) It all comes down to that old adage: " Good - Fast - Cheap -- you can only have two out of three. " Being an airplane that you have to trust the life of yourself and family to, "Good" is a requirement - not an option, and that leaves fast or cheap. "Fast" would entail a 'drop-everything-else' group of professional aviation mechanics working on it full-time. It will be interested to see what the misfire issue turns out to be with the 421. Didn't you have an issue with a Surefly/EIS mag on Cameron?
Jimmer, I am pretty sure that newish one had one mother of a tail strike. Looks like the tail structure is bent too. That's a nasty expensive repair with all that bespoke carbon fibre. Right up your alley 😂
Jimmy, great to see you moving up to the 421. I hope you make lots of videos on this new airplane. Very soon you will need to move on again to a jet. Good luck with your new plane.
Jimmy, I flew and instructed in a 310J and it was a joy. Ever since watching “Sky King” it had always been my dream to fly one. I wasn’t disappointed. Glad the “Silver Bullet” is getting another life😉
Jimmy, i am so glad to see that the Silver Bullet will fly again!! With the cost of new GA aircraft, absolutely insane, keeping these vintage aircraft flying and available to us is the only way many of us can afford to fly. Thanks for all you do and for keeping us entertained along the way.
I used to fly at 421 a lot back in the day. very nostalgic, looking at the panel and looking at the plane as you were going in and out. I wish I was still flying. Dying to see the next video. Stay safe.
Hi Yan, Congratulations! You need more than a medal for bringing us on your trip to Lhasa…..I own a Suzuki 650 VStrom in Australia which is a great venture bike. I’m amazed that you managed your trip on the Suzuki scooter….you’re a legend! 😂 I thought you may have shipped it back by train but understand why you want to fly home too! I want to bike ride to Lhasa from perhaps Wuhan with my friend next year. You have inspired me with your determination and revealation of the landscape. My Mandarin is poor but that won’t stop me! Congratulations again and thank you! 😊 Kind regards John
Jimmy, You are a lucky guy. I own a P-210....which I love, but always dreamed of having a 400 series Twin Cessna. Good luck as we follow you through the training and future trips.
JIMMY, thanks for taking us along on your next adventure! I really appreciate your mic setup. I've been there before when departing with a passion project, but it really about the memories and the people (that is what going to last forever.)
Congrats Jimmy ! I did the recon on one of your 421 candidates in Cali!! I think you got a great one! TAS looks like a great resource! “They will never make another one” Best line/moment C421’s - amazing product #saveavgas Thank you for showcasing truly great aviation experiences
Pretty cool share there's a lot of love in aviation you can just tell by the way you and Tony were talking and other people like Juan Mark Mike Cletus and so many others thanks for the share Jimmy❤❤❤😊😊😊
Your son has a good eye for camera work. He fallows objects well and knows when to hold and move, pan and anticipate (his subjects motion). Well done. It's always good to have a fallback trade.
The 421C looks nice! Definitely, get some FTD/AFTD training at one of the major training centers. The CE-421C with winglets is straight-leg gear, only; trailing link has straight wing. A VG kit and spoilers assists many pilots with slow flight regimes and ATC requested rapid descents. Be very careful not to get dirt, grime or moisture in the breaker panel and switches. During training, it can be eye-opening to have a simulated engine failure at 200 feet agl on takeoff while just entering the clouds! Great training scenario, though. If the VG kit installed, don't use the extra weight allowed for more passengers, use it for controllability in the event of engine failure. Keep ahead of the maintenance and you will have a very good time with the airplane. Glad to see you are part of the twin Cessna organization.
Nice plane Jimmy. I miss flying. We had a Cardinal when I was younger. Me and my father would fly quite a bit in the 70s and 80s. Congrats and keep pushing forward.
It seems like the 310 knew it's fate and that's why it was such a struggle to get it out of Florida with the failing landing gear motor. It knew when it got to Ohio they would find it had a terminal condition and would never fly again. That it would become a donor for other planes or just get tucked away to rot, again. I know it's just a soulless machine but sometimes we give Planes, Boats and Cars a Personality and a Heartbeat while we have them in our care. *Thanks for the Memories* 310 Silver Bullet
That 421 requires initial and re-current training to safely operate it and to meet insurance requirements. It is a good flyer, but is not for the inexperienced or non current pilot and it is to be operated by the book or that machine and it occupants may have a very bad day
Jimmy’s world I am so sorry about the 310. I have been following you for a long time. I was watching you when you found the 310 I know the whole story I apologize I’d bet something very positive will come from this airplane I know it’s breaking your heart right now. I’m sorry the last chapter has not been wrote on this airplane.
