Just some bonus footage from our recent gaming chair vs. office chair reviews. This is not the review itself, just bonus footage of the team. Find the full version here: th-cam.com/video/9Yhc6mmdJC4/w-d-xo.html
Someone asked what the far left chair was and then they deleted their comment while I was replying. Here's the answer: We cut it because it's really old and we've had it a long time. None of us really like it for long-term use because it's built for much larger people, but we didn't realize that when we bought it. It ends up encouraging hard leaning to one side. It's also missing a lever because of its age/being moved a few times. The chair is unfortunately not branded and I'm not sure who made it. Sorry about that!
That was me. Thank you. I placed the comment as fast as possible to have a chance to get any answer. Later I deleted it because I felt that there may be a comment about it in the video and I didn't wanted to spam the comment section. My bad. I should have acted less "chaotically"
Was in the market for a new office chair and I was having trouble finding one to trust that's all mesh and has the head-rest. Y'all helped me out there so thank you! PS: I appreciate the Geforce pun.
This one and the GN video basically made my back hurt. It's incredible how you can just internalize discomfort as something you're just used to, when a few years back you had to replace your chair and finding a decent office chair seemed impossible. Import taxes here in Norway makes the Herman Millers and such prohibitively expensive for non-professional users, so it seemed there was nothing else available in my price range but the AKRacing chair I now own. Which I now can't sit in without back pain. Ordered an ErgoChair 2 thanks to your video. Feel free to let them know you earned them a sale. My back also thanks you.
Steve getting flashbacks to an abhorrent childhood memory about an asbestos abatement while slumping in that chair really got me. Shout out to the editor for the sick cut while Steve was at his lowest.
I'm so glad you all made these videos. It shamed me enough to come to terms with the issues I had with the "gaming" chair I bought at the start of the pandemic so I went out and bought what I think is a better chair even though it wasn't very expensive. Thanks for forcing me to admit to the downfalls of my first purchase!
So much roast/good takes on the seats. The "I forget I'm on a chair so this is a good chair" is a really valid take and the "Eww" when the buttock touch vertigear is pure gold Can't wait for 150$ chair to finally be good without stupid design
Maybe against the spirit of this but it's pretty easy to figure out the expensive one by checking for adjustment knobs etc. More adjustments = more better = more money.
One of the best videos in a while, the whole gaming vs office chair. I've had the same office chair since 2007 and just upgraded the wheels on it for Christmas. Tried a 'gaming' chair once, extremely uncomfortable.
After wrecking two chairs (one gaming and one office) both in the $300 range with each lasting less than 6 months I bit the bullet and bought a Herman Miller Aeron Remastered (same as the second one) $1200 range. Yeah I won’t be able to send my children to college now (just kidding) but DAMN it is comfortable and extremely well engineered. People should know they can buy original refurbished Aeron chairs (not Remastered version) in the $500-700 range. Well worth the money IMO. Hey Steve? It was nice not having to assemble the Herman Miller, wasn’t it? Just wheel it out of the box 😂👍
I bought a relatively lightly used Embody (still more expensive than most non-Herman Miller chairs) and could have never been happier with a chair. The only problem is the ESD that happens after sitting in it.
That Herman miller chair looks comfy. I'm going to buy one soon. My problem is they are very rare to find in my country. So they need to order it from overseas, which takes time due to the situation...
Surprised that the pc chair industry hasn’t really dove deep into using luxury vehicle seats as inspiration. If you can choose recaro seats for these “gaming chairs” imagine using seats from companies like Mercedes , I mean sheesh even Nissan has those amazing zero gravity seats which are extremely comfortable.
Real talk though, I'm still in a pinch myself. I live in Australia and I've been trying to search for a new chair for quite some time. I currently use the "Markus" office chair from Ikea and it's served me pretty well. Seeing these vids has me leaning to just getting another one of those but I'm not sure if there is something better that I should be looking at.
I wanna know if the decent $400 one has locking armrest positions. Lots of adjustable ones I’ve tried they don’t lock except maybe forward and back so they slide outwards.
My new Ergochair 2 does not lock the positions of the armrests, s I guess its how its designed. But I don't really mind it. The headrest does not snap in position like that and does not make that sound. It does when you adjust the hight of the headrest.
I am writing this from an IKEA Markus. The armrests are "meh", apart from that, 8/10 chair, would recommend. I sat in some expensive office chairs, and they are a bit like a good headphone: You need to know what to appreciate about them.
GN blind sided me... Seriously, I just got my Secret Lab Joker literarily 1 week ago, and was an upgrade from my $150 chair from amazon I had for like 2 years. My new SLJoker is so awesome for me, but mostly cause I do not have others to compare to, other then 1 pos from amazon. The seat is firm but comfortable, as is the back rest.My other chair sucked for sitting in, this one i can sit all day in (plays wow) and have no sleepy legs arms, just eye balls lol :P
My old "office chair" which is the leather type with everything fixed except the lean and the height that I paid $200 for back in 2010 is completely wore out now, so kinda in the market for a chair, kinda like the Amazon chair for how cheap it is, but that next one with the headrest is something I may would swing for. What was that one again?
I would never believe that office chairs cost so much, i guess shipping (due to size/weight) must make it add up so quickly. I sit on a step ladder (really) when i use my pc weirdly enough i find it rather comfortable.
Why do you find spending a lot on something that you potentially will use one third of your day every day unbelievable? Would you also cheap out on a mattress?
My actual chair is in this one but doesn't seem to feature in the main video :( it's the high backed one with the headrest sat between the two shitty gaming chairs. Got mine 10 years ago now but the exact same one is at Best Buy for like £135 right now.
@GNSteve you should read my comment on the main video. Racing seats are actually comfortable as it helps with fatigue. Driving for 4-24hrs that makes a difference. A proper bucket seat isn't reclineable but is supportive and snug. Those reclineable pieces of trash I've been telling people not to buy since they came on the market
That's the thing with chairs, they are like saddles for bikes, they don't need to be super plushy in the beginning, but you need to be able to forget you sit in it, otherwise your concentration is always broken by a stupid piece of crap.
Best chair comparison video I've ever seen. However, almost none of the chairs in the video are available in europe(at least for a reasonable price). Is it possible for you to include universally available IKEA chairs(markus, järvfjället etc) in a follow up video? I think even your american viewerbase will appreciate the comparisons.
Yep that blue Vertigear chair is too small/not the right frame fit for most of the staff members, more so when you look at the shoulders and the wingtips aimed forward.

