The payoff for that sandwich logo was so worth the struggle. Everything after that was just post-game content.

Glad you're enjoying the series! I haven't cracked AC6 yet - it and _many_ other games are on my huge "to play" list - but I'm looking forward to it.

If you never played F-zero , must be born after the 90s. F-zero is fantastic. Keep up the good work.

1988, just never owned it or had a friend in the neighborhood that owned it either

Why should I need a gigantic overpowered laser cannon when I can simply *GIT GUD* ?

Looking back I wished the series had started with analog controls instead of using the back buttons to aim left and right. Always hated that.

The original dual analog controllers came out only a few months before AC1, and the dualshock came out after AC1 was released, so they were probably developing the game with the mindset that the user wouldn't have this new controller.

@@thecrashtestgenius1 The trouble is since it's From Software who developed this, they're very, very slow to change, so Armored Core 2 didn't have any kind of dual stick control as did both expansions for 2 and 3 also, doesn't use dual sticks.
I don't know why it took them so long to change. For the PS1? I get it. It was an optional control for many and no one was using dual stick controls like that for shooters. But PS2? They really should have had it done by then.
But I read there was this mentality that JP gamers wouldn't be able to get their heads around dual analog controls, I believe a capcom dev was saying that hence why RE4 controlled the way it did.

@@Snotnarok dual sticks dominated western designs , even at the end of the ps2 era dual sticks was not popular in Japanese games. The defining design characteristics for from soft to me are 1> meticulous , custom character , stat driven gameplay, everything in the game world is quantified in some exact numerical value that the player is aware of so you are always aware of where your character stands in the hierarchy of the game world. and 2> difficulty. these are gamers' games. You cant sleep your way through these ,theres no easy mode. Its all about increasing your skills.

@@bsaintnyc While I agree From Soft makes great games & I've even enjoyed Bloodborne & Elden Ring (didn't dig Demon's Souls or Dark Souls 1).
But there's one thing you shouldn't be fighting with and it's controls/camera and with the early AC games it's a bit of a mess - they're still great games, but dual sticks is so, so much nicer.
AC6 was incredible and beat that 3 times in a row

@@Snotnarok i agree the controls are bad. but it was the 90s , trust me there is far worse out there in the 90s

100% completion? I thought missions couldn't be replayed to get the secret parts.

After you complete the story the game opens availability to _all_ missions. This allows you to replay previous missions as well as missions you never attempted due to split paths.

@thecrashtestgenius1 Ah, OK. It's been a while since I played it. Hope to see your AC6 walkthrough.
