    Finally a rounded hood 😊. Seems all I have been finding are the ones that end up pointed on top. Not the look I want. Your instructions are clear and very easy to follow. Thank you for sharing with us. Is there a way this can be done for the coat of an 18 inch American Girl doll?

    • @TheGreenMarbleDesigns
      @TheGreenMarbleDesigns  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Thank you. I'm really happy you like it 😊. Yes, you could definitely do this for a doll's coat. You would have to measure from the bottom of the neck to the middle of the back of the head, then chain that length and do the process for making the hood. You won't need as many increases because it's going to be smaller. But it should be easy to judge when to stop increasing if you hold it up against the doll as you go. What a fantastic idea. Good luck!

It feels really good to share ideas and talk about crochet with like-minded people. I love the crochet community. I'm really happy you like the designs ❤

    This is a very cool construction, and I LOVE that it's not pointed at the back. I would like to size it, though, because I'm adding to an already-made pocket scarf, and I need the hood to be shorter in the back (so I can graft it onto my scarf). Does your pattern have approximate sizes?

    I used a 5.5m hook and increased two more rounds so how many around do I need to make the hood you said you needed 60 for the last count … do I need 70 or 80 stitches around?

  • @julietait4644
    @julietait4644 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    That is no way a very basic hood! (Basic is two squares joined on two sides). I've never seen a hood constructed in that way before, really looking forward to trying it. Would love to have seen hood lying down on table to see shape. Great video, thanks.

  • @wyverngem4939
    @wyverngem4939 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    So, when we are adding the double crochets at the beginning. You said to put in 8, but when you references the increases you only increase on 6. Did you mean 8 or 6? I worked up the hood with increases for the 8 and it turned out perfectly. Not sure how it would have looked if I had increased only on the first 6 stitches. Lovely, hood by the way, I've been looking for a non pointed one. :)

    • @ambergulley403
      @ambergulley403 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's great that the increases of 8 instead of 6 worked out. But the 2 stitches on either side of the 8 at beginning really only represent side stitches while the top 6 are used to continue the increases for the rest of the widening. It's always turned out great that way too. But I always encourage trying out your own ways of doing things so it's great to know what you've done works too.

    Hi , thanks for sharing your pattern with us. I was wondering what weight of yarn you were using here. I'm from the US. It looks to be a bit thicker than worsted weight med. # 4. Maybe a bulky 5 ? Was just wondering if using one strand #4 would be big enough.or if two held together would be ok or two bulky/ large. Thanks again.

    • @TheGreenMarbleDesigns
      @TheGreenMarbleDesigns  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Darcy. For this tutorial the yarn is actually very bulky. It's not the usual weight I would normally use to add a hood to a garment, but the whole principle is the same. Using a medium worsted and a 5mm hook is perfect for a really good sized hood. That's what I used for the simple hooded sweater tutorial. I hope this helps.

    thanks for the tutorial!! i’m a beginner and trying to make my first wearables.
    could i start with the “magic circle” instead? i find that when i have to keep going into the middle of a circle created how you started here, i get a hole in the middle of the finished product.

    • @TheGreenMarbleDesigns
      @TheGreenMarbleDesigns  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could definately use a magic circle, but make sure you weave in the loose end on the inside when you've finished the hood, and tie it off. I find that sometimes the magic circle can come loose. But it should definately be fine if you do that.

    I have a question. First I love this pattern. Been using it a lot. But every time I get to row 3 and I get to the end and you say it should be 35 I always end up with 36. Because of the chain 2. And I use stitch and double count my stitches. And in the video. You say I think 35. So I'm just a bit confused. If it's 35 or 36.

    • @TheGreenMarbleDesigns
      @TheGreenMarbleDesigns  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah okay, I understand. It is because you're counting the chain of 2 that you get 36. But you're doing it right. Another good way of keeping track is if you keep all of the stitches of the increases seperate in your mind, or you can use a stitch marker, and then you'll always have 34 up and down, I hope that makes sense. I find that if I do that now it's a lot easier.