I just want an hour of the team yelling at the vertigear.
"This one isn't bad, smells like asbestos." Was the icing on the cake 🤣
9:50 "Gamers experience a lot of Geforces" "No they don't"
Proof that Keegan is an AMD shill. 😉
Gfuel not G force,

Well Dayam Steve. That was gonna be my first choice on looks alone........................................................kekekekek
God bless Keegan for his unfettered opinions. He’s a national treasure.
Good to see the GN team putting in hard work.
Looks like they’re just sitting there, to me.
13:27 my favorite beve sturke moment
The third guy is really funny. "I hate it". Lol
That's Keegan! Pretty accurate to how he feels about most objects.
@@gnsteve8846 OK cool, thanks for the reply. :D
"Yeah fuck this chair. Yeah this is the stupid Vertigear piece of shit" lmao
Was in the market for a new office chair and I was having trouble finding one to trust that's all mesh and has the head-rest. Y'all helped me out there so thank you!
PS: I appreciate the Geforce pun.
Hahaha, gamers have to get the right chair to prepare for the GeForces!
@@gnsteve8846 so if you want to be able to get a non-racing chair, you gotta go radeon. got it
You and the crew always crack me up when I need it. Thanks for all the hard work, guys. 😁🥇
Glad to hear that! Thanks for watching!
Steve has legs. This is so weird but I like it.
The Pewdiepie Syndrome
"This isn't bad, it smells like Asbestos" -Steve
"smells like asbestos" i'm sorry you know what that smells like Steve. Love you guys, keep up the awesome work.

Steve getting flashbacks to an abhorrent childhood memory about an asbestos abatement while slumping in that chair really got me. Shout out to the editor for the sick cut while Steve was at his lowest.
As a bonus piece, I really want to see you put them blindfolded in a zero gravity chair and gauge their reactions.
As the owner of a Vertagear chair, I endorse this video.
Thanks for the laugh GN. Happy new year!

Whats troubling is that Steve knows what asbestos smells like...
It's still a common thing to run into down south in construction.
So much roast/good takes on the seats. The "I forget I'm on a chair so this is a good chair" is a really valid take and the "Eww" when the buttock touch vertigear is pure gold

7:57 can confirm, as a recently laid off from OD, "constantly going out of business" is incredibly accurate
That chair smelling funky’s a common complaint actually
Love hearing Keegan unfiltered!
13:29 Tech Jesus in his happy place expression :P
Great numbers and graphs on this show
One of the best videos in a while, the whole gaming vs office chair. I've had the same office chair since 2007 and just upgraded the wheels on it for Christmas.
Tried a 'gaming' chair once, extremely uncomfortable.
We need more behind the scenes videos!

