Everyone under 35 calls that a telephone chord in reaction videos. Pretty sure it's the cord that goes from the electric guitar to its amp speaker. They were rather thick back then. Not that big a deal though. Just finally pointed it out.
Blondie was a group way ahead of their time. Mixing punk, new wave, rock, pop, reggae, disco, rap. Try Rapture, Hanging on the Telephone, Dreaming, Atomic, One Way or Another, Rip her to Shreds. Lead singer Debbie Harry a true icon.
Check out more Blondie---their early punkier stuff is really fun (X Offender, Rip Her To Shreds), plus more hits like Hanging on the Telephone, One Way Or Another, Dreaming, etc.
Heart of Glass was recorded in summer of 1978, but wasn't released as a single until Jan 1979. Debbie is NOT a natural blonde. The keyboard player's name is Jimmy. Music videos date back as far as the 1950's (they were called "promo clips" then). There just wasn't a channel to showcase them until MTV in the 80s. And yes, the guys were high a lot of the time! (or at least some of them).
*Although they are your character, neither cheap cattiness, blatant ignorance, nor your bitchiness toward a LEGENDARY ICON, flatter you. Debbie Harry and Blondie's fifty million albums sold, with many massive hits around the world, following miles of groundbreaking fashion and music FIRSTS - and they are still touring the world TODAY, plus a brand-new album coming soon .... are all reasons you need to STEP ASIDE, cupcake. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees BLONDIE with Debbie Harry ECLIPSE all other female rock stars - and continue to inspire worldwide. Except you. So, you keep on choking down your HATERADE, honey, and do us all a favor with your RUDE 'TUDE: Keep it in your craw.*
Are you joking? Blondie were a mega band with no1's in the USA and all over the world - What about Call Me, Atomic, Maria, The Tide is High, Dreaming - they have released numerous albums and are still touring.
Their first hit was "In the Flesh" in Australia, and they had hits in the UK like "Denis", Presence Dear" and "Picture This" before hitting in America with "Heart of Glass" but then hits kept coming: One Way or Another, Hangin on the Telephone, Sunday Girl, Dreaming, Atomic, Call Me, Tide is High, Rapture....then in 1999 they reformed and had a #1 in the UK with their single "Maria". Also, an early song of theirs ("Rip Her to Shreds") has been used a lot in film soundtracks like "Mean Girls" and others.
What? I assume that was sarcasm as they had four #1 hits; Heart of Glass, Call Me, The Tide Is High, Rapture. The first time I ever heard anyone saying Blondie was a one hit wonder.

I was 9 years old and roller skating with a girl to this song.
Hard to believe that this single released in 1979... has Debbie Harry today at 79 yrs of age...

Good job looking it up!
Debbie has a few hits... Rapture also was a extremely unique one and you might be surprised at what you hear.... it too was a #1.
For a little underground alternative band with punk beginnings they had a lot of hits!
Blondie has many many hits
lol @DarthVaper
No, they weren't usng New York 'to look cool', they were a New York band.

I think this is the only hit she ever had, she built her entire life on this one song. Disco sure was fun!

@@thekookooman1991 Yup, you are right, I do remember Call Me, Tide is High and Rapture. It's been a long time since we disco'd.
