golden advice, i always need to be reminded that i started for fun lol, and i meet a lot of other producers who are also kinda "crestfallen" hahaha. most of the hard parts of making music arent technical but mental, and not enough people talk about that, subbed.
I'm so gratefull that i'm a big fat nerd when it comes to gear. Can't handle it when I don't know something so when I get something new it's 2-3 months of exploring it, re-reading the manual (rtfm all the way time after time), youtube until I'm sick of it. The thing I struggled with was creating the ideal set-up and not playing music a while to perfect it. It wasn't wrong, I went back to learn stuff like the Prophet X decently and focused on updating every single piece of gear before continuing, looking for better presets etc... Now it's back to doing and the workflow is 3x faster. Never sit still and if you're stuck with your set-up just do the other stuff you probably don't want to do when the set-up is finished.
Hahaha...your deep. Listened to a few of your videos and it's like you know what's going on in my head, ( i think they call it well experienced). Fantastic angles to dealing with the demons in our heads stopping and doubting ourselves from going forward. Also, I hope you get true satisfaction from sharing your wisdom as the music business is overflowing with selfish glutinous ba$t4d$. Now I'm gonna make like an underwater war vessel and SUB! peace to you bro.
Very good advice my friend! I used to do this a ton in the past but since I'm more focused on single pieces of gear and making music with it, things got better. Cheers dude, love these new videos from you! 🙌🏻
I deeply appreciate the wisdom you have been sharing lately, especially when considering that it is so counter to the prevailing attitudes put forth by other content creators in this arena. My only complaint is that I did not hear it sooner (ignoring whether I would have actually heeded it), would have saved me a lot of frustration. Keep spreading the good word, it will click with the right people when they are ready to receive it.
Yes this sounds familiar. Ive had friends or people make excuses because of gear or plug ins, blaming that on why theyre the only one who doesnt sound as good as usual
Dude you are really saying some important stuff with this channel when it comes to being a music maker. Thanks for sharing your perspective and putting in the work to get it out there. Notifications on! Cheers
Fourth video...Liked...Shared... PS: I watched the Dave Grohl vid before seeing it here. AMAZING! MAKING MUSIC CAN BE EFFORTLESS, BUT ONLY IT YOU ALLOW IT! I'm lamenting that and putting it on my wall... Enough vids. I'm making music now.
Good thoughts. Ppl get in their head too much & become their worst enemy. I think many folks have a fear of just sounding bad. One thing I teach my daughter over & over, is that some of the best ppl to know are the ppl that aren’t afraid to act a little silly.
I am continually amazed at the number of “producers” out there who surround themselves with only the best gear (of course) who have never actually completed or released a track. It’s a tough and technical endeavor, but one day, some day, you have to “produce” something. Great video.
Some great advice in this video! I've been starting to realize the points you've made in the video in my own life too, but you put it into a nice concise video. Great job!
Thank you for sharing mate. It’s not an easy one to talk about and I know we all fall victim to this one. I love that we can talk about it though, that’s the first step ❤️
So good to see you get couple thousand followers in a few days. You about to blow up hard. Was your friend a little awkward watching this and did he/she get upset by it?
@@mredrollo Thats sucks. Heard you were at tafe last night ;) was going to go because my teacher is DeepChild but I injured myself prior. Maybe next one!
Great advice mate! I love the new direction of your content… more on the mindset and self development… your observations resonate with many of us … I also have noticed a growing trend of music producers adopting a minimalist approach in their studio, by getting rid of most of their gear … too much gear can be distracting during the creative process … anyway, thank for your content … love your work and your recent tracks!!
Thanks so much Jeff! I'm glad the new direction is well received. I truly believe most tutorials aren't solving peoples problems, they are in-fact adding to them. Gear still has its place, but it's just whether or not you are controlling the gear or the gear is controlling you! 😉
This was my issue over the pandemic til now. Collecting gear cuz I was new, not knowing what I wanted so it all seemed good. Couple thousand dollars later and I’ve barely scratched the surface of most of their capabilities! More anxiety than music tbh! Gonna start paring down my spaceship 🚀
All the gear. No idea!!! You hit the nail on the head. Great chat. It describes the excuses I make in my head rather than knuckling down and doing something. Thank you.
Hey mate, good points you made. Has anyone ever noticed as you get better at playing and making music, that you ego, defensiveness and criticism of other musos goes down? I have, lol!
After a hard days work in the studio there is no ounce of judgement left in me. When those feelings come up, which they still do for me, I know I have work to do!
You are right, but not when it comes to creating music with a really bad PC, it's basically impossible to use any live rendering instruments, you have to play around with one instrument, make a sample out of it and hope it sounds good enough, time is a big factor to this, and if something takes longer than it should, it definitely gives you a good excuse to say "Alright, this is annoying and I am not having it this way, I'd rather buy myself a good PC first before I create anymore music". When it comes to effects and other hardware except good headphones and an audio interface, I agree, don't make excuses for no good reason.
I notice your using a catch frase at the end of your videos much like most of the growing music youtubers. Where did you learn these techniques and how did you realise this this what you should do? Did you just Make the observation your self like Me and decide to do it yourself?
AH man, I hate to be bagged up with all the "Other Music TH-camrs"... I actually "signed off" this way for the first time about 2 years ago. Keep Creating was just the first thing that popped into my head. And then I made a specific video about that and also released a line of Keep Creating Merch (Link in bio 😉)! And the "Bye for now" is something my Dad always says to me on the phone. I adapted that from him. It's nice to have the consistency too. I noticed another rather large youtuber dude who signs off almost identical to me.... I looked back on some of his vids and he didn't always do it like he does now.... hmmmmm makes you think!? 🧐
REAL QUESTION please give me an honest opinion of the AIAIAI low latency headphones 🎧 i mean the sound. i use JBL Tune 660 NC (75€) because I need a particular sound in my ears. I also use the cheap 15€ JBL T160 earphones and use JBL Endurance Race TWS earbuds when out and about (and sometimes in the shower, don't ask) 😂 But.. I really want these AIAIAI low latency wireless to sound good as well as perform. The price is the reason I haven't been able to make a decision. For reference, I have tested the Audio Technica M50x and they sounded too flat for me. I need bass to bloodclaat 🇯🇲 🎺 😁 Help me 🙏🏽❤️
"Making music is effortless, but only if you allow it". That was a good quote, plus some great tips mate!👍
Thanks buddy! Yeah, I think it a keeper 😉
I never really considered getting a quote tattooed on me until I heard this...
Keep helping us 🤲🏾

This is amazing proof of the process! What you can get out of 1 or 2 pieces of gear alone is really inspiring dude. Thanks so much!!

Might as well be "Stop making EXCUSES with your self". I find the ideas in this video applicable to so much.
Life can be effortless, but only if you allow it.

I don't own them so I have no idea. I have the TMA-2 Studios. I like them 😎
in my case my PC is a valid excuse. :(
I feel like this advice is actually helpful for my sex life somehow...