9:23 gaming chairs in a nutshell
I sat in one of those at a store. Those things realy can go suck a big one.
I saw "the standard position" coming and I still laughed.
this was phenomenal. your team is hilarious and clearly i should just donate via patreon for more behind the scenes footage.
That Herman miller chair looks comfy. I'm going to buy one soon.
My problem is they are very rare to find in my country. So they need to order it from overseas, which takes time due to the situation...

Why do that when you can rebadge the same chair as everyone else and reap big bucks for close to zero effort?
Because that's not very hardcore cool gamer, that's business executive boss
Not worth the money. Why rock the boat and potentially make the same amount of money or less?
Real talk though, I'm still in a pinch myself. I live in Australia and I've been trying to search for a new chair for quite some time. I currently use the "Markus" office chair from Ikea and it's served me pretty well. I'm wondering what to get too. Aussie prices are so inflated.
Well this is exactly my method of selection when it comes to Computer Office chair.
5:07 My mind instantly went to LCD Soundsystem.
I wish you would have tested a DXRacer as these seem to be the most advertised gaming chairs.
I think that might be the first video I have seen with everyone at GN in it.
Long term review please? It's been over a year now I wonder any of the chairs broke?
Would those office chairs be similar to the Staples Hyken Technical Mesh Task Chair and Staples Dexley Mesh Task Chair?
guessing a chair by sitting on it, reminds me of old Austrian TV show 'wetten dass..?'
I am writing this from an IKEA Markus. The armrests are "meh", apart from that, 8/10 chair, would recommend.

Now imagine a big step up to a quality ergo chair.
that keegan guy is good for the camera might be a good option when steve needs to sleep
*charge
*resurrect
Interesting stuff 👌
At the end of this video, a not-so-secret chair company ad. Oh dear.
That GeForce pun, holy shit that killed me :')
That was fast thanks GN.
"Gamers experience a lot of GeForces" lol 😂
How should I actually shop for a chair? I went to a staples and sat in a chair first but I was too hastey and still bought a lemon
Shop at a store with a good return policy?
My old "office chair" which is the leather type with everything fixed except the lean and the height that I paid $200 for back in 2010 is completely wore out now, so kinda in the market for a chair, kinda like the Amazon chair for how cheap it is, but that next one with the headrest is something I may would swing for. What was that one again?
Gamers experience a lot of G forces. -No they don't.
Do you know what size Aeron that is? I tried a Medium and a Large and the Large was SO much better.
Would a secret labs chair be pretty much the same experience as one of those vertigear?
The most comfortable is a large bean bag.
Gaming chairs, strap yourself in and feel the G's!
All office chairs should come with an hour rating. (That comes from an independent certification source.)
When I bought my office chair in Australia they have a tag with X amount of hours usage recommended
Cheaper than fucking up your back and not being able to walk properly or chiropractor costs
7:19 What are those?
which one was your favourite at first steve?
My actual chair is in this one but doesn't seem to feature in the main video :( it's the high backed one with the headrest sat between the two shitty gaming chairs. Got mine 10 years ago now but the exact same one is at Best Buy for like £135 right now.
Grabs popcorn*
3:24 You can get an aftermarket headrest for Aeron for the price of an average gamer chair.
"Fuck this chair"
Steve, don't sniff asbestos.
"oh jesus" as he sees Steve
Steve, why have you been sniffing asbestos?
Mr let me feel for what model this is lol.
That's the thing with chairs, they are like saddles for bikes, they don't need to be super plushy in the beginning, but you need to be able to forget you sit in it, otherwise your concentration is always broken by a stupid piece of crap.
Steve legs are either too short/too wide or his trousers and shoes make them look like it
Best chair comparison video I've ever seen. However, almost none of the chairs in the video are available in europe(at least for a reasonable price). oh hey i work at officemax 8:05
I'm so sorry.
I don’t get why remotely decent chairs are so insanely expensive. But damn do I need one. So I get why people pay anyway.
Why are you smelling asbestos... literally thats the only thing your not supposed to do with that stuff
Lol, just a joke
This channel is as abandoned as "LinusCatTips"
Did Your bicycles ran away like Linus cats did?
shouldve had more of this & maybe less of steve IMHO
Why not both
I smell asbestos everyday at work man. Lol
Yep that blue Vertigear chair is too small/not the right frame fit for most of the staff members, more so when you look at the shoulders and the wingtips aimed forward.
why does everyone at GN speak like they have smoked 1/2oz of weed for breakfast?
Gamers experience a lot of Geforces. No, they don't.
Of course Beve would take the most expensive chair for himself. This is what happens when Nvidia shills get $$$
