  • The Cairo Swordsman from the Adventures of Indiana Jones Kenner toy line was not released in the Hasbro Retro toy line. If you find a vintage one in the wild they are often missing the robes. So today let's make a set of replacement robes for this classic vintage toy.
The toy knit fabric came from: www.aliexpress...

To make the belt thinner, you can pull out tha black part inside the cord and flatten it later by ironing. Great video!

I always love when you do soft goods reproductions! Somehow yours always turn out a little better. Another excellent bit of work! Cheers, Dave!

What was really impressive about your first-pass pattern, was that for the initial side-by-side, they both had near-identical pulls and folds in the front, despite being two different fabrics. Your eye for pattern designing is getting better with experience! And as you said, this line alone has given you a lot of it.

Thanks. Each time I learn something new about the process. That's the fun of this hobby.

I'd not seen dress patterns for years - mom used to make a lot of clothes for me and my sister. So neat to see the hem lines and what not. Just the same as 50 years ago!

    That turned out brilliantly, Dave!
Using a retro Temple Of Doom Indy figure, I created a retro Map Room Indy. I used Milliput to sculpt the head wrapping, and a white t-shirt to make his robes. The material is exactly the same. I can tell you though, hemming the collar was the most difficult. Lots of careful and fiddly ironing to train the material to sit correctly. But, in the end, it turned out so good that it looks exactly like an original. Even if I do say so myself. I was so chuffed. I just need to make a map room to go with him.

    Really good looking cape.
Its so cool to see how such a "small" detail really can elevate a basic figure.
I hope this pattern will fit my SW 4-Lom fig. I had plans of doing my own pattern for him, but as we say here in Sweden "Jag la dom på hyllan"*
*(I put those -the plans, on the rack) 😄

To get a flatter belt you might be able to use a red shoelace.

Underneath the robe, it looks like a jockstrap making look like someone you’d encounter at a water park.

could have used a red shoe lace for the belt as it would be flat

Great video Dave but a side note for some reason your videos haven't been showing up in my notifications and I have everything checked I'm not sure why they're not being recommended. You are my favorite channel so it doesn't make sense.

00:20 I imagine they haven’t rereleased the swordsman due to it likely being perceived as a little bit of an sociocultural/politically incorrect character these days! 😂🤔🤷🤣

I think that is the case. Same reason we didn't get Indy in the German outfit.
