Like your discipline in keeping the thumb stuck to the 5th string on each strum. I definitely developed more thumb action and am now having to unlearn it. Breaking bad habits is tough!

I learned the "Bump Ditty" as you come down and strike the note (with either index or middle finger) then come back up and "strum" the chord, then pull of the 5th (drone) sting... definitely a different sound.

@@BanjoAddict I should also say that the first note stike is on 1, pause on 2, strum on 3, 5th string with thumb on 4... for the 4 beats... Not very musically inclined as I'm trying to learn (admittedly half heartedly) the Banjo myself as a 1st musical instrument

Okay I have a question so you would only have to be wearing the backwards pick on your index finger?

You would wear it on which ever finger you strike the string with.. middle or index. I actually later on got away from wearing a pick at all.

I don't feel like I want to use the pick for that. & I don't think I would be playing enough hours to wear out my skin I am very careful the always make sure I put my pics on for the finger picking roll practice that's hard enough I mean that's enough discipline lol try not to set up to many barriers to picking the banjo up in the morning or whenever sorry this is so long
