There was an amendment in the ugc rules saying that PhD is now optional for assistant professor posts if they have it they get 30 marks. If they don’t have, they’ll get zero marks and yes, PhD has a lot of weightage in the API Score See even if the weightage for PhD is 30 marks, a candidate who has a graduate degree and a post graduation degree with more than 55% marks and a qualified the UGC net can become can apply for assist professor if somebody has these qualifications in addition to that, if they also have completed their PhD, which is the research degree in that case they will be given 30 marks additional as I said before PhD is optional.
@@dewdrops645 yes the current recruitment system and UGC is slightly inclined towards having a PHD, however, there are talks about UGC recruitment rules to be overhauled you can read the latest article which says that the non-PhD students will also be given weightage if they have substantial amount of experience, Research experience or start-up or incubation experience. Yes sirf phd ka allot hoga marks agar phd and mphil dono hai to phd ka maximum marks mil jaega aur sirf mphil hai to university to university depend krta hai agar vo mphil ka number dena chahe to. Par Abi tak as per rules mphil ka number milna chahiye agar only mphil hai without phd.

it doesn’t matter if your qualification was full-time or from distance or whether it is off-line or online what matters is whether your distance degrees are certified and recognised by the UGC and distance education bureau. API will be calculated as per the marks that you have scored in under graduation and as per the marks that you have scored in post graduation, weather from full-time regular mode or from distance mode.

Didi. I am from Assam. Will there be a change in calculating API score or this is the universal pattern followed. I searched the API in youtube for Assam and they are showing a different list whereby they are calculating from HSLC marks.

@ before NET not possible NET is very important criteria. Some private colleges might hire without NET but they will not provide good salary as per norms. So don’t skip UGC NET and don’t skip government pay scales !!

No, there is no problem at all in your case. Because as per the new UGC guideline that is going to come in the future, it doesn’t matter what you have done in your graduation. Even if your graduation subject and post graduation subjects are different, then also you will be eligible for becoming assistant professor, okay provided that you have qualified the UGC net exam in the subject that you want to become professor, or you have done PhD in the subject u want to teach in college. Since you have done Masters in education, I would highly recommend you to crack the UGC net exam in education, subject and apply for assistant professor in education in Indian universities. BED is usually for teaching in schools, but UGC net is for university and College level. Bed will not be beneficial for you for university recruitment, but yes, UGC in education subject will do wonders for you.

There are 3 pathways for you 1. Join a a reputed private college as faculty and pursue PhD simultaneously as govt provides PhD study leave for working professionals. You can also work as teaching assistant or research assistant/ academic associate with NET qualification. IIM’s hire academic associates ( check IIM careers section ) in law field and government agencies in law field in delhi specifically hire consultants-law so specifically search for consultant and young professional YP vacancies in India if you are below 32 years of age. 2. Crack JRF and start PHD with government or private fellowship amount with IIM’s and Tier 1 colleges and start your research journey. 3. Create a TH-cam channel for law aspirants to provide guidance for NET Law. Keep searching for AP vacancies state wise and start the process. In all the 3 scenarios you have the chance to become assistant professor because you have NET qualification and in no case, you should miss out on becoming an assistant professor because PhD is now optional but will always be valued in the future, but even if you do not have a PhD now. You cannot let go of your net qualification, because if you do not have a strong alternative job offer at hand, there is no point moving on + your masters score shows your strong interest in academics.

@ yes absolutely the marks in UG is not the sole criteria for shortlisting it is one of the criteria and if u pursue PhD u get 30 marks straight which u can compensate for your UG. There is no rule that u need to have 60% plus in UG. Also as per new ugc rumours that multidisciplinary students people from different backgrounds can pursue PhD in different areas indicates that there is a revolution to come and the ugc appointment rules are also going to be revised so do not have limiting thoughts. There’s nothing stopping u if u truly want to pursue PhD. And became a prof in law.

If you are NET Qualified in PubAd do not let go of the opportunities as assistant professor. Keep an eye on the upcoming vacancies in your area. You can get selected as assistant professor surely because PhD is optional for assistant professor now and if in future you see promotion to further ranks like associate professor and professor you need to do a PHD later. Govt supports PhD for working professionals like assistant professors and provide study leave for PhD purpose. It’s okay if you don’t want to do a PhD now but yes you can consider joining a university/college based on NET. If you have done NET means you were quite close to JRF give a try if u r below 30. You must know that IIM Bangalore etc selects full time PhD candidates if they have NET and JRF and if candidate clears their entrance test and provide upto 47000 per month as stipend during complete PhD journey. My recommendation scout for academic associate teaching assistant or asst professor roles for public administration or related areas in IIMs & IITs first, and then pubad related areas asst professor vacancies and give JRF till you are eligible. Because once age limit crosses you have no option but to move on.

Yes hslc marks will be calculated for Assam state because we follow state regulations for regional recruitment
