This lady demonstrates how to use it well and says moving it up would reverse so it would help locking you stitch, but hers doesn't have a screw, mine has a screw that to move it you should unscrew then it would move freely.
If you still want me to make a vid reply to this and I will do it 12 hrs from now

@@seyikolade You can look up exactly what year the machine was made by looking the machine's number. Each machine has a unique number along with a model number (like cars). Most old Singers have a model number somewhere in front of the arm. Though judging by the fact that your machine has a round bobbin instead of the shuttle shaped bobbin It must be newer than the victorian erra.

You need to run the machine with the presser foot up when there’s no fabric, otherwise the feed dog’s teeth will ruin your sewing foot.
