    Swansea City Association Football Club is a Welsh professional football club based in the city of Swansea, South Wales that plays in the Championship. Swansea City represents England when playing in European competitions, although they have represented Wales in the past. They play their home matches at the Liberty Stadium.
    The club was founded in 1912 as Swansea Town and joined the Football League in 1921. The club changed their name in 1969, when it adopted the name Swansea City to reflect Swansea's new status as a city.
    In 1981, the club were promoted to the original Football League First Division. It was during the following season they came close to winning the league title, but a decline then set near the season's end before finishing sixth, although a club record. It was from here the club suffered a relegation the season after, returning to the Football League Fourth Division a few seasons later, then narrowly avoided relegation to the Football Conference in 2003. Prior to playing home matches at the Liberty Stadium, the team had previously hosted at the Vetch Field. The Swansea City Supporters Society Ltd owns 20% of the club, with their involvement hailed by Supporters Direct as "the most high profile example of the involvement of a supporters' trust in the direct running of a club".
    In 2011, Swansea were promoted to the English Premier League, becoming the first Welsh team to play in the top division since its formation in 1992. On 24 February 2013, Swansea beat Bradford City 5-0 to win the 2012-13 Football League Cup (the competition's highest ever winning margin for the final), winning the first major English trophy in the club's history and qualifying for the 2013-14 UEFA Europa League.

    Go on Swans! Been a Sunderland fan for a good 25 years but I have to say Swansea City is my second team in "England". Playing good football, nice crest and great kit (especially the away one). That's enough! /All the best from Sweden

    Shocking decision for Blackpool's penalty. Keeper dives early, but they mostly all do. Too many schoolboy errors by Swans defenders. A better team than Blackpool would have punished them. Still, a first win for the mighty Swans'.

      @andreasvukman 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, and better finishing from Swansea would have punished that imaginary better team. Swansea should've scored at least 4 goals yesterday.

      @@andreasvukman And how many goals should Blackpool have scored ? A half decent team would have outscored The Swans.

      @@MOGGS1942 Did you watch the game at all? Blackpool created chances for 1.90 expected goals which isn't even enough to score 2 goals. Swans created chances for 4.40 expected goals which is more than enough to score 4 goals. But let's say the real result should've been Blackpool 2 : 4 Swans.

      Hull city fan here watching this. The Ref in our game against Bristol got relegated to league one because of a “controversial” penalty which after replays showed the defender clipped the hull players ankle so yeah not as bad as that one but bet that ref is still officiating next week

    More than time for VAR at this level. Andy Fisher absolutely outstanding. Good resolve from the lads, get Pato fit, get Allen starting in midfield, and just have maybe one more competent fullback in before the window closes and we are absolutely flying.

    That ref was in a good position and had clear sight , and gave a penalty for a dive. What a dodgy beaut , justice was done in the end . Great save Andy .

    • @MOGGS1942
      @MOGGS1942 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was a very poorly taken penalty. Fisher didn't actually save it. Fisher's early dive meant the penalty taker just had to roll the ball to his left, and score. Justice was done, however, as it wasn't a penalty.

    Grimshaw "the keeper" Bowler missing the chances. Anthony needs to retire. He was great on Swansea Sound back in the day with my little transistor. I recall he told me about a 17 year old David Nugent who ripped Swansea to shreds in a 1-3 loss to Bury at the Vetch around 2002. I though "Ay up who s this kid?" Anthony filled in the blanks. He cannot be bothered any more it seems. "Good stop by the keeper" is not commentating I can see it. "Good stop by Grimshaw" is the added value.

    First opening chance and WHY does the Swansea player take a touch INSTEAD OF STRIKING THE SHOT FIRST TIME …. CAN’T these players strike a rolling ball ?? Ffs time and time again strikers NOT taking the shot first time ..,,, COME ON ???
