It’s a cool pot. I like it. I was always told never to water a cactus after potting, to wait a week or so because it can do something to the roots. Is that a plant wives tale? Love your videos. Thanks for showing us the ufo planter. I’m always looking for different planters. My husband is the same about drilling holes for some reason.
I was always taught that if it has roots you can water it in, but if it is a cutting after callousing to just sit in soil and leave dry for a couple of weeks .
Hey Harli! Here's a pro tip for us in Utah. Check out the DI near colleges or high schools. They have ceramic classes. And sometimes the students don't want the projects. So like you said in the video, it is definitely a teacher donating projects from classes. Also I know this is long, but I absolutely love the upside down planter there. It looks so good! And with the skinny legend cacti, I think a glass dish would look real nice with it. But, the terracotta looks great too! Thank you for the video, and have a wonderful day!!
If you have like a Home Depot bucket.. maybe put it under the plant when you water? Eh, I’m 50 50 because then you have to lug a Home Depot bucket around the house to water that thing lol. The plant looks so cool though
Your little text connotations in this video were so funny! and yes i have a dining table in my house that i don’t have any chairs for either LOL so you’re not alone
Idk if you will see this... Your white thrifted bowl is a Raku bowl and is highly prized by collectors. The process to make those iridescent colors is very time consuming and tricky to produce properly.. Yours is an absolutely beautiful! bowl!💕
I love it! I’ve been thinking I might want a ceiling hook right above my kitchen sink to let hanging plants drip dry. Sometimes I’ll sit a bucket under the plant when I put it back where it belongs. Not sure you could balance one on the toilet in the right place though!
Oh my gosh, I just love you Harli! :) I love your personality and your style and I look forward to watching all your videos when they are posted! Your hanging cactus is super cute and I love the other one you potted up too. I think you could totally hang the cactus on the shower head to dry. That way you can water it and dry it in the same room without any hassle.
I saw your insta post and wondered if a new video was coming out soon! Love the plant/pot combos. Did you ever do anything with the big vintage light you thrifted?
@@HarliG I hope mine will grow to be that size, I have had mine for 2 years now and it is maybe a quarter of the size of yours! Any tips on caring for it would be amazing :)
That''s an awesome project and looks great! It gets pretty cold here in Ohio in the winter so I'm not sure I want to make that comment to inside watering because I have so many plants. The dish from the thrift store could be from the Boyer Pottery Company and is certainly worth more than $2 great find. Everything is lovely. Have a great day!
I love the ufo planter and never thought about the pain of watering it. I'm glad you brought this up. Beautiful pot but I personally don't want the extra work 🙂
Love this video! Im so glad that you thought the upside cactus wouldn't work but then it did , i always think things are not a good idea until i see the finished product 😂
I would have turned the first saucer upside down and use the pedestal as the catch tray with your euphorbia. I too love hand made pots, saucers and mugs.
I think two things: don’t use a sauces for the opuntia. It looks so much better without it, and the watering happens infrequent right? And: how are you ever gonna get it out of there when the roots fill in? 😮 Have a great week!
I have an idea for your upside down plant. Use a porous terracotta saucer small enough to fit on top of the plant and use either ice or very little water and it will slowly seep into the soil.
That Boyer bowl needs to sit under the cactus on the counter that you repotted. The pot matches that bowl so well. Love the UFO Pot but I killed what I planted in mine. Cactus May work tho!!
Interesting that you're working with 2 types of plants that I got from your Mom too. I love them both! Looking forward to seeing updates on the upside down plant. 🙂
@@HarliG I've been watching your videos since I started my plant journey a few years ago. I've learned a lot from you! I was a late "bloomer". In my 60's when the houseplant journey began for me. lol ❤
Thanks for showing this. Those ufo planters have not really been my vibe (although maybe growing on me 😂) but I always wondered how they work and how do u actually pot a plant in them.
Hey Harli 💫 It turned out sooo cute. Here’s to hoping no one gets pricklys in their bottom. I think it’ll be fine though. Hope you guys enjoy your Labor Day 💫
I love how when you ask you husband, isn' t that cute? He answers (maybe sarcastically) so cute 🤣 Cool planter. Can we see a snap shot of the kitchen chairs?
Harli, love your video!!💗 Here’s my watering suggestions🤗 I just spray my UFO with fern leaf cactus (usually no drips😁) most of time and take down to water in the sink maybe every 3months or so.
I think your husband was in actual physical pain putting a hole in the ceiling. 😬 I hope it works out but I’m worried for the plant. An air plant might work out better.
***Realizing how muchbof a pain it will be to water your UFO..... While pup lifting leg.... whizzzing in the background.... lol Love the real life in your videos...
I’ll move it to a new spot if it gets too long & im hoping when it puts new growth out, it’ll be from the bottom, but we will see! Someone else commented that it will probably try to grow through the top & I think it’ll be okay if it does that too!
Is your plant hanging directly over the toilet bowl? Water in place if it is 🤣 also I’d be worried about spikes on your head if it’s hanging upside! Might grow so long it does
Have you thought about watering it and then hanging it from the shower head in the bathroom?! That could be an easier way than taking it all the way outside every single time you water!
I’m not sure, someone knowledgeable on them left a comment about that. I’ll try to tag you in it. I asked if they thought it would be okay or if I should move it though.. so we will see 🤞🤞
Love this but kept telling you through the screen to go the other way and put the plant up through the hole not the roots down through that tiny space lol
It wouldn't help for the UFO planter but my favourite hack for drainage holes in normal pots is covering them with pipe screens, sold wherever you can buy rolling papers. 🥦 🪴

Love the “Three Stacked Donuts” pot on the bathroom vanity. Donna

Yay! Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a good day
Love that you're thinking out of the box. Now that I'm in my 70's, I want to do different ways to plant. Upside down is a favorite way.
Also, because of you, I now have "Liquid Dirt".
Love it. Thank you.

I think it’s worth the effort too! I’ve caught myself staring at it lots since I put it up 😂
Have a handy hook where you can place it just for watering. Over sink?

I ❤ the UFO planter. It looks wonderful in that spot and is really able to stand out.
Love your treasure discoveries! Very organic and earthy❤️❤️❤️
Thank you! They fit in so well on my house! I’m so happy to look at them every day haha

Yeah, I’ll for sure have to move it with each watering. I didn’t consider the watering when I bought it 😂 it’ll be worth it I think thiugh
At least you went with a cactus so it’ll need less waterings
Awesome finds!!!! One of my favorite things to thrift for is handmade mugs.
There are just so many cool ones out there 😋

I think they meant the ones you wanted to get.
Could you put varnish or clear coat on the terracotta?
Oh yeah! Probably! But then it wouldn’t allow air flow like terra cotta usually does! Maybe I’ll try that to pot a philo in or something 😮
I love the UFO pot and having the plant come out of the bottom. Now I need to find my own UFO pot. :D
I would put the cactus plant with the black pot on a glass saucer, plain but chunky maybe to not take away from the pot or the plant itself 😊