It's the spark plug mag twist on boot connection removable and replaceable cap. The copper core wire is needing to be clipped and rethreaded onto the copper core spark plug wire. It could also have A bad piston and oil rings issues. That is leaking oil past the piston and oil rings inside of that cylinder. Due to being worn down.,or what's called A worn out piston and oil rings. That's needing to be replaced with A piston in that cylinder that is acting up.
I hope Jimmy has a reliable income stream! I can’t imagine that fortune he made selling his business could survive anymore six figure drains. I really enjoy these videos though, aviation is such a fascinating world, and there are many of us with a passion for aviation and not enough money to get into it. I am going to get my ppl hopefully next week, I worked my ass off and scrimped and saved to make it happen. But airplane ownership will probably remain only a dream.
Jimmy the Cessna Bobcat was the first, saw you at the whelen tent this year. Keep up the good work, the 421 is a lovely machine and is comfortable to fly and ride in, it’s a big kitten that can bite.

@Jimmy, great to bump into you at Oshkosh! I'm glad that the 310 will be saved.
Beautiful 420 looking forward to you being PIC. In reading comments I interpret some jealousy from some, I’ve never understood why it bothers people when someone has, and continues, to be successful? Congratulations are appropriate for you purchasing and repairing properly!
Good to see the Silver Bullet has a future. Looks like you joined the ranks of many who flew the early 310s and discovered the excellent handling/flying characteristics of this airplane. Moving on, the 421 is much more complex. I noticed a 310P among the parked airplanes. I flew three in the same series with a lot of time in N5796M. Those days passed much too fast.
Was pleasantly surprised to run into you this morning, oddly enough at Tractor Supply in Clinton. Had to do a double-take. Again I enjoy your channel. Keep it airborne!!
Jimmy, here's how to use your new toilet! [ ] Reli Portable Toilet Bags 8 Gallon - 1 Mil Thick (line the toilet bucket with this bag) [ ] LaSyL Super Absorbent Powder (pour some of this into the bag before use; this will turn liquids into gel in a min, & help with odors too) [ ] Heavy Duty 2 Gallon Ziploc Bags (to place toilet bag into when you're done for stowing until you can dispose)
From watching the Start up on the Engines, and Obviously the video is Backwards to us the Viewers, We saw the Right hand Engine (Left) NOT Start up as Quickly as the Left hand Engine (Right) Engine, Jimmy if you check the Video you will see what we saw... Maybe that is where the Miss is coming from? She is a Beautiful Bird, I hope you release more Videos of her, Sorry to see you Mourning the loss of the 310, at least she Helped people get their twin engine Certificate Brother... Sending best wishes from Yorkshire, UK
310 to a 421, WOW!!! Hope you have some time on your hands, because you are going to need it for TRAINING.These are some of the most exhausting airplanes to fly and maintain. Had a friend that flew one for a car dealership out of Bethany OK. Wiley Post. That plane spent most of its time in maintenance. Not to be a buzz kill because it is definitely a ramp Queen but I hope you have someone local that is Truly knowledgeable on this aircraft. Cheers! I believe those other aircraft sitting behind the hanger are Cessna twins, maybe a 340 or 414.
Loved all the Elvis RV Videos Going to Oshkosh and there and the return ! The one video was great ! Going to Atlanta !some how I guess the rest got lost ?
Nice job with the long video. It was good to see what you have been happening overthere while getting the Elvis Jet on the road, etc. The 421c is a pretty airplane, not as pretty as Kay's (@flyWithKay) Seneca, but the missions of each aircraft are different, too. I think the 421 looks great! Man, I was feeling for you when you were going through create in the 310. The one that you started working on that this one ultimately this one replaced is how I found your channel, and loved seeing you getting both those crafts getting to where you did. It's nice to know the Silver Bullet isn't going to be forgotten, still be flown. A friend of mine was at Oshkosh and saw the Elvis jet. He seemed to enjoy telling me about it. Remember, if you're wings are moving faster than you fuselage, you are in a helicopter, and in inherently unsafe. Just a little fixed wing humor. I know you like the 'copter that you got. You're like me - I love being in the air. I don't really care the craft.
The bigger drop from the surefly being turned off is GOOD. It means the electronic mag is really doing it's job, the normal mag is lacking in comparison. Edit: you can watch the egt/cht to confirm that all cylinders are firing on both mags individually
Sad to see SB go, but that 421 is a whole different class of airplane. Fly it in good health! Silas has skills as a videographer. I love the way you patted the 310 and he rolled close-up onto your handprint on the cowl.
I love aeroplanes and I love photography. I've noticed in past videos how Silas frames each shot so well and will change it seamlessly when on the move. It's a great skill and makes the videos very enjoyable. With Jimmy being such a natural presenter it makes for a great team. The future looks good!
What a great looking plane Jimmy, congrats on this one👍 you should contact Jason sometime; I guess he’ll be greatly inspired to finish the 401 at rebuild rescue.
