@MU FC soccer is the worst sport in the world, is not massive in America, Australia, New Zealand, Cuba, Philippines, Japan, Ireland, paupa New Guinea, Canada. Football may not be as popular as rugby league in the two other states but it’s still massive in nsw and qld. It’s also the biggest sport in Northern Territory. So it’s popular in ALL states. Soccer is struggling with attendance and tv ratings. There are a lot of junior clubs but most kids switch to football and rugby league as they get older. Check yourself before you wreck yourself
The first part is Marks Of The Year from 1980 That Was The Season That Was video. The last 30sec was from the actual clip of One Day In September when they showed a small snippet of it on the World Of Sport 25th Anniversary show in 1984.
One day in September for the mighty TIGERS in 2017! This was released 37 years ago the same time as the Tigers last Premiership! Hope it's not another 37 years till the next one! lol :- )
An absolute classic. It's 11:22 on Grand Final day, I couldn't leave home to make my way to M.C.G. without listening to this beauty of a track. They certainly don't make 'em like this anymore!!
17 bloody years but what a way for us to win it and now a new glorious era for the HAWKS to rival our eras of the 70's and 80's ... BEWARE ALL YOU OTHER PRETENDERS THE HAWKS ARE BACK TO DOMINATE ANOTHER ERA. HAWKS FOREVER 2008 CHAMPIONS.
The beat and tune is very derivative of Up There Cazaly, but it was especially sung for Grand Final time. It doesn't make the song any more worthless, it simply infers a nostalgic feeling and embedding that Cazaly feeling hope will be realized in the Grand Final too. That the Grand Final will breed Cazaly moments too. Coz Grand Finals should bring the best of moments too being the last game of the season.
Question fellow AFL fans. I have dellusional step father who seems to think that a premiership side of the late 70's or early 80's could beat any modern side like the Cats. I think he has his head up his sphincter myself. Pls comment.
The video I'm talking about must have taken the footage from 1980 That Was The Season That Was. It was basically the best of punch ups with a highlights of marks and goals ran for an hour. Showed things like a female ump pulling the shorts out of her backside over and over again.
slait1981 you seem a bit critical of Mike Brady's songs .Up there Cazaly is up there in the top 5 all time top selling singles in Australia. If you can tell us of any better football songs released in the last 30 years please let me know, I'd love to hear them.
Got your message. Just as I was reading your post about Waverley. Agree totally with your Comments about Waverley Park. Waverley Park miles better venue than the sterile Docklands
But he spot on , there are many elements from Up there cazaly featured in it , fact ! it's not Slait191 being picky at all. Also and since these early 80s , Mike stills sings away though when he sings now , it's still the same style :/ but nowhere near as good quality
02:46 Wini reds LOL.... On the debate of what era was better, I only remember 70s onwards, but 70s & 80s & some of the 90s was tough & hard but now we have the new athletic breed & I like it. fast, & spectacular with some of the most freakish efforts. All good, & it moved with the times. Rather AFL than bum sniffing NRL...3 men trying to push 2 men up 1 mans bum!
you cant compare teams from different era's, you can only compare teams from the same era's, no one could beat hawthorn in the 80's but who know what would happened in they played in this day an age, what if what if we will never know
Considering that it's an AUSTRALIAN sport I wonder why it is only watched by australians.... That's a confusing one. We only have a population of 20-22million and that is a good crowd for that little population size, And while on this topic, who cares about the crowd sizes? People don't go to soccer matches to wave and cheer with the crowd at the crowd. They go to cheer for for players. If the crowd mattered, most afl crowds are certainly more cheerful and supportive than most other sports.
yeah i agree with you..it's a better game in terms of speed and skill but taking the big bumps and a bit of biff out of the game is the biggest travesty.
I know that tomorrow, I, and many other proud footy supporters will be shouting the words of this great anthem. Thank you Mike Brady.
Chills. I get chills. Awesome.
How awesome... great song. Thanks Mike Brady
still the best footy song ever.
Nah. Way too similar to Up there Cazaly

I went to the grand final and was shattered. They'll do it next year... Fingers Crossed :P

If the sides of the past had the physical training the current players have then yes they would.
Man footballers used to be tough.
@guitarheroadmira Right at the end of this song they sing parts of 'Up there Carzly.'
0:42 Excellent dab
Love the song. It represents when I played

What? I love up there Cazaly, but this is pretty much the same song

Damien Godwin this wasn’t the 70’s
It's really just 'Up There Cazaly' with different lyrics

Lovin Cyril Rioli!!! :)

guitarheroadmira they even use the same lyric in the end
It is the same song and the same singer, Mike Brady, it’s just a version he did to promote the finals series oneyear
Your stepfather is having himself on.
The 2020 Grand Final should have been in November

Sadly outdated now...
UP there Collingwood win the flag in this one day in september 2010!!!
not to mention how overumpired it has become. For example if someone pushes someone the umpire gives the other player receives a free kick..fkn soft.
