My class is working on North America indigenous studies and this is perfect. Thank you for the video and thanks to all who came before us and have shown us how to thrive on our beautiful planet and continent.
This is the best tutorial that I’ve seen in a long time..ever! You make them the way my 85 year old mother taught us, the only difference she makes, is that she cuts the angle just slightly from the big toe downward to the baby toes for each side otherwise the top of the moccs will be “round” , hope this doesn’t confuse anyone
Thanks for the tutorial, my first pair of moccasins, making them for my 2 yr old son. So far I think I made them too round at the toes. Seems a bit wide too. Next time I will try to angle the toes more so it's not so round at the top. 😂
Oh My Creator niawah for not wasting material. All these other non-Native DIY’ers on TH-cam be cuting out their pieces in the middle of fabric. 😡😡😡 leather don’t grow on trees!
Can just say how much easier this made it feel for me, due to the fact my size is the exact same as the pair you are making?? Thank you so much for this!
Thank you very much for posting these instructions you did a great service to all os us who want to learn so badly, but have no one to teach us I have made things with leather when I was younger. We made black leather Bible covers and I made jewelry with beads and feathers as a teenager in the 1970's Thank you again from a grateful Grandmother ♥️📖🌿
Looking for the next video of the construction!! Please make more sewing videos and beading etc Not enough of this kind on you tube!!!! Thanks for sharing!!!!
I looked at all the videos for making moccasins and truly you have the best one except for your sinus congestion sounds. I followed your steps. Now the cut out patterns are soaking in the dye. Going to sew together tomorrow. Thank you.
I took a moccasin making class with an elder but this one video is more visual for me. I can see why and how the elder made her patterns now. Look forward to part 2.
So awesome I wish I seen this sooner, thank you so much for your knowledge❤️ I’m going to use this video to make moccasins for my Dad and sisters and brothers 💞
Great video.... You explain clearly, don't overcomplicate, and badass tunes on top of it all. I've made several pairs that were basically Tandy pattern derivatives. Look forward to your stitching video
Where do I find the rest of how to put these moccasins together? Exactly what I needed right now. I gave up on making dance regalia today. I cut deer hide to what I thought it should be, didnt try to put together yet. Dont know if I have the measurements like you have here. I dont know how to do any of this.
Thank you so much! Can you direct me to info on how to clean moccasins with household products? I have some that are lined with sheep and rabbit fur and I would love to clean them properly.
wendy surber I’ve washed my personal in the washer on gentle with a few other things maybe a few dark towels and let air dry near an air vent or outdoors. The leather will stiffen after drying but will go soft again after wearing. Depending on the grade of the rabbit fur you may or may not loose some fur during the wash. Other wise a good ol tooth brush and some water. If they are black and the leather is loosing its color hit it with a little black shoe polish to get it color back
Nina Schexnider depends on where you are located try get the leather from the supplier it will be the best price and they will cut any size you need. Craft shops will mark up a dollar or two and most likely only sell it as a whole piece. Wool can be used and if using fabric use a sewing machine to outline the pattern on the fabric to keep the fabric from fraying when cut.
Hi Trip, really enjoyed your videos. A bit confused as bout the vamp, is the length measured to the height of the middle toe or big toe? Also what is the best material to use?
Glad you recycled... For a split second I was worried you drove to the store just to buy granola and dumped it all out to get that cardboard. Apparently you got it from someones recycle bin so that is fine. You still wasted paper at the start of the video though so this cancel each other out. Therefore I can neither like nor dislike your video. I will still watch it though but I think I am just going to trace around my sandals. In fact I am so lazy I will probably just tie pieces of leather to my feet or make flip flops. Then Im going to the store to get some granola.

Completely agree
My hubby’s foot has a deep slant from big toe to little toe; so should I cut the top (beaded part) at a slant too?
Holy thumbs lol
Makes sense to me... though our view hasn't been shared by the majority of wee ones I've watched putting on their footwear 🌞💞

I love the native humor! It’s subtle and refreshing for our Native Community ❤️

Thank you! My moccasins are always too small because apparently I'm terrible at measuring hahaha
Thanks this tutorial. Is this pattern also applicable when making for toddlers? Like instead of 1 inch, would there,s be like half inch?
Kwe! Hello ! Can you show how to sew the puckers ❤
Niawen for the video! I always get stuck on the pattern making. Would the measuring technique be the same for kids moccs?
you are so awesome
I love how you say cut that out. 😅
now suppose I have a weird shaped foot. would I get away with NOT rounding the toe?
aww Hell yeah.
Aanii! Is the heel width cutout 2” in total?
Where do I find the rest of how to put these moccasins together?

Miigwech! I cannot find moccasins I like so I am going to buy some materials😂
What is the little cut out at the back for? and how big is it? that part isn't really explained
He mentions it in the next video (Construction 1). It's 1 inch by 1 inch in this example.
hi: are moccasin barefoot shoe? Can they be used as a type of barefoot type shoe? thx
Do I add the same measurements to toddler/child sizes?
Maybe make them a bit smaller
Thank you!!!

What would be the measurements for toddler feet? Any difference?
Hiiiii I've never made moccassins. What material do i need? Where to buy the leather?!