I cried when I saw the 3:10 WTF you put so much time working hours on that save the 3:10 hopefully she can get back up in the air and into a proper hangar at some point beautiful 410 as well I'm just heartbroken on what happened to the 3:10
Hey Jimmy if you have the time it would be a good video to walk us thru the steps of getting our pilot license from the beginning and what to expect, from Oklahoma, Enjoy your honesty and energy
A LOT of people just don't get that. They'll be commenting and complaining about not seeing anything being done to the plane, but what they don't get is you should not tear one down UNTIL you're in a place where you have the time and everything it's going to take to put it back together. You have to look at these types of things like a person having surgery done, you need/want everything to be in place to do the job and sew it right back up. Cutting someone open/taking things apart and leaving them open/apart until you find time to get back to them can cause more damage to things that will then need to be repaired or replaced.
I used to have a 1981 421C brown buzzard, I purchased that plane in 2007 and personally flew it myself for four years back-and-forth 3 to 4 times a week between college Station Texas and grand island Nebraska. My experience with it the first year you're a bad half scared to death flying the second year you're running around like a kid on a motorcycle spinning dirt and jumping jumps having a blast, the third year you've kind of settled down and kind of enjoying it and at the end of that third year you come to the realization that the next year you're gonna have to sell that thing🤣. You know the old saying, you can afford to buy it, but you just can't afford to own it😎 The hourly cost on that thing was absolutely horrendous, with it normally being just me flying 80% of the time I just purchased a Columbia 400 in 2011 and flew it until 2019. And then purchased a two year old Cessna 400ttx would I still fly today. And those planes were purchased just because I came out of that 421 golden Eagle, the savings on the cost of ownership from that 421 paid for that first plane and entirely in three years

I have flown the 402c for over 2000 hrs. It was one of my favorite planes to fly. Like a little sports car!
Jimmy, great to see you moving up to the 421. I hope you make lots of videos on this new airplane. Very soon you will need to move on again to a jet. Good luck with your new plane.
Don’t give up on your dream Jimmy you’ve done things that most people would never achieve keep going get the plane done will be watching
No, it will not fly again. No one in their right mind would spend the money it would take to make her safe to fly.
If I was given a 421c it would be difficult just to buy the fuel @ 350$ per hour. Apx. Single engine for me.
What is the matter with the 310.
@@jrod_pilot_miami They are fixing it, did you watch the video?
I think in another video they said the front landing gear needs all the structural components rebuilt and it’s labor intensive and very expensive.
I used to fly at 421 a lot back in the day. very nostalgic, looking at the panel and looking at the plane as you were going in and out. I wish I was still flying. Dying to see the next video. Stay safe.
Hi Yan,
Congratulations!
Kind regards
John
Jimmy, You are a lucky guy. I own a P-210....which I love, but always dreamed of having a 400 series Twin Cessna. Good luck as we follow you through the training and future trips.
JIMMY, thanks for taking us along on your next adventure! I really appreciate your mic setup. I've been there before when departing with a passion project, but it really about the memories and the people (that is what going to last forever.)
At least the 421 can hold your family for those long trips. I think one of those abandoned planes were flown by Barry Seals.
Great news. I am really happy the Silver Bullet will fly again someday.
Even though you’re sad about your 310 cause it’s a real beauty . But you’re acting like a kid with a new toy . The 410 looks like a winner .
Tony hit the nail on the head about projects, at least mine anyway! I did this very thing with my Mooney project and face that hurdle now!
Congrats Jimmy !
I did the recon on one of your 421 candidates in Cali!! I think you got a great one! TAS looks like a great resource!
“They will never make another one”
Best line/moment
C421’s - amazing product
#saveavgas
Thank you for showcasing truly great aviation experiences
Congratulations Jimmy, I am happy for you that you have a better aircraft now.
Thank God for you man.
Feel for you Jimmy and Silas... Have loved the journey. Love from New Zealand!
Glad to see the 310 will live on. That 421 looks like it will be a great family plane. Thanks for great content.
Hey Jim, it's hard saying goodbye, loved every minute of this video. Happy the Silver Bullet is in good hands. Here's to the future !!
Wow, Jimmy, that's one beautiful airplane. Looks like it flies like a dream. And fast too.
Glad to see the 310 will be saved
Your so focused and determined Onward 🌈 very proud of all of this it's amazing.
I’m so happy for you and selfishly glad we have the same year 421C because you make great content! Cheers!!! 🎉
I am glad to see the "save the 310" torch get passed to possibly the best person to really save it. Please check back in on it from time to time.
Well done, congratulations to you all, 😊❤ from us in New Zealand ,have been watching you from the original house build, thanks Wayne and Viv
Glad to see you are part of the twin Cessna organization.
the cost of operating and maintaining and insuring the Golden Buzzard is going to be a life changing experience for you👍
Nice plane Jimmy.
*Thanks for the Memories*
310
Silver Bullet
That 421 requires initial and re-current training to safely operate it and to meet insurance requirements. It is a good flyer, but is not for the inexperienced or non current pilot and it is to be operated by the book or that machine and it occupants may have a very bad day
Been following since before you had the Cherokee six. What a machine Jimmy! I look forward to some of your flying adventures!
GREAT video Jimmy. You are back to doing real aviation stuff. Can't wait for your training flight.
Glad to see you save her!
Hey Jimmy and @Jerry.Wagner I highly suggest you guys meet! Jimmy watch some of Jerry's videos! He's definitely a 421 guru 👌🏼
A genuine guy no doubts
Silas is becoming quite the accomplished cameraman. Keep it up buddy, and Jimmy, keep the blue side up.
Nice one sir you will get there and people will have faith in your quest
Jimmy’s world I am so sorry about the 310. I have been following you for a long time. I was watching you when you found the 310 I know the whole story I apologize I’d bet something very positive will come from this airplane I know it’s breaking your heart right now. I’m sorry the last chapter has not been wrote on this airplane.
Now your talking!! Save some planes that's what brought people to the channel.
Hey Jimmy, I feel for you man, And I can see it really hurts you to walk away. It was a cool plane for sure.
I'm going to miss this airplane for sure. Jimmy, if you can afford both, I would keep them both!!!
Jimmy, thanks for coming back from videos on the Elvis Costello tour bus! This is so much more entertaining! Thank you again!
Lot of work ahead of you. Jimmy. You can do it 👊😎
Jimmy Good luck with the 421c hope you can work out the bugs and get her flying again !!!!!!!!!!!!
Jimmy, here's how to use your new toilet!
[ ] Reli Portable Toilet Bags 8 Gallon - 1 Mil Thick (line the toilet bucket with this bag)
[ ] LaSyL Super Absorbent Powder (pour some of this into the bag before use; this will turn liquids into gel in a min, & help with odors too)
[ ] Heavy Duty 2 Gallon Ziploc Bags (to place toilet bag into when you're done for stowing until you can dispose)
And Jimmy's gone Golden Eagle!!! Jerry Wagner would be proud!!! Nice catch Jimmy!!!
"Apparently we're gonna do some training in it as well". LOL. Wiser words have never been spoken.
Jimmy needs to go Glass! Avionics ! Beautiful aircraft!! Good luck!
Hi Randy and crew! Love your vids , keep em coming, keep up your great work!👍Montreal Canada 🇨🇦
The autopilot is really simple and easy to use once you learn it. Makes a lot of sense.
Hey jimmy been watching your show for 3 yrs love your videos I’m in Alberta Canada
Thank you, Jimmy. I enjoyed that hour +
I just want a heads up next time you come to defiance because I live here and you’re my favorite
Loved all the Elvis RV Videos Going to Oshkosh and there and the return ! The one video was great ! Going to Atlanta !some how I guess the rest got lost ?
I’m so excited for you 😊living life vicariously through you 😂
Nice job with the long video.
Two beautiful planes!
The bigger drop from the surefly being turned off is GOOD. It means the electronic mag is really doing it's job, the normal mag is lacking in comparison.
Edit: you can watch the egt/cht to confirm that all cylinders are firing on both mags individually
Glad to see the silver bullet will have a new lease on life. Save the 310 MK III. But wow is that 421 is a.nice rig.
Yasssss! A vlog about flying! Woooohoooo🎉
What a great looking plane Jimmy, congrats on this one👍 you should contact Jason sometime; I guess he’ll be greatly inspired to finish the 401 at rebuild rescue.
Plug fouled?
Theyre a lovely plane. Sweet and easy to fly.
Thats neat Jimmy!
That commercial ticket and Jimmy Airlines
I cried when I saw the 3:10 WTF you put so much time working hours on that save the 3:10 hopefully she can get back up in the air and into a proper hangar at some point beautiful 410 as well I'm just heartbroken on what happened to the 3:10
I can't wait until this bird is totally restored!!!
Hey Jimmy if you have the time it would be a good video to walk us thru the steps of getting our pilot license from the beginning and what to expect, from Oklahoma, Enjoy your honesty and energy
At least the Silver Bullet 310 will eventually fly again and likely be better built that it was when new.
I guess I missed an episode. Why is the 310 being parked ?

You know the old saying, you can afford to buy it, but you just can't afford to own it😎
The hourly cost on that thing was absolutely horrendous, with it normally being just me flying 80% of the time I just purchased a Columbia 400 in 2011 and flew it until 2019. And then purchased a two year old Cessna 400ttx would I still fly today.
And those planes were purchased just because I came out of that 421 golden Eagle, the savings on the cost of ownership from that 421 paid for that first plane and entirely in three years
